It is a smart way to stop providing the service without actually stopping it: just raise the prices to absurd levels and only desperate or highly uninformed people will end up using it. I guess Lego got so used to the high profit margins that the sets give them that they can't accept very well a service that has probably low profit margins but pleases the fans the most. So, the solution, just keep raising the prices. But BL can also be a trap. There are so supposedly high volume big stores there that have prices so high that I just can't understand how they are high volume, how they can survive. Are there so many fools in this world?

No, it is not similar, it is BETTER! hehehehe. Thanks for showing it to me, I like it.

I am TIRED of trying to figure out which color is which! So, with the help of LDD, LDD Manager, Photoshop, OneNote and Excel (don't ask me why I needed all these apps...) I made this table that is supposed to be complete (for all colors available ATM in LDD). I guess this already exists somewhere but since I was not able to find something similar, I decided to do a conversion table myself. From BrickLink to Lego and vice-versa in alphabetical order.

Well, problem solved! I mean, not solved, but narrowed down. It is my computer, something is wrong with it regarding specifically the PAB page. Tested with Chrome, IE, Firefox, Opera (PAB page crashed Opera!), none work. Then, I tested using one of my virtual machines that runs WinXP and it is working. The page loads, only the bag has problems. I don't know what is wrong. I have cleaned temp files from browsers, flash is working properly, cookies are allowed, it always worked but now it does not, out of the blue. Well, at least I can't blame Lego this time...

I DID but not at PAB, at BL! I have spent too much money in BL. As for PAB, I go there often to check the "official retail prices" of some pieces, since my memory is too old to memorize them. Good idea. I have VPN, I will try some "countries" and see what happens. Some months ago, youtube was really bad, slow, failing, etc., but when I connected to it via VPN, no problems. Go figure... USA alternate not working, France not working, Chile not working. I think I have some problems with my computer, will try a reboot. Weird...

Bricks cracking... just from being connected to one another?

I am not sure the weight logic applies to why we get spares. Some bags have small parts and they don't have extras. Some bags have the same small parts and they have extras. I think we get extras because TLG wants us to, because they are a nice company and can spare a few cents out of their many dollars of profits per set. -
Weird, very weird. It is not working here yet. In Chrome and IE, I can browse the selection but can't add to the cart (bag). In Firefox, I can't even browse. I think Lego blacklisted my IP address...

PAB is down here in the US. Is this just some maintenance problem?

Seems a good deal. Still, that means 3.2 grams of plastic per dollar. Usually, it should be around 15 g/$, but with Architecture sets the retail average is 7 to 9 g/$. Oh, just for comparison, you can buy silver at 1.45 g per dollar. So, your plastic is worth half the price of silver, almost.

They probably decided to stop selling to outsiders because it would deplete their stock in a few hours... They want to have it for their local customers, which makes sense.

I was conjecturing the dreamy idea that only makes sense in my mind... Lego is as greedy as most of the big companies out there which means: very much. Cuusoo gives the creator 1% of NET sales. What exactly is NET sales, IDK, probably the value of the sales after discounting cost of material, production, designing, taxes, marketing, salaries, rents, investments, depreciation, transport, etc etc etc.

Let's assume, based on the fact that this 21021 set, and others, have/had a limited production of 10k units or less, then let's assume that Lego is willing to make business, I mean, a new OFFICIAL Lego set, for anyone with enough cash to pay for the whole run of 10k units. So, if I create a MOC - assuming it is a cool MOC - and pay TLG to make 10k of it, it would be a good investment, right? I create a MOC with a cost of, let's see, 30 dollars, it will have the "official Lego tag", a bunch of crazies will get crazy to get it, because it is "exclusive, limited quantities" and will be paying a lot more than the 30 dollars that I paid TLG, then I become rich! All I need is a 300k investment. I can turn these 300k into a million dollar easy easy with the help for the Lego crazies...

My opinion is that the only sets that TLG should limit its distribution are the ones that were never produced. Limiting distribution of a set is evil, wrong, suspicious, bad, lame, hideous, etc. Want to go for the insider tour? Pay the cost and that is it, there will always be plenty of people wanting to pay for it, even if they get no "gifts".

