Glad you're happy! If I had more room, I'd like to get more Oxford sets. Maybe after I move I can set up a bit of a Lego room. I'd like to get some of their town stuff, like the 3 in 1 bus set they have, and I'd really like to spend a little more time with their historical sets. Post some pictures when you get a chance!

Thanks. Seating a lot of minifigs chews up a lot of space, so 4 seats with arm space, etc really extends the vehicle. The humvee gets around that by having a roof and sloped trunk. If this jeep had no trunk, it'd probably look better I think.

Military Jet and Jeep http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=60775

Name: OM3304 Theme: Military Pieces: Not sure Price: 24500 won ($20.43 USD) Minifigs: 4 With there only being 4 sets in the new military line so far, I had to jump on them to keep on top of them. So I ordered up the last two, built them a few days ago and I'll stagger out the reviews. This is the new Jet with the new Jeep. I wasn't thrilled about the jet from the box shot, but actually after getting it, it's pretty nice. Box This is your standard Oxford box. Like the other ones this shows off some of the action in the set. The Jet appears to be based on the F-15K Korean Air force jet. The jeep may be generic, but their last one was actually based on a real jeep. Korean military jeep gets a lot of old war pictures, so I'll keep an eye for an actual model this is based on. Instructions Clear, complete, great as always, attached parts sheets. If someone wants to total that up, let me know. Pieces As always, good clutch, good plastic, no problems. One nice thing is that in this set the jet has many pieces and it's not green. It uses two shades of grey. Minifigs 4 in this set. It has a new pilot's uniform and new helmet for him. Big improvement over the last pilot. The new weapons are included as well. No female face in this set. Good mix of faces otherwise. Construction The jet is done with a couple of floating sections that are laid out and attached later. It makes it a little tricky, but I find it's better to set the pieces aside and then after you've built the connectors, attach them to that. Jeep Jet Finished Models Oxford has really improved things with their latest line. Playability is increased on everything they're making. Before they were tanks and jeeps, now they're tanks and jeeps with interior troop transport and trunks. The Jet also has landing gear that retracts. The jeep in this set is great as well. Best of all its different. Oxford included the same jeep in many sets in the last line, but so far in this line the two jeeps are different. They're both great. Seating for 4, equipment storage, and this one also includes a tow hitch so you can pull around the gun from the helicopter set. The jet has missles, a new cockpit, feels very solid, and nice tail and wing pieces. The jeep also includes printed windows that have a kind of desert sand-storm look to them with wipers. Minifigs - 8/10 Great quality as always, but 4 minifigs for $20 is a little low for Oxford. You get 4 with their $11 tank. If they tossed in a female figure, it would probably be better. The unique pilot adds to it though. Parts - 9/10 Great selection of many unique parts. Also a good amount for the dollar value, even if I don't know the exact count. Quality is top notch as usual. Playability - 8/10 Good jet with retractable wheels, and a jeep. They don't fully go together, and each one doesn't have an excessive amount of action, but they are still both pretty useful from a play standpoint. Design - 8/10 The jet seems to do a very good job of copying the real life model, the jeep allows for major troop movement with at least 5 people being able to fit in it. I'd be interested to see a 4 seater jeep with no trunk and a 2 pilot jet would be nice. Price - 8/10 I'd like to see another minifig, but still for $20 it's right up there. overall - 41/50 It's a good set, and the jet looks very nice even if it was just sitting on a shelf. The jeep rolls and plays very well.

New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive
crossmr replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
And you lost me.. the currency has been floating around par for some time now, and they're still nearly equal. These kinds of pricing practices are fairly insulting to me as a customer. Otherwise it's a rather nice set that I wish I had room for, well I wish I had room for all my old Lego right now.. -
$5? ouch.. around $2.40 each here in Korea.

I assume it is a real tank. I'm not a tank expert, but to date, Oxford has been basing all their sets on real vehicles, ones used by the Korean military, though they may have increased the profile to add the infantry transport and increase playability. Ah, I think it's a K30 Biho. Yup, I'm checking some pictures on google. it's got a back door on it: http://images.google.ca/search?tbm=isch&hl=en&source=hp&biw=1600&bih=707&q=K30+Biho&gbv=2&oq=K30+Biho&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=468l468l0l776l1l1l0l0l0l0l209l209l2-1l1l0

I should mention that the Korean on the box refers to it as an "off-road racer". That might explain the bulky size.

