  1. Yeah, that's pretty easy to do. There's a lot of space in the undersection to turn the studs upside down, which is what the hinge plates were doing in the first place. How about this? It uses technic bricks and brackets to reverse the studs inside the nose undersection and has the same dimensions as the original. Stud.io file, extra parts list and instruction PDF This should be everything you need to make this mod. Disclaimer: not tested in real life. I just had a play in stud.io. It "should" be pretty solid though.
  2. Hi @Sucram Sorry to say, I have no photos with the cover off. I also don't intend to take any.... It's currently on a high shelf in a display box. It took a lot of delicate, careful work to get it up there and it ain't coming down for a long, long time :-)
  3. Many, many thanks to @monkypaws for making his instrctions available for free on rebrickable - link here. This page contains both a step-by-step set of instructions and a parts list. The details section contains a list of rare parts to check before attempting a build. (This has also been added to the first post).
  4. Since we're reviving this old topic now: I pulled the model out of storage earlier this year and took another crack at it. The engine mod is the same. Most of the bodywork has been changed. Here are some 95% complete WIP shots: And a beauty shot that didn't turn out too bad: I may post a final gallery here once I've found the time to finish the interior and got a better camera setup. Acknowledgements: I have borrowed ideas from Chrome Vader (with his kind permission), The BrickVault Falcon (I bought the instructions...), the second UCS model (nice printed bits and the tops of the docking rings are OK) and various posts about the docking rings from the UCS mods thread here on Eurobricks.
  5. (You need to picture lightning crashing around a remote Scottish castle somewhere and Mad Scientist Dave bringing the corpse of this topic back to life, aided by gravedigger @BaronStoke). IT LIIIVVVEEESSS!!!! I've refreshed the links on the first post, as requested. They all should work now, any problems give me a shout. The particular file you wanted: Engines - mod only
  6. @Gobbel, glad that you're OK with stud.io, thank you for the kind words. @monkypaws I appreciate that you are on holiday. When you're ready, I would still like a copy of the instructions you created so I can share a link in the first post: it would be nice for anyone else who wants to build it.
  7. You might want to chase up @monkypaws about that: he never sent me any instructions so the best I can offer is the most recent .io file:https://www.dropbox.com/s/e7zj68ot55dxpww/Phantom.io?dl=0 Also the stickers to go with it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9u46vqw6rrs36ii/Phantom Stickers.png?dl=0 The io file opens in bricklink's Stud.io: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/download.page You can use Stud.io to view and deconstruct the model. You can also connect to Bricklink from within Stud.io and generate the part list. Good luck!
  8. Thanks for the link! I watched the video shortly after it came out yesterday. Once again, very impressive work. It's great to see how the removable panels work and to see more of the interior details. Sadly, Texas is a bit far for me to go (there's ano ocean in the way) but good luck with the display.
  9. Thank you for the extra interior photos: they look perfectly fine to me. It's good to see the hatches in place in both the cargo holds. Thank you also for the photo of the landing gear. That 5-wide throwing disk piece is the perfect size, and it's clear that you modelled the landing gear closely on that of the miniature.
  10. I love a good Millennium Falcon model, and this one is gorgeous. I'm excited to see how closely you've followed the 32" plans (my favourite Falcon) and the results look amazing. So smooth! So detailed! Even the underside has all the correct details and areas of colour right where they're meant to be. I love the way you constructed the mandibles: they look really, really neat. The interior looks awesome as well. I especially like that you've included inner airlock doors on the docking rings: something I've always thought should be there even if we never see them. Did you build landing gear as well, or is it meant to be displayed only on the technic stand?
  11. As an alternative suggestion for the big cone piece: when I built my Falcon I used a trans-light-blue piece. I designed and printed out a sticker on my inkjet printer. My sticker file is here on my dropbox. My Falcon is in storage right now but you can check out photos on my flickr feed (link in my signature). If you want some close-ups I can be persuaded to dig the cockpit piece out for a quick photo shoot.
