  1. Yeah, sometimes you have to learn things the hard way. For example that yellow snow does not taste like lemon! Very, very original build. Funny scene, and I just love the odd colours, which are very different from those normally used in Winter Village sets.
  2. Very cute! I like the Friends/Princess feel of it, and the play functions. Where's the mistletoe above the dancing couple?!
  3. This is brilliant. I love how the mechanics work. Excellent work.
  4. Well done! I never really liked the Holiday Exclusive Ice Skating set (40107), but your idea of combining two sets works very well.
  5. Very nice. Many fine small details.
  6. Very nice addition to the official set. Although the penguins can obviously only be there on a visit ... before they travel all the way back to the South Pole, where they live
  7. I have replicated the design of the telephone box from Henrik Høxbroe's great MegaMOC 2011 "Royville" diorama, which is meant to resemble a French town from around 1967. But I can see that there is a discussion in the comments at MOCpages about the similarities between French and British telephone boxes!
  8. Thanks for all the kind comments. The best part has been to see that the display has brought joy and excitement to all the kids who have visited us during the Christmas days. Though I have been tempted from time to time to bring out .... THE KRAGLE !!
  9. Awesome MOC! I actually dig the lanterns! Very nice.
  10. Merry Christmas, everyone! Over the years I have found a lot of inspiration here at Eurobricks so I thought I'd give just a little bit back by sharing photos of the Winter Village / Christmas display I have made together with my two boys this December. It consists of all the official Winter Village sets and a slightly modified version of the train from 79111 - Constitution Train Chase. Plus a few extra details here and there...! Lighting done with LifeLites. More pictures are available at Flickr.
  11. Wow! Just perfect. I wish I had this building and scene for my winter village display, together with the official sets.
  12. Nice MOC. Well done. The other entries in the contest must have been really good to beat this. Could you share the link to the Russian forum thread, please?
  13. Ok, so I managed to reverse engineer the car, looking at the pictures. I now have what looks like an exact replica. It was easier than I thought. I think it will fit nicely in my winter village layout for next Christmas, although it is longer in reality than what I thought from the photos - and also too long compared to the vehicles of the original winter village sets from TLG, e.g. the mail van from the winter village post office. I am not sure if I can find a nice way to make it shorter without destroying the basic look and feel of the car. But there are two other improvements I will work on: as another user has pointed out in an earlier post, the doors lack support at the top so I have ordered a Windscreen 2 x 4 x 2 Vertical (4594) from BL to see how that looks instead of the two panels for front screen. Also, the back mudguards could use some better support. For the top of the gas stand at the gas station, I have now tried different parts to fix the round tile. My best guess is that a tap 1 x 1 (4599) has been used, but the gas stand then just looks a bit funny from behind... Any better guesses?
  14. Ah!! Now I see. Thanks for sharing the "secret" :-)
  15. Great (and funny) scene!! I love the bird in particular. How have the "feathers" (the black tile) at the back been attached, though? It being slant and not straight?
  16. Wow, fantastic MOC! Many great details, like the sleigh and the snow on the small trees. How did you fix the two halfs of the sleigh, down the middle? I assume you have used 4 headlights, but I can't see how you have fixed the bottoms of two headlights together?
  17. Hi TheLegoDr, I know this is an old thread, but I just want to say that this is one fantastic MOC! Especially I love the car and the gas stand, and I am planning to copy these two items for my Winter Village layout come December 2014! I have all the Winter Village sets but I am not very good at creating my own MOCs. When I see excellent MOCs like this, I try to replicate the best items to add to the official sets. Could you please post some photos of the gas stand from the sides and from behind? Also, for the beautiful car, what plates did you use for the bottom frame? You do not happen to have this in LDD, do you? (I am new here, so sorry if it is inappropriate to ask questions like this - I just love the MOC and wish I could build it myself) Many thanks in advance for your help!
  18. Fantastic MOC! Love the train.
