Are Star Wars MOC Builders becoming a dying breed?
Brickdoctor replied to HJR-Holland's topic in LEGO Star Wars
And that, I think is one of the reasons for the MOC drought: The belief that the sets are already good enough. I realize that there are the fans who just want to play with the sets, and that's fine, I understand that. It's where we all started. But I think more fans need to move past that and challenge themselves to build MOCs that are more accurate and just as fun to play with as the sets*. LEGO is, after all, a building toy, and it should be a goal of any Fan of LEGO to be continually learning to build better things with it.*For example, look at Anio's creations. He forces himself to build within the same rules as TLG's designers, avoiding illegal connections, sticking to parts that have been recently released, optimizing the number of parts used, and keeping the entire model up to a certain level of toughness and strength. He still makes jaw-dropping UCS models. -
Are Star Wars MOC Builders becoming a dying breed?
Brickdoctor replied to HJR-Holland's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This. This is what every fan of LEGO Star Wars should be thinking. One of the great things about a LEGO community is that we can all share building techniques. When you see someone else's MOC that's better than yours, look for the specific ways that it's better, compliment the other builder, and look to see how you can improve yours so that it's no longer obsolete. And yes, I think that a lot of members tend to shy away from the fanon MOCs, regarding them as plain old sci-fi, which they shouldn't. It's not easy to make a model that fits in with the 'Star Wars aesthetic'. -
Maybe they're subtle or obscure references if you ask the average person, but not on this forum, I think.

Finally!

All contests* have to be approved by EB's staff first, so you should first contact a moderator of the theme forum appropriate for the event you want to hold. If you're allowed to go ahead with holding the event and offering tags as a prize, then I'm sure that moderator will be able to either help you create the tag(s) or find another staff member who can.*tournaments, MOC-offs, buildoffs, etc.

It could still be done... it probably just wouldn't be fair to the rest of the party since it'd have to be not only a bunch of enemies, but a bunch of high-Level enemies. (Or we could have another Creeper massacre, that's fine with me. )
-
The approach already taken by Sandy seemed pretty fair, though; just kept throwing enemies at me until eventually the Aura KO'd me.
-
Can we make a scroll for that? I need a scroll with that effect. That's okay, people do that in public in Rules and Discussion all the time, too.

I have a bad feeling about this...

On the other hand, though, Flare spent a lot of Gold upgrading his weapons and optimizing their elemental strengths, so he can get into trouble as a Warden because of his low Defense. I do think he'd do better as a Hunter. Hmm... Druid is always nice, so there's Sandy. Any healer would be a good idea, actually. Pie would be a nice addition; he can heal even if he doesn't do it too often. (As far as I can tell.)

Even though Masked's quest is over, we're going to wait to do Hybros-Guts-Docken again on Guffington 2, right, not the current Zepher quest in the Hall? Check (the ceiling) for White Witches, or maybe secret police wolves.
-
Ah, I missed that.

Flipz, the Confused effect applies to Counterstrikes, too.

The Uruk-Hai Army set is worth the money when you're building Historic/Fantasy/Heroica. Lots of good pieces there.Sorcerers can Confuse their Healing Staff targets? I thought that would just be a "No Healing".

There are a bunch of different varieties, both printed and stickered, in different tile sizes.

LEGO 10227 - Longer "stick" to better secure rear cockpit?
Brickdoctor replied to Haderach's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yep, the nL is the length in studs. -

I just use a knife - an old X-Acto knife that's getting a little dull, but it does the job. Watch the angle of the blade so you don't slice right through one of the cardboard flaps instead of separating them. -
Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Brickdoctor replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
Can I get a couple players to play Geomancer and follow me around to buff my SP? Or maybe not; don't want to get Petrified... -
I'll merge this with the May 4th Sale topic......and done.
-
Quest 4 was semi-open-world, and the players were free to return to shops to buy stuff. The problem was that I didn't drop enough Gold, so they only ended up pooling together some Gold to buy Tanma the Cloak of the Elven Spy.

SP: 5 for 60 Gold is still well below the prices for SP-granting Headwear in the Marketplace.
-
You have it listed as 5 SP, not 5 WP, and in both cases, an artifact is priced differently from a regular weapon or shield, so it shouldn't be 50 Gold just because there are 50 Gold SP: 5 shields in the Marketplace. (For comparison, the SP: 1 Headwear is 30 Gold, the SP: 3 Headwear is 120 Gold, and if you subtract the cost of a Scroll of Frailty and its imbuing from the only SP: 5 artifact, it's still worth 130 Gold.)
-
Wait, is that a typo? That's an SP: 5 artifact that's essentially imbued with all nine gems, and you're selling it for 60 Gold?
-
WBD is/was already working on an overhaul of the rules. Not sure why they haven't been implemented.
-
I don't think so. It's been there since the beginning, apparently, but we've never decided to allow Gold to be stolen in the Arena. In the past I think we've played it as a regular Miss, which is what I did.
