Wow, the stern is amazingly built. I think that the whole ship is really rather good and thank you for sharing it.

LDD MOC: L'il Ernesto's Mexico on the Go
Tycho McKorley replied to SpiderSpaceman's topic in LEGO Town
I like it. If I saw some taco trucks running around my town that looked like that I would probably buy from them. -
As they say, necessity is the mother of invention. I have a very limited quantity of brown tiles (soon to be fixed thanks to Bricklink) and I didn't want to have floors with studs. So I did my best with what I had. In the end, I think it really works for the Forestmen because it gives their fort a more "rugged" feel that tiles wouldn't.

Nice creation. I like the details like the girls swimming in the water and the mushrooms on the ground.

I think it's a great looking catapult, but I too wonder how well it holds up when played with. I mean, even though most of us are adults here I assume that most of you, like me, still play with these toys from time to time.

I hate to hijack this thread, but is it okay if I use your sails and flags too? I've been wondering what to do about sails for my ship for some time, but I'd love use yours.

It looks like a small paradise. I think the 1 x 1 round light transparent blue bricks you used to indicate "bubbles" in the water was a nice touch.

Grouping Factions into a Super Faction of Castle
Tycho McKorley replied to Cpt. Dan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Like it was said before, it would make sense to group disparate because there was a lot of different heraldry on the medieval battlefield. Each lord and knight would have his own colors and design and their retainers and servants would wear corresponding livery. I wonder how they kept track of everybody though. :-/ -
Wow, great ships. I haven't seen anything in MLCAD in a long time, so it was nice to walk down memory lane. Thanks for sharing.

Impressive, impressive work. I think sculpting round shapes out of Lego bricks is difficult (I've only ever succeeded in making a basic dome) and so I'm in awe about what you've done here. Do you have any suggestions about how you made it?

What a cute truck! I think you've done a great job here. Seeing it really takes me back to the years I lived in Toronto.

Thanks. It was my first attempt at a waterfall so I'm glad it meets the approval of other AFOLs. I like the cutaway scene too, but now that I look at it I see a critical flaw that really bothers me. That's always what happens with my MOCs of course. In the end I see things I don't like about them that make me want to try something new.

I say keep your collection and then buy an Imperial Flagship. My philosophy is the more ships the merrier.

I really like it. I've never see brown and white combined in such an aesthetically pleasing way.

It looks like this is going to be amazing when you have it finished. I really like the method you adopted for the flower window (I don't have a better name for it) on the right in this picture.

Very nice MOC. You've added a great deal of details that really contribute to it. I also think that it's refreshing to see a ship done in the traditional Black Seas Barracuda color scheme. If I could make I recommendation for your next MOC, however, it would be that next time you should see if you can make the broadsides more sloped and less square. Regardless, this is an excellent creation and I thank you for sharing.

Thank you all for the kind comments. I will certainly generate more for my story and post it as time passes.

It looks like an excellent start. I'd imagine it's pretty close to accurate minifig scale (am I right?). I wish that I had the money to buy enough bricks so that I could build your LDD rendering for real.

Very nice work. Did you use pipe cleaners for the hats of the soldiers? If so, they seem to work rather well. You've followed the painting nicely and I enjoyed comparing the two.

Last year Classic-Castle.com sponsored the 32x32 challenge. The idea was to inspire builders to create castles and other creations that fit on the classic 32x32 baseplate. The other day, as I was working on another MOC, I saw my entry to that challenge sitting on a work table ready to be ripped with pieces. I will be demolishing it for parts soon, but I thought I'd share it here before it disapperas. Deep in the forest realms outside Amoricia, the former Lord Brund leads his band of renegades in opposition to the Brunthan Empire and their allies, the traitorous and oppressive Amorican lords. One of their primary hide-aways is deep in the forest in the midst of an old ruin. Rumor has it that it was built by Elves or other creatures of the Forest, but the treasures Lord Brund and his men have found inside the caves beneath the ruin indicate that it was once an important guard tower during the glory days of the Long and Glorious Imperium. Long since reclaimed by the forest, the Occupied Ruin is an ideal location for Lord Brund and his men to bide their time while they plan their next raid against the Bruntahn and other oppressors... (This is part of a larger story I'm working on that I'll be publishing someday) Here are the pictures (note that the pictures are links): I tried to make the edges of the cave "rough" to demonstrate that it's a cutaway from the mountain. Here is a link to the Entire Gallery. For those of you who would prefer Flikr, here's a link.

I throw in my vote for the Black Knight's Castle. It came out when I was quite young, but I was lucky that as a teenager I convinced a friend of mine to trade me his complete set for a Game Boy Color. While I think the Crown Knights and the new Kingdoms line have been and are exceptional, the old Black Knights Castle still stands supreme as my favorite castle set of all time.

Great work! I especially like the "creepy" stuff on the second floor. It makes for a nice detail. If I could make a recommendation, I would somehow cover the bottom floor with tiles or plates if I were you. The green makes it seem like the grass continues straight into the grocery store. Otherwise, this MOC is exceptional.

You have a well-built and beautifully sculpted ship here. I only have two recommendations for it: 1.) How about some more minifigs to populate it? MOCs are great, but minifigs bring them to life. 2.) Tiles might be nice to smooth out a few of the rough places. Otherwise, excellent work.

I like your layout. I also recommend somehow connecting the water in the center with a "canal" or river or something that goes off into oblivion. Other than that, I only wonder if your Lego city citizens feel afraid of the AT-ST that stands guard over them every day.

Well, that's the way of all Lego ships I suppose. Sooner or latter it's time to scuttle them so the parts can go on to bigger and better things.