still on the shelf here..not much I wanted, but I picked up 4 anyway. 2 sailors 1 punk rocker 1 artist I was hoping for a viking or hockey player

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
crossmr replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I hadn't bought any of these before. On a whim, I picked up a couple yesterday and got a Detective and a Fitness instructor. After looking through them, I found a few I wouldn't mind having and went and bought 6 more today. Really lucked out. 2x boxers 1x gladiator 1x dwarf 1x cavewoman 1x zookeeper I really wanted the boxer, dwarf and gladiator the other two, I'm neither here nor there on. I really want to snag a lumberjack, he's pure Canadian, and a Royal Guard. From series 4 about the only thing I'm really interested in is the Hockey player and the viking, maybe the musketeer. So even though they still have some series 4 packs there, I probably won't buy them. -
Would you know the specific variant designation? In the last line of models, they wrote on the back of the box what real life vehicle it was modelled after, but this time they haven't done that. . I assumed it was an AA tank due to the radar and things on it. It vaguely reminds me of the Tunguska M1, or PGZ95 but with troop transport

Yes, it seems a little out of proportion. There are some interesting pieces though. It's got some of those 90 degree pieces for putting the slopes and steps on the sides, add the wheels, the little domes, and those curved pieces, and it's got some potential to be useful for MOCing. Next morning smell is down a bit. However, the two stickers on the front slopes of the car are strange. After several hours they just detach. You can see them curve up in the middle. They seemed to be very sticky when I put them on. They haven't fallen off, and you can push them back down and they'll stay for awhile. All the other stickers are solid and haven't moved. While I put Oxford only slightly behind Lego in terms of quality (though they are getting very close by improving their mini-figures). I would say that Kazi and Englighten are a full level below Oxford. But, they are at least a full level above the likes of Sluban/Ligao.

Kazi Race Car http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=60644

Set name: Instruction seat says No. 632 Price: 3000W ($2.54 USD) Pieces: 82 construction time: 15 minutes Awhile back I posted a review of a set I picked up at the local Daiso. It's a dollar store style shop from Japan. Previously they'd carried Ligao blocks under their branding. They've now moved on to carry Kazi brand bricks under their branding. I checked several times before picking it up, because that Ligao set was rather traumatic. Box The box has the dreaded "Contents may vary" warning on it. After the Ligao set, it's always made me wary. You'll note that it shows 2 models. There is a red model as well that is slightly different. Instruction Book This is a bit different. The set is built in several pieces then assembled at various stages. It's easy enough to follow Pieces Bit of a smell. Not like the Ligao set. The Ligao set smelled awful. It was terrible and finally after about a year you can't smell it anymore. This one smells strong, but the smell is sweet. It's like someone fired off a can of air freshener into the box before shipping it. Here is where you notice a small difference. The chrome pieces on the box are actually just grey pieces on the set itself. Kind of disappointing. The rest of the pieces are okay. Clutch is good. The plastic is a little cheap, but solid. The steering wheel comes as two pieces and doesn't go together well. It doesn't exactly fall apart, but it feels loose. The rest is okay. Wheels are nice, as are the coloured dome lights. The plastic is not as good as Oxford's but it is much better than Sluban or Ligao. Probably on par with Enlighten. A couple pieces had flashing left on them, I took it off with an exacto knife. The only extra piece was an extra white hand. Construction Went fairly smooth. No major issues, one of the curved pieces that make up the seat back was a bit tough to seat. Design not terrible. It looks like a race car. The stickers really help establish that. The sticker quality is actually pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the spoiler. It is held on simply by 2 studs and is not that strong. The rest of the car though is very solid and survives a 12 inch drop, but not a 36 inch drop (it bounced after the 12 inch and off the desk it went). I think it's original and not a rip-off, but I can't be sure. I did a google image search for lego race car and lego yellow race car and didn't come up with anything that remotely looked like this. Playability It's a race car. Having a race? Fits well. Fighting a space battle? Not so much..but it rolls well. The wheels are balanced and not wobbly. Mini-figure After the abomination that was the Ligao mini-figure, I was very worried about this. Over-all, he's much better. The Ligao mini-figure was basically falling apart. In fact he often falls apart now. If you bump him, a stiff breeze comes in, or even if you just think about him..oh look there he goes. This guy is solid. Too solid. His arms and legs are very stiff. it's good though. I'd rather be too stiff than too loose. His hands are good. Much better than Sluban hands. He can hold weapons well and pose. He does however possess kung-fu grip legs. if you attach a block to his feet or back of his legs in a sitting position, good luck getting him off. You can do it, but you'll need tiny little Lego jaws of life. The face and helmet are printed, but the body is a sticker. Conclusion Well the model overall is not bad. It feels solid, rolls well, and aside from a loose spoiler, it's a decent looking race car. It smells funky and hopefully that'll pass. The brick quality is just good enough that I don't want to fire it out of a cannon, but not great enough that I'd tell anyone to run out and get one. Mini-figure - 5/10 He's solid, but too stiff. A printed torso would have been better. Parts - 5/10 Good wheels, good clutch, but smell and lightness hold them back. Color seems slightly off yellow Playability - 7/10 rolls well, but it's a race car, he has a very limited role Design - 6/10 Not a bad car, spoiler really holds it back, limited piece count makes it look very blocky. Price - 6/10 It's an impulse set, for $2.54 you can throw it out if you're not happy with it, but still, I'd expect something that doesn't have this kind of smell on it. Overall - 29/50 Would I recommend it? Not as a must have, but if it was driving around my city or race track it'd probably be okay. The stickers really bring it out and if you want it just for the stickers, that's a good choice too.

