nice to see this finally~ I think it is kind of nice that Oxford makes accessory sprues. It kind of guarantees on small sets that you're going to get far more than you bargained for. It is also nice to have this kind of feminine style to go with some of the other styles, even the castle ones.

Jeeze that is actually not a bad looking tractor.

As I've said before, the Oxford quality is actually pretty high. After trying some Enlighten and Ligao, I can see why people would be worried, but Oxford is right up there. They also don't bootleg Lego sets. With that in mind they're just a compatible competitor who offers things Lego refuses to.
-
I haven't kept up with new pieces Lego has introduced since the late 90s, but I wonder how much luck you'd have making this out of true Lego. There are quite a few custom pieces in most of the sets. Like the hoods, the rails on the truck, the doors with mirror mounts on them, the wheels are a bit different and quite beefier than any Lego stuff I've seen. Headlights and those exhaust type things on the roof. Does lego have any kind of license plate mounting piece like Oxford does? I think you might be better off eyeballing it. If you want I'll scan up the truck just for you if you'll see if it can be duplicated in Lego There you go, try it out!

Name: NCM0872 Theme: Cobra Military Pieces: About 1000 Price: 55000 won ($46.42 USD) Minifigs: 10 Time: Hours..many..many.. Well I finally went out and got the big daddy of the modern military theme. I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. I don't exactly remember finishing last night, but I dreamed of olive colored blocks... As I became consumed by the construction I stopped taking photos of the construction itself. Box The box is massive. It has a lifting front flap that shows a couple token figures and a couple random pieces. Inside the trade is separated into two sides. One for pieces and one for the plastic insert that was showing off the parts. There are 17 different bags of pieces in here. It is helpful to note that pieces of the exact same type are confined to a single bag, but each bag contains a mishmash of pieces. There are no alternate builds shown. The back does show the designations of the real vehicles these are based off of. Instructions This is more a novel than an instruction book. It is thick. Containing instructions for 5 different vehicles even though multiple steps are on a page, it feels like one of those 2 year calendars you might buy. I've never felt a book so thick and I had the original black seas barracuda. Pieces Mass amounts of everything. Actually a good supply of thick blocks. Lots of wheels, doors, windshiels, hoods, rotors, radars, joints, rails, turrets, etc. After I was done there was a handful of translucents left over and a couple of other non-special pieces. Minifigs 10 total. This is a great amount of figures. We have 3 of the commander type guys, 2 pilot helmet guys, and 5 regular helmets. There are also 2 backpacks included. Oddly enough there are only 2 weapon sprues included. I would have expected them to double up the 4 gun sprue, but they didn't. It works out there because once you get everyone driving something you don't really need a lot of guns. Plus I have a ton left over from other sets. Real Vehicles Here are some comparison shots from the real vehicles AH-64D K131 Jeep K511 Transport Truck XK-2 Black Panther Radar Truck I'm not entirely sure this is the right model since they didn't include a designation number, but it looks close. Construction What a marathon. The sorting for this was crazy. Start to finish it took somewhere around 4 hours. At one point I may have started hallucinating. The first model was the jeep and I had to delve into 15 of the 17 bags to get all the pieces for it because of the way they were spread out. I even had to move off my desk to the kitchen table because I just didn't have room to set up to that here. There still wasn't enough room to do it comfortably there. Honestly I'm yawning just thinking about it. Finished Models Jeep Well this is ever so slightly different than the stand-alone model. It has a different piece on the back. Instead of being topped with a 2x1 flat and 2 2x1 rounded pieces it is a 1x6 flat. The clutch on the windshield is great on this one. I may have just gotten a bum windshield on the stand-alone one. Not much else to say about it. Oxford loves their jeeps. You can barely buy a set without getting one. Radar Truck This actually has a bit of an interior. Kind of a cool model. There is a hatch on the front but it isn't much use. The 3 doors on the body all open up and are adequate to get inside. The roof comes off pretty easy, just 2 big flats. So if you want to do stuff inside you can. I put a couple computer stickers in there. The dish rotates of course. It has a very solid feel to it. There are lots of hand holds that you can attach soldiers to if you want. Transport Truck While it is just a truck, with no weapons, it just seems to fit very well. It is a great truck to transport troops in and feels very solid. The back gate goes up and down. it is different than the truck that comes with NCM48000 which is nice. While the jeep gets duplicated in every set, and the XK-2 tank is also available in NCM35000, it is nice to see them not be lazy and make different trucks for these two sets. Helicopter This is a very decent helicopter. It actually has some weapons on board and can have 1 pilot. There is a tail rotor, and a couple sets of landing wheels. The rotor spins nicely. The hatch is good and it is easy to get the guy in and out. All of the guns are on joints so they can be adjusted, and I think it does a nice job of capturing the look of the real chopper. I still wish I could get a hold of the chinook chopper from the old series though.. XK-2 Black Panther This tank is 2 wider than the K1A1 but more or less the same length. it gives it a squatter tougher look. It can hold up to 3 people inside and isn't completely smoothed over so you can put guys on the armor for transport. This tank is also available as NCM35000 and comes with a jeep in that set. It has a main gun and a machine gun that rotates. It drives well and looks nice. Has armor skirts like the K1A1. The middle piece between the top two soldiers could be lower I think. it is hard to put their arms down lower. Conclusion Minifigs - 10/10 Lots of everything here. Ample figures for the set, accessories, backpacks, helmets, etc Parts - 9/10 so much here. I'm deducting a point for their not so great sorting. There is something to be said for Lego's bag numbering Playability - 10/10 5 vehicles.. come on. Tanks, radar, choppers, transport trucks and oh hey look a jeep Design - 10/10 All based off real world stuff. All of these vehicles are solid and nice. Yes the jeep is not the best design ever, but the others easily make up for it. Price - 10/10 5 vehicles, $46.. we all know what Lego would come up with for something of this magnitude. Quality, price, this set has it all. Total 49/50 - best set I've gotten yet. If you're into military this has to be on your wishlist somewhere. Just take a day off work if you plan to put it together.. if you need more photos of anything let me know.

