Welcome to life as an adult collector of Lego. I have so much old stuff packed away and unopened sets (mostly Star Wars and recent releases) that I have to just imagine what they look like built. Nowhere to put it all. No time to build or look at it. Not enough money to afford everything of interest. Last year I built Optimus Prime, the Nexo Knights sets I bought on their release (lava monsters as a fantasy castle faction, nexos as a space faction), and a couple of Marvel spaceships. One of which has its updated version released this year, it's so old! I haven't opened the new Castle yet, nor the companion sets, nor the blacksmith house, nor the 2 Space sets. All the Elves sets are still unopened somewhere, yet to be built. Dozens of Star Wars sets dating back to Episode VII's release and later, all stored unopened in big cardboard boxes, all waiting for a 10 bedroom house to fall into my lap or something.

I only just saw that the minifigs all have the same torso & legs, regardless of the helmet/arms/accessory colour. Adding your own faction colour is a piece of cake. Most obvious starting points are black and red, but any colour that a decent helmet comes in...

Ongoing Transformers Rumors and Discussion
Artanis I replied to NoOneOfImportance's topic in LEGO Licensed
How about Optimus Prime's trailer, since they forgot to do that last time? It needs to be iconic (or it won't sell enough to warrant more), so that means the likes of Bumblebee, Megatron, Soundwave. Megatron is obviously an issue, since TLG will not make a pistol, sniper rifle or tank. (The tank is not really iconic either.) A Megatron release would be strange with something other than the iconic G1 mode. But I wonder if a Galvatron plasma cannon mode would work for him? TLG have no problem with ancient or futuristic weapons, it's only present-era stuff they won't do. Getting a Megatron robot to fold into a Galvatron cannon might be a challenge... Bumblebee would work as a VW Beetle or something from the movies, they're recognisable enough. They can't just pump out Autobots though, so if there's a Bumblebee there needs to be a Decepticon at some point. Soundwave is probably the go, or *shudder* Starscream. Devastator would be so cool! -
6 wheels looks more of an improvement than it sounds

That is the very definition of scalping. Shame on you.
-
It had better NOT sell out in a few hours, it goes live at 3am my local time

What role did red represent in Galaxy Squad? There was chat about it, but I'm not sure that I recall being overly convinced about colours clearly representing roles.

Hard to believe it's taken us all this time to think up a "City Castle/Pirates" joke

Sauron very much has a physical form during the time. Gollum got to see him during his imprisonment and torture. Further to that, Frodo & Sam were never there!
-
Those places are not really near each other. It's like they're all in the same US state, but still 100s of km apart. Cirith Ungol (where Sam rescues Frodo) is very near Minas Morgul (the home of the Witch King), which is @50km from Minas Tirith. Barad-Dur is 45km further east of Mount Doom, 160km from the Black Gate, and probably a similar distance from Cirith Ungol. . Having said that, I wouldn't put it past TLG to put anything Mordor-related inside the tower, and wouldn't mind either.

Orcs have to eat something! And not just maggoty bread

I keep forgetting to say, but that photo jogged my memory, that the leg print weirds me out a bit. It looks like they're all wearing a cod-piece.
-
I'll be changing more than the wheels! I think balloon or Ice Planet tyres are the go, there. The cab is too narrow and square. Looks weird. The tray needs enlarging to fit the modules.
-
Is anyone else underwhelmed by the design of the little truck in the base set? And all it does is have that orange dirt thing go up & down on it... or do the modules fit it? Missed opportunity if not.

Interesting, hopefully this continues for future series. Much better than weighing boxes or feeling bags- 574 replies

Just the police faction. Regarding the modules, the homeliness (for want of a better description) of the base, and the plain colours (not that that is unique, just a contributing factor). The way it kinda feels closer to home than older themes, but not Earth-based. Maybe not as heavy a resemblance as those other subthemes
-
That video was painful to watch until I muted it. Then it was excellent. Well done to the set designers, the shapes & functions are very good. The modularity is a great feature, the minifigs are fairly good... only really one thing needed to change: either the windscreens or the white bricks should've been a bright colour. Then it would've been a proper Space theme (and they could drop the City label). It's like Galaxy Squad meets Space Police 3, but City-fied. As it is, I will go for most of these regardless. But I wonder if anyone has any practical suggestions for improving the colour scheme of these sets?
-
I'd like one of those themes too (with or without the cool banners). I don't know what happened to all the other ones (maybe incompatible with current software?) but I only see 1 actual theme plus 2 identical default [non]themes available. I think Hinckley made the old ones?

Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
Artanis I replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I finally found the picture everyone has been talking about all year... probably not my thing, I passed on the previous version (very expensive set for the time, and only had 2 knights). I don't really care about the civilian angle of this theme. Might just hunt down some minifigs and save some money for the other sets mentioned just above -

I would have loved that. As a long time fan of LEGO Space 12 for this particular theme isn't enough. Definitely. So many possibilities for throw-backs, tributes, unique originals, re-colours of both vintage & recent.

Better call the police! If they're not final images, they're not far off them.

Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
Artanis I replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Definitely. And I said something similar a few years ago, while also wanting other (unspecified?) brown-ish colours. They made two! -
At least "Classic Space" is easy to define as a single subtheme, unlike "Classic Castle" which has no clear lines, really. Everything transitioned within existing factions. . Regarding this rumoured set, I also thought that the Blacktron II torso could be a 'clue', with either a BII or SPII ship coming. The reason I think Blacktron I is a bit unlikely, is because we already got one of those, and it's not like TLG is pumping dozens of these actual-Space sets out for us. I'd welcome it, of course, but I think we'll get something else.

Everyone wants the 70s helmet in new colours, but I actually want the 80s helmet in brown (and dark pink)! I always immediately swap Classic helmets for the better one and stick a visor on it, (never liked the bucket helmet,) but the brown ones still don't have a proper helmet. I just posted about this release's pics in a different thread... not sure what it was, it seemed that people were talking about these? Would've been better in here, oh well