There is an official video some place that says Sagrada Familia is scheduled to be completed by, if I remember right, 2025. It is an awesome video, shows what will be built to finish it. I wish I had saved the link and I feel lazy to search.

I am an Electrical Engineer, above 12 volts . Yes, I remember while I was in the university, we engineers used to joke about architects, that they don't care if it is feasible or not, they create their designs and hand them to us and we have to do the magic.

I had tried the lance bar, it has a "stop" at one of its ends, isn't it this one? Anyway, it fit well and the "stop" was essential, but it was too long so indeed I'd have to cut it and I wanted to avoid as much as possible to "create" an unoriginal part (purism...). Also I need 4 of them. So, in the end, if you look at the part 61184, it is similar to the lance bar but smaller, so it fit perfectly.

Oh, ok, sorry, my mistake, you are absolutely right! If there is one thing that I am is practical. I hate form over function.

Yes, the lipstick should be 2L, according to my attempts of measuring it via LDD. But, upon trying it and then trying to find other alternatives, I think I have found the perfect solution for my particular situation: the part # 61184. According to LDD, it will be perfect. According to real life, I need to wait for some parts to arrive and then test. I had this thing that the part should be 2L but upon trying the lipstick and other parts, I found that I was mistaken. I need a "3L with a twist", meaning that the 3L is not good but the 61184, by having one of its end bigger, fit well. Thank you all, although the parts mentioned here may not be useful right now, I was unaware of them and it is good to know them for future uses. I will show here what I am doing after it is done and tested, it is actually really a very simple thing but for me even simple things can be a challenge... I started with Lego custom building only two months ago.

Oh, ok, that makes sense. Since I am not an architect (I am an engineer) what I see in a Lego set is: is it pretty, is it not? If it is pretty, then I may buy it. We have, or had, a famous architect in Brazil. Oscar Niemeyer, and, to be honest, in my layman eyes, I can't like almost anything that he designed. Too much design, too little practicality. But the guy is very famous, at least in Brazil; he designed our capital city where I happened to live for many years.

Why are people fighting to pay more than it is worth?
Vee replied to Vee's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Totally agree with it. This is exactly what I think about my Lego hobby, although I assume that for two sets (6754 and 5771) I have recently paid 10 to 15 dollars above their retail prices since they were retired (and I bought them sealed) , I have this feeling that the only wholesaler of Lego in the world is Lego itself. Could that be? -
These look interesting, I could buy a big one and make a few of the smaller ones that I need. But as you've said they are not as rigid, right?, and the one thing that I need is that it should be rigid. And all of these sizes, from 2L to 30L+, in steps of 1L, are they all official Lego sizes? It is crazy!

Hi, I know about the bar 3L (part #87994) and the bar 4L (part #30374). Is there any part that could be used as a "bar 2L"? And "bar 5L"? There are so many lengths for axles, what about bars, only 3L and 4L? Thank you.

14% fees! Wow, they are stealing money from the sellers. I was excited about this set but upon some reflection I see now some negative points and I will almost certainly not buy it: - too expensive - I am not a fan of the Simpsons, never watched a single episode, and I would be paying for royalties of something that does not interest me at all - there are too much interior and too little exterior and the colors in the interior are mostly basic, basic yellow, green, etc... colors that don't please me so much - also, I like Lego as a display toy so I like the exterior, the interior is not important, and the exterior of this house is kind of simple; compare it to the haunted house and the haunted house is much nicer. - all minifigures are ugly to me (well, I could sell them in ebay but I have no idea how much I would make) All in all, I should pass. Maybe in a promotion with 40% discount that will never happen, I would think about it. -

That's a tricky question. Lego ships to _some_ countries and even so not everything it has to offer, worldwide. -
That's what I did, but via their website, they have a special page dedicated to missing parts, like the screenshot above shows. I think if I had used the phone the answer would be the same: "we are surprisingly sold out on this part and so it will take longer...unless you want to pay for it...". But they should, eventually, send me the part free of charge. I don't need it but I want it, I paid for it. (and I may need it in the future...)