I don't know if I can get that here in Korea or not. I'll have to look around. Where I picked up this glue it was the only kind. I'll have to see if there are any warhammer stores here at all and see if I can find some of the plastic melting kind.

As do I, I was just trying to keep you guys informed.

My ISP applied a fix, but it wasn't to fix something on this end it was to fix a remote server's knowledge of where the network lied, the remote server likely being your hosting provider or their ISP based on the result of the traceroute. They along with a couple other servers lost their way back here. I was simply trying to make you aware of an issue that was affecting how users interacted with and used this site and that was likely related to something on your end. I didn't try to bring up my background at all until the "I told you so" tone of your previous post, and actually after writing it and thinking about it I came back here to delete it, but you'd already replied.

Routing and DNS are two different things. I was a network engineer and a CCNP. DNS is solely domain name resolution, names to IPs. The IP was resolving fine as I noted and checked at the time. Routing is concerned with how a packet gets from one network to another, and in the case of the internet is handled by BGP. The fact that the traceroute got nearly there and then died tells me that either the hoster or their provider had lost their routes to this ISP or a portion of this ISP. This isn't uncommon and happens from time to time. It is sometimes intentional in the case of route poisoning. Very likely the fix they applied was to re-advertise the route to ensure it got passed all the way along and restored the far server's knowledge of how to get back here. Were it a DNS issue the IP address I'm getting for Eurobricks now would be different then I got then. It is the same, and was the same both through hotspot, and through the second ISP I have access to. The problem wasn't in fact mine or my ISPs, and may have been your providers since you can see the successful traceroute going one hop past what it went to before 17 352 ms 376 ms 354 ms ae-45-45.ebr1.Dusseldorf1.Level3.net [4.69.143.1 65] 18 347 ms 334 ms 339 ms ae-11-51.car1.Dusseldorf1.Level3.net [4.69.139.2 ] 19 * * * Request timed out. 20 * * * Request timed out. 21 334 ms 374 ms 346 ms www.eurobricks.com [83.169.34.155] before succeeding. Before I was unable to hit car1.dusseldorf1.level3.net server, which is likely who had the routing problem. Anyway, it is solved now and they've had their routes restored.
-
Er no, it wasn't DNS. The IP was being resolved fine. I just cut it off the top of the traceroute Tracing route to eurobricks.com [83.169.34.155] over a maximum of 30 hops: I used the same DNS servers for both because I don't use my ISPs DNS servers, I use opendns. there was a routing issue and I got word back from my ISP that they had worked out some fix, and all the sites that were inaccessible, including this one, seem to be fine now.

