Back again. This time with a TIE Advanced. I have to say that of all of the ones I have done, I am most proud of this one. Everything turned out perfectly! Here it is, criticism is always appreciated!
-
Here is my version and the scale I need for my TIE Fighter. Vader's Advanced I will be building next. I could not figure out how I like my detail on the wings, and will most likely fiddle with that some more until I get it right. Has the guns, but I couldn't figure out how to get the engines on here, maybe I will do a sticker. I feel silly posting these mini mocs now that a 71,000 piece SSD showed up

This is my final render of the a-wing. I tried and tried to make the x2 cockpit work, I just couldn't No worries, though, even though it looks a bit silly, and would most likely look better with the x2 cockpit, it's the same size as all of my other cockpits, so it will work side by side.

[LDD MOC] 71,000 piece, 13-foot Super Star Destroyer
DonBrizzel replied to Fox Hound's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Holy crap on a cracker. Wow. Just wow. The detail. Wow. I just can't. Wow. I agree about the funding. You could most likely sell this to design to Lego in exchange for the parts needed. They would build this for one of their Legolands. Why do my eyes get instantly drawn to that white antenna in the front. -
This is how you showcase a Super Star Destroyer

Thank you for the suggestions and the kind words. I made the changes you said, and like them both! Unless someone comes up with a split the atom type idea, I think the A-wing is done. I will post a picture of it some time later when I post a picture of the whole family (LDD). Just made up at mini TIE Fighter as well, will post that tomorrow. I am having too much fun. One can get themselves addicted is one is not careful!

I'm trying to get this x2 cockpit to work, but no matter where I put it, I either have gap or integrity issues.
-
Okay Brickdoctor, great minds think alike! I was actually in the middle of doing the gap in the middle when I saw that you posted to do so! I also replaced the front most curved brick with a straight slope. Still a gap, but the overall look is a TON better. I also snotted the center of the body differently, and like you said, which I also like much better. I did not like the wider cockpit on it though, so I found an alternative. Lastly, I forgot to rotate the engines! Thank you for reminding me. There was a reason I did the engines like that!! Here she is now, and I am about 200% happier with the result!! Gap in the middle with slope: New cockpit and fuselage area: Front view to show the rotated engines:

I did try to make it wider, to use a better cockpit here: I can only imagine that this would be Porkins' A-Wing. The proportions do not looks right with a wider base and cockpit, and I can't make it any longer because I need to keep it in scale with my X-wing and Y-wing. Blasted! If 3 of these Starfighters didn't take out an SSD, I wouldn't even worry about making them! I also thought about taking a page from the Lego Mini Jedi Starfighter, but I don't think I could achieve the angles correctly in the middle. BTW, really like your Midi A-wing!!!

Another one I put together. This one was TOUGH! I still don't know if I fully 100% like it, I may have to break away from my SNOT designing to make this one better, I don't know. Any thoughts?

Very much appreciated, thank you! If I get enough requests for it, I am sure to fold under the peer pressure and post the LDD file if anyone else wants to make one. I will probably do it anyway, I am not greedy and want everyone to enjoy it, not just me. Thank you for the kind words. I was actually thinking myself that it may be a little flat still. Will work on the layers again. Ahhh I like that, sort of the finishing touch to make it a show piece only. I will work on this. I could also use the colors of the Starships in the border to make the actual Starship stand out. One of my biggest fears, which looks like it may have happened, is that the detail in the stand would become the main focal point and take away from the Starship, which is actually supposed to be the focus of the piece. Thank you! Thank you for the kind words!

Hey again everyone. I have been working, the last couple of days, on a stand for my mini MOCs. I did a Death Star square complete with turret. I was looking for constructive criticism to make it better. Here are the pictures: ALONE: WITH Y-WING MINI MOC: WITH X-WING MINI MOC: Thanks for looking, guys. Let me know what you think! -DJ

Okay, this is my final render. I am not messing with it anymore. Going through the LDD some more, I found the perfect guns for the X-wing. I also put the longer engines back on the y-wing, because it just looked better with the longer engines. I am not making any more changes!! (yea right! haha) I ordered the gun pieces for the x-wing, and I am burned out and done with ordering bricks. Here is the final final final products!! (yea right!)

Updated LDD with the parts that I ordered:

[MOC] Midi-scale Super Star Destroyer Executor
DonBrizzel replied to Pellaeon's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Bravo!! That looks fantastic. I may just have to attempt this when I can get the funds. Absolutely jaw dropping midi, I love it! -
Thanks guys! I have found and ordered all of my bricks. Now I play the waiting game! It turns out that some of the part numbers from the LDD were wrong. I had to do some research to get the correct part numbers and was able to order 90% of the parts fron Lego.com. The rest I was able to find on bricklink. I will post pictures again when I build them!
-
Okay, I went through Bricklink and bought what I could. There were still 13 pieces that I need that Brinklink did not have. Anyone have any other suggestions?
-
Thanks for the advice guys. I will check out Bricklink right now! And I will remember. It's Lego. Got it!

Hello everyone. My name is DJ, and I live in Maryland, US. I have loved legos and Star Wars my whole life, but could NEVER afford the sets that I desired. I only recently discovered the LDD and have been having a blast making legos with it. I then discovered that Lego has been doing mini Star Wars legos, and have been for quite some time, I don't know why I've never seen them until recently. I started doing research on them, but didn't like them. So I really wanted to do my own mini MOCs for the X-wing and Y-wing because I hated the ones that Lego put out, especially the Y-wing, yuck. I searched all over the internet, taking ideas from a lot of people's mini-mocs (including Prater Yed), combining them, and adding my own touches, to make an X-wing and Y-wing that I can say that I would be proud to build and display. Here they are! Now, on to my question. When I do the BOM for these sets, and go to Lego.com, I come up short on a ton of pieces. Is there a website or a store out there that I can do a one stop shop for all of the bricks that I would need to complete these sets? Thank you all for reading! -DJ
