No, not a shot of a Challenge 3 bit. Sorry. Just a WIP thats sitting here for the last 2 months. Currently occupied with sorting through thousands of bricks (Yeah. In the background!) i have no time for building. Wanted to share this bit though. It's a chariot for my salesman I introduced in my Albion build. Wanted to create a series with this moc and a story around it.. Hopefully i manage this rather soon, as well as Challenge 3. Any comments? I was quite stuck as I needed to reconstruct the whole chariot to include the wheels in a way that looked appropriate.. Best regards!

Finally someone uses these hairs as blackberries. I had the idea some time ago but never had the chance to get my hands on a large enough amount of these! Great freebuild! I myself am still in the middle of sorting of my bricks and had the time to finish my contribution for the Hogwarts Community Build. If someone is interested and if I'm allowed to post this offtopic stuff ;) Just that you know, whats going on.. I hereby present my contribution to the The Hogwarts Community Build. As chess lover the choice wasn't hard and i ended up with the Chess Room. Building wizards chess figures that have the ability to fight each other? Challenge accepted: I chose to build the room itself in a movie-oriented look but pretty soon i struggled with the golden rills surrounding the black and white fields. So i kept it simple. I didn't want to include Harry, Ron or Hermine so i decided to build the non-featured scene when Minerva McGonagall errects the chess field to protect the Sorcerers stone. Fellow guildsmen! I'm greatful to hear that my embassy was chosen first place as the competition was a harsh one. Just seeing the amazing work of Derfel or ZC made it clear to me that winning this challenge went impossible. But there I am. And back again or so to say. My last weeks were stressful and more than reading the announcement and some of your very kind comments and congratulations wasn't possible. We had a death in our family and some more bad things happened so I also wasn't motivated much to do something.. I would love to present something new but as things went it's not even finished. I'm working on it ;) (seems strange that constructing a gipsy caravan would take more than 3 weeks but yeah.. Snotty.) I also wasn't able to take decent pictures of my embassy but I'm hoping to get them done during the next days. (one of the main reasons I didn't even thought of winning this one. Great embassy and crappy pictures doesn't go well in my opinion). Now i will stop lamenting.. :) I love the new challenge! I think I am still a bit Skyrim infected although I didn't even play since January so I'm right now thinking of some Dwarven machines guarding the crystal or something but I'm sure that the final thing will be rather different. I don't like the idea that something that precious would be guarded by "normal" beasts like werewolfs, giant cats or native people.. Did you had any ideas? (Undead sounds very nice but I'm not sure if there are the right parts available to do some decent ones..) Furthermore: Great builds for the new challenge from our guild leaders! I think ISC did the best job (I just like his throne room design) but that dragon throne Derfel came up with is a beauty! Best regards! So. Now I will be shut and grateful! Ha! Finally someone else that also uses cheese slopes for roof building! I'm curious, how yours will look like in the end! The current version is a bit too flat in my opinion but maybe thats just because I like them a bit steeper. But: I definitely like the fireplace - great idea! (I'm currently working on my own town (also cheese slope roofs) but i think that i will have to build everything apart. Thanks for all the kind words - I appreciate if you like my work! I am currently staying in Hamburg on vacation so I only will answer some questions.. (yeah, mobile Internet is great but I'd prefer to have my bricks with me ;) Personally I love building roofs with cheese slopes and I would recommend it as it looks much more real in my opinion. It kinda has become my style now but I want to show you how this little "magic" is done so that everybody will have this opportunity. I developed some interesting techniques but after the "magic" is revealed, they are actually quite simple ;) It will take me some time to write something like a guide though but I think it will be worth a try. Any advice / opinion on that? Regarding ordering great amounts of cheese slopes is rather based on luck. I wouldn't build such roofs if i hadn't had the chance to buy about 800 of them for a cent each. Despite of this it's still a pricy technique as 800 slopes aren't even enough for one side. I need about 1.5-2K per house. (considering bricklink prices, you can do the math ;) ) Regarding to the luck point i can state that some of the next houses will have sand green as well as dark red roofs. My local Lug had them in their Lugbulk - Luck 2.0. Looking forward to this creations! Unfortunately this lodge doesn't have any interior due to a lot of snot in it. I will provide background pictures that will make clear that there isn't much place for an interior.. It's definitely on my agenda to include a "working" interior but I'm still working on making some of the used techniques much less space intensive. Maybe I'll have to built them separately but I'm not quite happy with such a solution.. Video game? You may know this style - it is based on some concept art of Skyrim.. The art book is a great source of inspiration as well as the game itself (though I don't have any time for it atm). I will provide something to compare.. :) I will be back on the weekend so I think pictures will be up on Sunday.. Best regards!

(I for example will follow Ninfoodle the Peddlar on his journeys through Historica. You may know him from my Alchemist in Albion). I started building the first chapter just this morning, but sketching ideas since christmas i think. My "journey" will also tackle the mini-challenges as well as my city, it's definitely time that i take my approach on these.. Best regards!

