  1. Actually that's another reason why we're likely to see Bat-sets next year, what with it being the 70th anniversary of the character and all. All the little things that only you and I will notice.
  2. Oh, the Shanghai set is awesome. Two superb cars, as well as lots of new figures. Getting two fedoras in black is great, and the new Indy is a nice touch. Willie looks okay. I like the hairpiece, even if it's not quite perfect for Willie. However, the cars more than make up for it. I am so getting this. The flying wing I'm not as keen on. It looks okay, but I'm not sure I really want it. Thanks for the pictures.
  3. I just buy the ones I want when I want. I'll get them all sometime anyway. I need to get Watchmen before the film though, I've given up getting it from the library. And DV of course. Sounds good. I honestly haven't got the room to make any more Gotham buildings, sadly. Just Arkham and the Batcave/Wayne Manor. Um... no, not yet. Thing is, there isn't a good place to get DVDs anywhere near me. At all. So I have to actually be going somewhere before I can get them, I can't just nip into town and pick something up. As for the films... I presonally wouldn't get them unless I found them on offer. I'm not really a film watcher anyway, and I'm no a big enough fan of those two to justify getting them at full price. But if they were on offer, then I'd get them. They were both released as exclusive to one individual store chain in October 2005 and August 2006 respectively. But Vol.1 was rerelased as a non-exclusive (but exactly the same) June 2008. With any luck, I'm hopeful Vol.3 will appear soon. Oh, I like that. I think it looks better made like a real card. I'm not sure how I'll put it in the Batcave yet though, whether I'll stand it up or put it on the cave wall somehow. Not really, but I can see why it was used in Year One, as it fit in with the tone of the story. This is far from a complete reveal thankfully, there's Star Wars to come as well. Batman's more likely to be Summer anyway, we may not see pictures till later on. They do all look pretty good though. I only ever had two Pirate sets when I was younger. One of the ships, and a small raft that was one of my two first sets, along with a small Castle catapult. I'm still trying to track them down though, see what they look like, as my parents didn't keep the boxes or the instructions.
  4. Substitute it for something else. Buy the Advent Calendar instead of another set, of about the same value. I think I've managed to convince myself that I don't need the City one as well though. There are an awful lot of comics I want as well. It's really not good. However, I'll get round to them eventually. Gotham project, eh? Sounds neat. I got the four-film boxset a few years ago (for a birthday, I think). I'm not as big a fan of those films as I perhaps should be, but I guess they're still a good watch. Mostly. I think I can get my DVD player chipped to accept all regions, but that costs quite a bit. And I'd have to get it done on every DVD player I'm likely to watch them on. You know, I actually felt a little bit sorry for Joker when he was defeated at the end. I mean, sure, he kidnapped Robin and murdered a family, but still. I'll get back to you on the Batcave entrances soon, I'm in a bit of a rush right now. No actually, I found this website. The classic Joker card is really nice, so I used that one. I printed it off, making sure it was the right size, and stuck it on some sketch pad paper I found, and it's pretty sturdy. It's ever so slightly bigger (like, really slightly) than a real playing card. I wouldn't mind if they went for that angle, but I would mind if they went for that angle with Jolie. I don't find her a particularly good actress either. Hmm... you know how Catwoman is always surrounded by cats? Well... maybe we could rename the character for Jolie: Orphanwoman. Yeah, so do I. I think I may have to get some of the Pirates stuff, yeah. Some of the sets really do look great. I think some of the City stuff might be on the cards as well. When I was young, I had a real fascination with farm machinery and equipment. Stuff the animals, they didn't interest me at all, but the machinery... So I think I might have to at least get the tractor, so I can reconnect with that part of my childhood.
  5. Like Batbrick said, they're more likely to be villains. Plus they're generally better known as villains, even among comic geeks. And I'm guessing that we'll actually play as all the villains within the game, rather than just Batman and Robin on every level like on the Heroes side. Maybe he'll change part way through a level or something? Or maybe you can buy Dr Langstrom as a Free Play character. He's not really been seen much since the 70s has he? Save for a few appearances that is.