Yeah I don't mind the smaller body armor, but the bigger one is more of a hindrance. With the focus on K1 being special forces with advanced weapons, I would hope they would include some different gun sprues.

http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=44580 KF0715 K1 Hovercraft Review~
-
Name: KF0715 Hovercraft Theme: Special Forces Military Pieces: Rough count 134 Price: 11700 won ($9.82 USD) Minifigs: 3 Time: 30 minutes this is my first K-1 Special forces fighting group set. This is their lowest end model, the hovercraft. Now that I've got myself a new shelf, i thought I'd put a few things on it. This is tied into their military theme, but they are a bit of an advanced fighting group. I don't think these designs are remotely related to real life like their other military stuff. Box Oxford box, alternate design and angles on the back showing sticker placement. This model uses a lot of stickers. came with a plastic tie around it and it has flaps that open with a tray inside. Instructions shows the pieces for each step. Has the story on the back as well as info on the hovercraft. Apparently this represents a craft 26.8m long that ways nearly 16 tonnes. It also has a wet spot because some condensation built up on my cup in this hot weather and leaked on to the desk and got the corner of the book. Damn you science! Pieces Lots of pieces here, some 1x6 smooth pieces, a couple jets, a cannon of some kind, weapons, battle armor, and some big thick 2x10s. Came in 4 bags. Minifigs 3 figures, 3 faces. One has a printed com device on it. Between the body armor and the faces they are all unique. The body armor is a little so-so. The big one looks tough and awesome, but it really hinders movement. The guy can't raise his arm very high so he's limited to radio or pistol duty. he can't hold a rifle at all. The big armored guy also doesn't have a printed torso. I guess oxford saves a little by sometimes not printing torsos if there is armor or something there. You can see the armor on a Lego fig. The only one I have. I might use him again, I'll call him "Sweepy". Construction Smooth, easy and standard for an Oxford set. Nothing crazy or hard, no pieces had trouble going together. Finished Model Well here we are. This comes in roughly at the same price as the K1A1 tank. How does it stack up? Well, one less figure, but it has body armor. I'd guess less pieces, it is a shorter model. No awesome treads or turret. on the other hand all people can fit in the craft, and there is plenty of space to attach them for playing. Given a choice, I might go with the tank though, but it is still a nice model. The rails on the side let you position a guy going over or jumping back in, it is a hovercraft so it gives you a little water play if you want, and it still has the main gun thing. I'm not sure if it shoots lasers or missiles or ponies. It does get you two weapon sprues, but no helmets that people want so much. I think stripped of the futuristic gun it could make a good water vehicle for the regular military. Conclusion Minifigs - 8/10 Not bad, 1 less but + body armor the non-printed guy could be used in a town theme Parts - 7/10 A couple unique things, but overall generic and a little low compared to the tank Playability - 7/10 3 guys, some armor, a main gun you can have a few adventures. Integrate it for more Design - 8/10 it is a pleasing looking hovercraft. The only thing I can complain about is the controls. They're placed in such a place that it'd be hard to use them and move the main gun at the same time Price - 9/10 Oxford is usually great value. I'm only deducting a point because it didn't completely blow me away Total - 39/50 Good set, but not quite as good as the K1A1. Good compliment to any military theme.
-
my internet finally lets me come here again. Woo! I tried it on my 1 lego figure I've got here and the helmets fit nice and smooth. No troubles at all. The gun also fits well. The handle is actually slightly small, but the stock of the gun seems to be function as part of the design and it presses against his arm to kind of wedge it into place. I'd probably like this design a lot more if the front roof was a hatch and it was tall enough to accommodate a driver.