  12. Mostly the same pictures but some good interior shots as well: https://imgur.com/a/Ve9ATk5
  13. I wish you hadn't said that . I was just getting interested in this pocket Falcon. If they do a Razor Crest on it before we even know it's actual proper name, I'm going to be a bit sad.
  14. Funny to be seeing this question. I was having the exact same thoughts earlier today. I started sketching the front of this ship at lunchtime and working out which parts to use for a minifig-scale version. I don't know how far I'll get but I'll probably have a go in Stud.io soon, see what I come up with. Like icm says, this ain't no N-1. I did a moc of that in a day. This might take a bit longer.
  15. That looks great! I like the way the modified wings look, and I am pleased to see it built. I hope you and your son have a lot of fun with it. I'll send you a PM with my email address
  16. Life gets busy, doesn't it? Sorry to hear about the Covid, but glad to hear you're making progress. Take your time, get it right :-).
  17. I would love a copy of the instructions once you're done with them - I can make them available to anyone else who wants to build this. Good luck with your build! I also have both a son and a cat (although my son at age 15 is no longer excited by Lego) so I appreciate the challenges of keeping things built.
  18. Hey @monkypaws, so glad you like it! It's always good to receive feedback, and especially good to know that other people are enjoying the models I made. Credit where it's due: it's nice to be compared to a frickin' genius like Nick Trotta :-), but the idea for the cockpit came from @goatman461's Season 1 build. Looking at the photos again I realise that the section on the wings made up of 45 degree slopes could be redone with the Tile, Modified 2 x 2 Triangular, which hadn't come out when I made this originally. You'll need two in yellow and two in white, plus two 2x2 regular tiles and some plates for the underside. I'll leave the exact fix as an exercise for the reader.
  19. That last one is lovely - the v2/v3 hybrid. I like what you did with the head - that's an ingenious technique, and it brilliant that you got the lights and the eyestalk in there.Changing the lower modified tile to black "sells" it. The proportions look good, and I do like the whisk - but I slightly prefer the gun/arm platform from v3.
  20. Seconded. This has caught my attention. I really like the smoothness of the mandibles, and I think the curved dome is a great idea. I'd love to see more.
  21. I'm pretty improbable all right Feel free to ask if anything else is puzzling you, it's no bother.
  22. Thanks @herrodanyo - that you want to build it is quite a compliment! Sadly, no: I don't have an instructions file, and I have no plans to make one. It's mainly based on @Inthert's model, sold by @BrickVault. I don't want to tread on the toes of either of those fine gentlemen. However, you can get very close if you build that model in grey and then keep modding. Most of what I did is pretty obvious, and I'm always willing to help with non obvious bits. As a starter for 10, the weirdest bits are: The bar of minifig hands on the leading edge of the wings is the sketchiest thing I've ever done in Lego, being just jammed in there and held on by friction. The pipes leading to the turbonic venturi power assimilator are also pretty suss, being some space blasters wedged under the curved slopes. There's a (genuine Lego) rubber band on the tail, and the cut away section on the right hand side uses cut old dark grey hoses. The stickers are from a "golden yellow" a4 vinyl sheet bought from eBay. It's a perfect match for Lego yellow :-).
  23. That's a shame. It probably won't help much with accuracy of the front of the engines.
  24. This one? https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=79850#T=C
  25. Thank you for the kind words! I had a lot of fun & some frustration adding the details: I'm glad someone appreciated it :-). I did consider that part you linked but decided that making it curved was more important. I think the actual front is rounded enough to justify that. I agree that a 1 brick tall hollow cone would be best, as you describe: but I'd also like it slightly rounded - more of a dome than a cone. The new official set is using a new part as you pointed out - and it looks like it might be hollow? I can't quite tell from the box art but it looks like the center is an existing part, a printed round modified tile. If it is hollow all the way through, I plan on using it may be the best option we'll get