  6. Just thought I'd wander over here and offer my thoughts on the new sets. You're not going to catch me though, oh no. I'm much to quick for that. Okay, so they're not the Pirate sets of old. But they were never going to be. They were always going to be modernised somehow. That in mind, I have to say I do rather like these sets. The cannon one is pretty nice. I mean, it's a small set, with two nice figures and a decent set of parts. The cannon is silver-grey I think, and that gold torch is a pretty neat idea. The figures are good, with nice torsos, sort of modern versions of the old ones. No surprises in the choices of heads though... Um... that's not a kraken. That's an octopus. That aside, I rather like this set as well. Again, two cool figures, and a red octopus. The two-tone parrot is really cool and the raft itself doesn't look all that bad either. The island one is probably my least favourite here, but there are still some nice bits. That's a dark blue boat for one. And is the bearded pirate wearing torn trousers? I spy some dynamite in the fort. I'm not as keen on this set either, but it's still quite nice. Six figures, and flaky walls, it's all good. I quite like the ship though. The mermaid figurehead is a nice touch, and I guess we've finally got the token captive female in a Pirate set. An Agents shark, another dark blue boat and some gold pieces as well, which is nice. I think I might have to get this one as well.

    City '09?

Wow! Farm sets... I loved everything farm-machinery related when I was young, especially tractors, so that one at least is a must get. I rather like all the farm sets actually. That torso in the tractor set is especially neat and, well, we get official cows. Seriously, the tractor is really neat, it looks fantastic. The horsebox looks quite good as well, and the 4x4 in there is cool as well. The combine harvester isn't bad either, and the farm is pretty cool as well. I'm not sure about boys not going for the farm. I certainly would have done. I mean, tractors are effortlessly brilliant aren't they? The minifig pack is good. Besides another policeman (but he has an interesting head, so I'll let it slide) they're all cool figures, with some neat heads and torsos. The Construction sets are a mixed bag really. I rather like the little digger thing, and the dumper truck isn't bad, but the steamroller... Godd idea, less good in the execution. Not overly fussed on the larger construction sets either. They're not bad, but neither are they fantastically brilliant. It certainly looks to be a good year so far though.
  8. Got to love TLG sometimes... ambitious to a fault. Always. Ooh, teaser. On another note, I had to walk past the Volcano Base once more today, and wish I could get it. Maybe next week...
  9. I'm not so sure. If the list is true, there are only two Indy sets out in January, with six more to follow later. That suggests it's either a Jan 09 list, or it's far from complete. Especially with the game coming out, I think it very unlikely we won't see at least some Batman next year.
  10. I think there was a mention of some shadowy areas of the levels that only certain characters could access, weren't there? I'm guessing then that Man-Bat is one of said characters. That poor unsuspecting gardener... hasn't got a clue. And that picture where he's emulating the classic Batman pose with his wings wrapped round him... I shouldn't think so. He's been an accidental menace far more often than he's been a hero.
  11. Yeah... I've rather given up on getting more Castle sets as well. Save for one of each Battle Pack, and a couple of Impulse sets that is. Oh, and the Advent Calendar, got to have my Lego Advent Calendar. But Lego still comes before comics. I don't buy many DVDs anyway, so that's not really a problem. And what with my CEs, I can get my regular comic fix, well, regularly. Oh, any excuse... Seriously though, it's okay. As long as it gets done sometime. I need to time to get ahead again anyway. Just don't take too long or I'll have to delay publication and rename myself DC... But at least you've got you're stuff. I can't get Vol.3 yet, as it's only available on Region 1. I think we're Region 2 over here, and I've not got a universal DVD player. Is that the one from Dini's recent run? The one where he kidnaps Robin? Because if it is, Ive read it, and it is quite good. I'm not sure we've seen inside Tim's room yet, but I know I've got some shots of his old room (when he still lived with his dad) from War Games and such, so I can look at his possessions there. Yeah... that's exactly what I thought. No way we could make anything that big. Still, we do our best with what we've got. I think I might make a Wayne Manor as well, to go on top of my Batcave. Of course, you can make yours first, because I'm nice like that. And I need to finish the Batcave first. I have made a Joker card though... What? Ugh... Everyone says she's the 'sexiest woman in the world' but honestly, I just don't see it myself. Doesn't tend to go down well whenever I say that...
  12. Whoa! Babs! Um... is it wrong of me to think she's quite hot? So I was right. Just like Nightwing can use Robin's suits, Babs can use Bats'. I am however, and shall attempt to answer you're question... honestly, I've no idea. That said though... I'd chase her. I don't think that's a complete set list. At least, I hope it's not.