http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=44508 Enlighten Military Ambulance review
-
Name: Military Ambulance 0273 Theme: Century Military Pieces: I'd guess 100 Price: 3900 won ($3.25 USD) Minifigs: 3 Time: 20-30 minutes I finally found some Enlighten here. Not that I was looking very hard for it, but I was curious. I've read conflicting reviews about what people thought of it and decided I had to give it a shot for myself. While I was looking around one of the local shopping sites, I found someone selling some Enlighten sets. For only $3.25 I decided to pick up the military ambulance. Oxford's is currently discontinued, so I really wanted to have an ambulance. Let's see how it turns out. Box While not terrible, it feels a little cheaper than an Oxford box. The cardboard feels cheaper I guess. It opens like an Oxford box, so no tearing. The back shows a couple alternative builds Instructions Different than Oxford. They don't show the pieces for each step, feels like old school Lego instructions. Clear and easy to follow Pieces Not terrible quality. They definitely felt worse than Oxford but it is hard to describe. They seem to have a bit more of a "plastic" feel to them.. which doesn't make sense since they are plastic. The clutch wasn't bad. I've had it together now overnight and I'm not seeing anything popping apart. I did have issues putting on a 1x6 thin piece when building it. I don't exactly know what. I'm not sure if it was the angle or what. Once I got it on, it was fine and has stayed put. The camo pieces almost look hand painted. The lights are kind of a neon green instead of a normal yellow. The long base plate had a slight curve to it. Not that you'd notice but as I was building it, I noticed it. It hasn't impacted the finished model. Minifigures Comes with 3. 2 medics and a soldier. Printed torsos. Figures are stiff. Much stiffer than Oxford figs and on par with Lego stiffness, the problem is they don't feel as smooth as Lego. Rather than a smooth stiffness, it is a bit jerky. The helmets had some printing issues. The logos were not centered on them. But the bodies seemed okay. No face printing issues that I could see. The soldiers face was interesting. Came with 1 gun. Not a bad size, but a little odd to hold because the stock bends sharply into the arm, but he gets it done. Construction Straightforward. Other than that weird 1x6 it was smooth. Didn't take a long time. Finished model Let me try to describe this. It is a very solid feeling model. It doesn't feel like a cheap ambulance. It did have a bit of that smell I got with the Ligao bulldozer, but nowhere near as bad. This might be a smell that comes from Chinese plastics. Ligao's was overpowering. This one was just enough that I noticed it while building, and you really gotta give it a whiff to smell it. I think the model could have used a windshield, and the neon green lights are a bit of an odd choice. I think they should have used translucent pieces for the cab top lights, I assume that is what the red and white smooth pieces are supposed to be. Overall it looks like a military ambulance. The step on the back is a nice touch. It's not as sexy as some of the Oxford models I've been building. It definitely doesn't look as good and feel as good for me. There is on major problem. You can't put a driver in with his helmet on. The chinese helmets stick up way too far It is just not physically possible, even with taking off the roof to get him into place and put it all back together. They should have made it a bit taller and there should have been room for the second guy somewhere. If you put the stretcher in with a guy on it, there is simply nowhere to put the second medic. He could stand on the step on the back if he had a handle of some kind to grab onto. During movement there is also nowhere to really store the IV bag they include, which is too bad, because it is a cool little piece. Conclusion Minifig - 6/10 Not bad, but the jerky stiffness, misprinted helmets, and overall feel put me off a bit. 3 for the price is good though. Parts - 6/10 Nothing really unique here at all. Could be some better choices made for a few things. Clutch was decent though. Far better than Ligao, not as good as Oxford. Playability - 6/10 You got 2 medics, a soldier, an ambulance, a stretcher, an IV bag, good stuff, you just can't drive the ambulance anywhere... design - 5/10 As noted above, needs a few tweaks. Looks like an ambulance though price - 7/10 Hard to call this one. It is a lot for the price, but the quality isn't great. Still 3 minifigs and an a vehicle for $3.25 isn't terrible. It is only slightly more than that horrible bulldozer Total - 30/50. I don't quite regret getting it, but I certainly like the Oxford quality much much more.