Oh. Mitgardia. Wrong guild ;) I just want to ask if someone has an idea where my embassy could take its place. Im kinda desperately looking for a spot for weeks and as i have to finish it's surrounding on the weekend.. (This is a work-in-progress-pic shot last weekend and it's almost finished but i hadn't time to take a decent photograph..) I would love if someone would like to have my embassy in his / her city but I also no problem with a spot in the wilderness.. I hope, someone can help me with this problem.. I'm hoping to finish my embassy on the weekend, so i definitely love the idea of new challenges! (Yeah. Hadn't even time to take myself on the current ones - which is indeed a shame - but I can make the promise that starting with february i will have plenty of time to bring up some great mocs. Ideas are already developed.) History seems also a great idea.. There are just too many unclear facts about Avalonia. And I would love to see some historical Avalonia-Mocs. For those who asked: My embassy developed greatly and the roof ist almost done. Maybe i will post some behind-the-scenes-pictures as my roof construction is a bit special. We will see. Best regards!

My city "Moria" has still two embassy spots avaible. I would love to acommodate an Mitgardian as well as a Nocturnian embassy as Kayne was responsible for the excellent Kaliphin embassy that was errected within my town. In my opinion it would be very fair to offer every country an embassy spot. I'm also looking for a spot in Mitgardia for my embassy. The location should be more a remote location or a smaller city. Great one! As i already mentioned on flickr, it's great, how well an "Avalonian" design incorporates with the Kaliphin' colors. Keeping it short (i have to go to bed, it's 2.30 in the morning..) - some critique: The tower's section right under the roof looks a bit too "blocky" in my opinion. I'd incorporate something more filigree but i can't think of an option right now. Maybe will i get an idea.. Strong entry - i hope mine can stand this.. ;) Best regards!

Nice work everybody in the embassies and the Free builds! Just wanted to share a work-in-progress- impression as i started the work in my embassy today. It will take it's place somewhere in Mitgardia and it's design evolves mainly from various concept arts of Skyrim and World of Warcraft. The construction is a bit hard as i wan't to achieve a special look. Also a bit part intensive as you can see on the roof. And I'm also short on modified bricks which will make the construction more difficult - at the end the building will have doubled it's length. (Please excuse the bad qualitiy. It's just a work in progess shot and i definitely wasn't able to take this one from my building table as you can see from the background.) Comments and critique are definitely appreciated! Aaah.. And i definitely will join the arena games! ;) Best regards!

Glad i had no chance to even start on my embassy. Did much brainstorming though and developed some ideas. Not to forget the packages of bricks that arrived throughout the last weeks.. ;) Think I will construct something like a surrounding story for it this weekend, featuring a spot in Kaliphin, Nocturnus and finally Mitgardia.. I want to test myself on every of these landscapes.. For those who may ask: I'm building my embassy in Mitgardia, going for a rebuilt ruin look.. Lets see with what i'll come up with..

Indeed, genious. But I think that is something, we expect from our leader ;) As these challenges are to improve ourselves, I'd like to add something: The build itself has a very norse look and feel but to me, the Avalonian part is missing too much. Sure we should incorporate both settings, but to me it feels that it's too much Mitgardian - like we Avalonians bought a Mitgardian house, put our flag on it and named it embassy. Don't get me wrong, the build itself is excellent. It perfectly suits the Mitgardian feel and I myself think that it pushes Mitgardia even more and that Derfel once more establishes a style. For another guild. The inspiration from Skyrim is in fact not to be overlooked ;) - marched over the bridge to Dragon's Reach once more just 30 minutes ago ;) But anyway, I'm loving this. Now I need to refurbish some of my ideas.. Didn't even start with this challenge :/ (but my reservoir of dark green cheese slopes is constantly growing ;) ) Best regards, i hope you aren't offended! Good day! Just a short information: Hereby i have to withdraw my offer to build an embassy in an mitgardian town.. I have some special ideas that will need my embassy to be located out of city walls inmidst a natural environment. I'm still building in Mitgardia, no doubt, but it will be something special, i promise. Have to wait to construct it until february, though. Best regards!

Finally I'm claiming land! Took me some time to figure out what I want to achieve with my planned city. I finally came to a conclusion and hereby claim the following island: The greater island is called "Moria" with "Moria" also being the name of the small city located there. It is surrounded by the Pastures of Moria that feature - just like the name says - olive plantations and other farms. It also has a mine - but more on that later on. Moria will feature a hideout of the new thieves guild, not an unknown one but a worthy residence. Furthermore you will find a small harbour with fishers, a naval siege weapon manufactory, a wizards shop / residence (for Archmage Septua), the official manor of Sir Moriartus, a market place, a tavern, stables, a guildhall and finally something like a church and a graveyard. For all Non-Avalonians: There is plenty of room for your embassies if you choose to honor Moria and it's residents. For a building style take a look at my watchtower or the alchemist building i did for Albion. The small island will be reserved for something miraculous. More on that later. Yes - looks like a huge project, you might say. I hope, i can display and build the whole thing as a connected one. I will open a new topic just as Legonardo with Glevum did when I finished the first building (which definitely won't be until the 2nd week of the new year - new years eve and holidays in Berlin will take some time).