So they refunded you about $8? That's great. The first order arrived well and about on time. It's also been mentioned that to order the NCM0872 (The big one with 5 vehicles) it's only about $85 with shipping, as opposed to $110-$135 off Ebay. Also if you don't get the e-mail about your adjusted shipping price, go back to your overseas order tab page and you'll be able to check the adjusted shipping price.

hehe.. well I figured if anyone would be up to give it a shot it would be you. It was said with the most intended affection. Glad to hear you got your order already!

Glad you find it useful. I should mention some additional information. The OCM15000 tank and OAF28000 bomber jet are quite old at this point. They obviously made far more of them than other things, so if you are interested in them, you should order them sooner rather than later, eventually they will run out, and they aren't likely to make any more. Also any smaller impulse sets from the NCM line (and other associated newer lines) should probably be grabbed sooner rather than later. I've seen some of them sell-out already, and who knows how long they'll be kept in stock. So if you want to do army building, you might want to order some of those up. Also if you want to grab the unique head with the military police sunglasses, or the unique military cap, you'll want to get on top of it. For searching purposes, people are still listing the MC0825 series as MC2500 (the old series name). Though I can't find any international sellers with the sets still in stock. So if they do come up, you might want to grab them right away. In fact if you want to army build, the only one I can see still selling single soldiers cheap is this one and this one The military police officer, and armoury guy with unique hat are sold out. This also seems to be the only guy who has the other armoury (NCM5000) in stock, as well as the Korean Hwacha, which is a pretty rare find.

Yes, some sellers sell several items in a single listing, they list a base price for the lowest priced unit and other items have an additional price on top of them. You can order multiple different items at a time by hitting the multipurchase button, or you can just go back to the listing and add different ones to your cart. That guy you found is the only one selling the jet right now. I also ordered mine. If you do order things, I wouldn't mind if people would post where they are, and how much the shipping was for that order. It would be nice to give people a more clear bit of feedback on exactly how much the shipping is, and if people could also update on how long it took from order to delivery, that would be nice too.

For me it was Oxford. I hadn't bought a set in a very long time because I'd been travelling and moving around. There was no where to hold on to it and if I bought it, I couldn't just give it up. But after having been in Korea for a couple years, I would occasionally wander past the toy section and I kept noticing these military sets. After doing some digging around and finding out they were compatible with Lego and that the quality was reasonable, I bought their tank OCM15000, and I was off the races. Due to limited space though I've kept my collection only to their military line, with a couple other sets, but I got those for review and I've given them away. I've bought only one Lego set since, I needed a small one for quality reference. He's the little city line street sweeper. A larger house might be on the horizon, so if that's the case, then I might be able to spread out a little more and pick up some other stuff. I hadn't bought a set in maybe.. hmm.. 12-13 years.. I think the last time I really bought Lego was around 1997-1998 just as the original Pirates line was wrapping up. There was a sale and I grabbed several sets I was missing at that time.