Not necessarily a forum problem, but it is likely a problem with the forum hosting provider. Unfortunately I have no idea who that is, and I'm not their customer so I can't deal with them. but they've obviously either lost their routes back to South Korea somehow or have stopped serving traffic here or to this ISP.

Just a heads up, something happened since last night, I can't access this forum normally here from South Korea. All day I haven't been able to get on, it keeps saying it isn't responding. Finally I got tired of waiting for it to resolve itself (also happening with a couple other websites) and installed Hotspot shield, instantly fixed the problem, however hotspot shield doesn't play nice with imageshack. Anyway. I've done a tracert, and definitely some problem closer to your end than my end. Minifg collectors series 2 pics and barcodes
crossmr replied to Superkalle's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The lifeguard looks a little weird to me. yellow doesn't match and the boobs seem overly forced. The roman though is nice. So is the martial arts guy. the disco guy is awesome. Must find him. -
Not yet. I need to get some better glue. This glue isn't really that great. It doesn't seem to be the kind of glue that melts the plastic a little first to make a nice seal. So it isn't creating a strong bond. I think I can shrink the sniper rifle in the same way though it has a long stock and a very long barrel. I used to do Warhammer 40K so I've got a bit of experiences doing this, but the plastic was a little different

http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=44446 you'll have to update again ;) OFK-0825 Fire Khan Siege Tower if you like swords, you'll like that
-
Name: Fire Khan Siege Tower OFK-0825 Theme: Castle/Fire Khan Pieces: I'd guess 50-100 Price: 20000 won ($16.60 USD) Minifigs: 3 Construction time: 20-30 minutes As I mentioned in the Mega Mini review round-up, I thought it was weird you could get a couple figures for defunct lines. After some digging I found one set from one of those defunct lines actually available. I also saw in a promo picture that they had some pretty cool weapons. Let's talk about the Fire Khan line for a moment. I haven't been able to find out much about it. It was a small line introduced in 2008. It's only 2 years old. Yet somehow in that 2 years it appeared and all the stock was sold to such a degree that you can barely find anything on it at all. One mini-sans weapon and a siege tower. The two castles simply appear nowhere. The premise of the line seem to be these spinning discs. You can assault castles and use them to bash down walls. No idea if the walls actually bash down. Here is the the biggest castle for example There are actually some cool looking things in this model. I'm seeing 2 different axes, a different style horse (with bridle) than is available now, a cool tower hwacha siege weapon, 2 suits of armor, some crossbows, several shields of currently unavailable style, etc. Perhaps the gimmicky discs put people off, but I could look past it for the rest of what is going on here. Anyway, on with the review Box standard box with white plastic tie around it. On the back it shows instructions for using the disc. Instructions Standard, starts with the top piece, then gives instructions for body assembly. Body assembly is very simple and fast and couple done without instructions. Pieces I'm not often disappointed with an Oxford set, but this time I think I am. It's a tough call to make on a set like this. I saw the weapons and decided to grab it right away. It looked a little juniourized, but I guess I didn't realize to what degree that is. The entire body of the tower has no bricks in it at all. This is a shame. While the launcher might not be doable in bricks, the walls, base and everything else could be. I think there was a real missed opportunity here, even if it was with larger wall plates. At least then you could turn around and use them in a MoC. The body of this is usable only one way, as the body for this. You can't use the pieces anywhere else. You can at least take the top off and use it as a playset. Otherwise good clutch, a couple unique pieces, good weapons and shield. Minifigs 3, 2 good, 1 bad. I guess. I dunno who is good and bad in