    I know there are some that work with pinion and rack but I want to build it as small as possible and the string mechanism is the only way I know at the moment.

    First I don't have any idea of those machines. I thought this mechanism but I don't know if it is correct.     Has anyone a part list of Lego pieces that you can use as wheel?, gears, wheels, round bricks, group of parts, radars, etc. It would be nice to have one ordered by size.

    The important thing is that the track rod has to be in line with the suspension point, for me is the only way for a perfect steering. You can try pushing any of my axles, in none of them the steering is affected by travel suspension. Front axles are not a problem because the drive axle doesn´t mind, when you have got more than one steering axle the party starts . I build my MOCs to work best but if you want to do a trial truck it may be better to lose that precision and gain strength and simplicity of construction.

    I see this pic many times. The real Tatras haven´t got a perfect steering, the steering angle changes with the suspension because the drive axle is right in the middle. I found my solution and the geometry is perfect but you have to move up or down the drive axle.

    But you have to find the perfect tension and I don´t know if it will work under more weight, I have to do more tests. I bought hundreds of the large ones 2 years ago and I cut them what I need, this way I can build for example a pisten bully with the large hoses.

    Tatra steering is a nightmare... suspension is easy in comparison.