Interest seems very high, so even though the first order is still in transit, I'll post this. He's told me he's got a shipping confirmation and it's only a couple days out via normal shipping time, and EMS is like a courier service it generally keeps it's time. In Korea we have a website which most online shopping is done through. It's called Gmarket. I often buy my sets through there, as well as just about anything else I need. It's known in Korea for having the lowest prices. I had completely forgotten that they do overseas shipping. They also have an English site and you can pay with a credit card or even paypal. Now, even though the interface is in English, the item pages will often still be mostly Korean. You can easily search for stuff with the Oxford product code though. If you see the military guide as an example I've listed the product code of each set with each picture. You can get other product codes from the Oxford site. You should use this site in Internet Explorer. Koreans love Internet Explorer, I don't know why, but most Korean sites involve an activeX control or two and are not always reliable in Firefox. This site was originally a Korean creation, but a year or two ago it was bought by E-bay. So you can be sure this isn't some fly by night operation. To get started, head to their English site and set-up an account: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/ To get an idea of shipping cost refer to this chart: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_help/oversea/oversea_help4_2.asp It's in Korean, but very easy to read. On the left you see the weight of the shipment, on the right you see the shipping cost to various regions. Almost everyone here will be in region 3. The column labelled 3지역. The first two regions are for countries very close to Korea, like Japan, Malaysia and the like. Do not base the shipping on the sellers estimated shipping weight. Most Korean sellers aren't sending things overseas and in Korea, except for large bulky items, like say an air conditioner, the weight of the item is irrelevant to shipping. So they aren't too accurate with that. Your basic order will go like this: Order Process 1. Add the item to your cart 2. Pay for the item and estimated overseas shipping cost based on what the seller has listed as the weight (generally wrong) 3. The item is shipped from the seller to the gmarket warehouse (usually takes 1-2 days) 4. The item is weighed by Gmarket for overseas shipping and a new invoice is issued for the actual shipping cost 5. If the cost is less than what you paid they'll refund the difference, if it's more you'll have to pay the actually shipping cost 6. The item is shipped via EMS shipping which is a fairly fast, and very reliable shipping method. It's like any other postal courier service, tracking, etc. In the case of our first test order, he ordered on the 20th and estimated delivery time is the 28th. Some more advanced information If you can, it's better to order several sets at once for shipping costs. Shipping costs have a bit of a high starting point, but you can add a lot of weight for less. For example, a 2KG (4.4 lbs) set is about 30,000won to ship. However a 9KG delivery is around 60,000 won. Double the cost but over 4x the weight. To that end Gmarket allows you to combine orders. If you order everything from 1 seller it's combined automatically. But if you order 3 sets from 3 different sellers you can go to this page: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_my_gd/oversea_bundle_request.asp to combine your orders into one shipment, and save on shipping cost. Any questions, let me know. It should be fairly straight forward. The other guy was able to create his account quickly and order the same day without any trouble at all. His adjusted cost for the helicopter seems to have been about $56 as the helicopter package is around 2KG. $25+$30 shipping. In this case he would have been better off buying another set of about the same size, as it would have only cost him an addition $9 in shipping for 4KG. So in order to make your shipping worth it, I'd highly recommend if you're buying a medium sized set, to buy at least a couple at once as it'll make the shipping per item a little more bearable. If you're buying small impulse sets, I'd buy several. Maybe at least half a dozen or more.
-
I suspect it will be fine, I just want to make sure he receives it in a timely manner. I've previously sent out a few sets on my own, which all generally shipped very fast, except for this one guy. For some reason his got majorly delayed somewhere. Perhaps because it was a much larger box. He likes big sets. This time, I've had him order directly from a Korean website that is in English and does international shipping. He said he paid around $40 for the Helicopter set with shipping. The way this site works is that items are shipped to the main company warehouse from sellers, and the company itself sends the stuff overseas rather than the sellers. It's an interesting idea. he ordered about 6 days ago, it should have hit their warehouse 4 days ago and been sent on. I expect within a week he should receive it, and if it all arrives okay, I'll post full details on how everyone can quickly and easily order Oxford sets directly.
-
Yes, but all they can do is ensure that the companies aren't directly copying their set design. Which is good in my opinion. They'll never actually close a company down unless the company refuses to make other things. Clones are here to stay, and in some cases its a good thing. If the Chinese companies would produce the kind of quality that Oxford makes, it would be a lot more interesting, but so far... no luck there.
-
It's their standard model line. They are generally based on real world vehicles, so they give them some nice attention. In about a week or so I'll be able to confirm whether or not people can quickly and easily order stuff from an online Korean marketplace. If so, I'll be making a post detailing how you can buy Oxford sets at these prices directly. I just want to confirm the overseas guinea pig gets his order in a timely manner and properly so :)