this. I got a face I hadn't seen before in this. The figures are solid, standard Oxford. Great accessories. Printed bodies Construction Fast, not that much to do. I was planning to take more pictures, but then it was done. Finished model As I mentioned above, I'm disappointed because the body is just not bricks. If it was bricks this set would be significantly better. That said, it's still a decent siege tower, and I'm sure a kid would like it. The disc is easy to operate. Push it in and it'll click the launcher. Push a lever on the back and it will roll out. If it strikes something with significant force it will light up and make a noise. I could only get it to do it once. It's easy enough to get it to go off if you tap it, but the launcher doesn't really propel it with enough force to cause it to go off. 3 minifigures wearing uniforms I couldn't otherwise get are decent, the weapons are fantastic. Two cool swords, a couple of blunt weapons and a big battle axe. These are worth the price of admission, and those neat extra tall helmets. If you want cool weapons. This set is rare. These weapons do not appear in any current Oxford sets. The guy I found selling this, I don't know how many more he is selling. Actually now that I check, he is listing the item as out of stock. He apparently only had 1 and now it is gone. Well then. Let the bidding start! I'm not sure what caused such a new series to disappear so quickly. For me, these discs just aren't doing it. But for kids I think it would be great. I think adult fans would have loved the weapons, but I don't know how popular Oxford's castle series are with Korean adults compared to the military. I find it much easier to find military pictures and reviews in Korea than castle/fantasy stuff. There is still that other fantasy line though, hopefully I'll be able to pick up it's cheapest model and give it a go. It looks like it also has some neat weapons. Conclusion Minifig - 7/10 Not bad, but price per fig isn't good compared to other oxford sets. Parts - 6/10 Just not happy with the body, the weapons make up for it a bit Playability - 8/10 This is pretty high I guess. Tower, rolls, shoots things, opposing soldiers, lots of weapons Design - 6/10 Body again..looks okay, but should be brickified Price - 8/10 The price has left me wanting. For this price I could have gotten some other castle sets which would have been better. $5 less would have made this a more reasonable deal. Total - 35/50 If I had to choose a set out of a group, it wouldn't be this one. But I think it has value if you want the weapons and accessories.

I've been toying with this for awhile now. As I've mentioned a couple times before, I thought that the Oxford weapon sizes were just too big. At least for the military. Luckily most of the weapons have some repetitive areas on them, that can be compressed. So I grabbed myself a knife, and having come across some plastic cement today, I set to work. Since I've picked up so many sets I have an abundance of weapons kicking around. I decided to start by taking some out of the butt and some out of the barrel. I took the heavy gun and reduced both pieces. I think the result is a much more in proportion gun. I'd like to take a little off the barrel, but I think it looks better. Before After It's not brickarms..but I think it works.

Yes and no. GT-5000 Hwacha which I reviewed has your standard weapon sprue. With the brown weapons only, and it has a hwacha. It's around $5.85 + shipping GT0722 - the siege engine one that I just reviewed has both the brown and silver weapons for $15 + shipping OFK0825 which is part of the defunct Fire Khan line is around $24+ shipping and includes some cool looking weapons. It's the only set of any size from that line I've found and I don't know how much stock this guy has left. I've ordered one. Might arrive today. CK25000 which I showed above would be the smallest set with those weapons, $21.50 + shipping They don't have any small sets with weapons from either of the latter two lines. Both of those sets were weaponless. I've gotta figure out how to ask them why they don't release minifigure booster packs. Those would be handy, and cheap. So there is a cheap way to get the basic weapons, but any of the fancy ones are going to be a bit more.