  13. Hey, I'm all heart. Oh naturally. I've not even got round to learning to drive yet. It's 17 here, I don't know what it is over there, but I'm nearly 18 and haven't got round to it. And I'm not getting a car either. Thank you. Sure, I understand you've got things to do, unlike me. Like I said, you can either send all three when you've finished, or send them one at a time. Yeah, I agree there. It's never been all that clear what the motives of the comic counterpart are. Is he obsessed with hats? Young girls? Lewis Carroll? All three? And the unreciprocated love thing, well we've all been there haven't we? That's not a bad idea. I'll have a look through today. Sadly, Wayne Manor itself doesn't get quite as much exposure as the Batcave, but I'm pretty sure I've got some good pics I can root out. I'll have a look through, and see what I can find on the web. I'll let you know what I come up with. EDIT: So I've been making a list of Wayne Manor features from my comics, and I've just taken a break to see what I can find on the web. And, well, just look what I've found on MOCpages! I need to build a Wayne Manor now...
  14. Has Riddler actually ever hypnotised anyone? Ever? It's possible that other characters, like Gordon, might be picked up during the level and lost elsewhere. Play as Batman and Robin for all the level, and a third character joins in for part of it, for a specific section.
  15. 70 years next May in fact. Well, save for an advert in Action Comics in April 1939, which was technically Batman's first print appearance. Save for during the 50s, when everyone seemed to have them. To be honest though, not making the buildings and locals gives us more chance to do them. It's easier to come up with an original Batmobile or Batwing/Batplane with influences from different media than it is to come up with an original building since they often look the same across the board. The Iceberg Lounge for instance, looks much the same between BTAS and the comics sometimes. It doesn't give them much scope to put their own twist on it. It'd be nice to see some film stuff, but to be honest, I prefer the comics anyday. And that's without exception. To that end, I'd much rater see TLG finish, or at least move towards finishing, the comics-inspired stuff first, then give us strict film stuff. Actually, I like what they're ding at the moment, mixing influences. If they gave us film sets, then we wouldn't get that streak of originality that comes from blending together lots of different Batman media.
  16. I'm pretty sure the previous advent calendars have only gone up to the 24th. I'd imagine this one to be the same.
  17. Actually it's both and neither. The Bat-symbol is based on the BB one like Batbrick said, while the armour is TDK style. But because ot's dark grey not black, it's neither.
  18. There are two seats in the Turbo car after all, and only one Chase. And we have had quite a few... Oh yeah, it looks great. Looking at pictures of it, and looking at the box, you think, yeah, it's nothing special, I'll probably break it up. But then when you build it... The bridge tipping thin works quite well, and it actually quite neat. There's a decent amount of swampage around the base, and the little hut at the top is quite neat. The only complaint I have, and it's a little one, is that the ladder from the hut down the the little jetty (where the mini-boat is) falls quite a way short of the bottom, so Break Jaw sort of has to climb to the bottom of the ladder, then drop. And if he wants to get back up...
  19. No, I want to. I just need to find it first. Or Penguin for that matter. Hardly the peak of physical fitness, is he?
  20. As the Joker points out in the film. He makes note of Riddler always leading the Dynamic Duo to the crime by leaving his stupid riddles everywhere. Because of course Lego comes first, before anythng else. Then comics and comic-related merchandise, then girls. She became Robin in War Drums, then 'died' in War Games (I believe I recommended it a few pages back). She's been coming back across the titles recently, in Robin and Gotham Underground among others. It was perhaps a little cruel of Bats to not tell Tim his girlfriend might be ALIVE! Cheers mate. If you think that's a good way to do it, then please do. Perhaps you could do it in a different colour, so I can see what's changed (not red or blue though). If you want to do all three together, then do. If you'd rather do one at a time, and send them one at a time, that's also fine. Speaking of, I've just watched Mad as a Hatter. Another good episode, and I see that Dini reused some of the ideas here in a recent issue of Detectivve Comics. In it, Mad Hatter sets up a Wonderland Gang with Tweedledum and Tweedledee to commit crimes, recruiting heavy muscle and the like and dressing them up as Wonderland characters. It transpires that Dee and Dum actually used Mad Hatter's own mind control circuitry on him, to get him to 'lead' them, but the basic idea's still there. Anyway, it's a slightly different interpretation of the character, which is kind of nice. I think I prefer the comics look of the character, but this one isn't bad. Still, a nice episode, and it means I've almost finished Vol.1. Sure. I've not had any chance to work on anything yet, but I've got one idea lined up (not a vig for once), and I'm sure I can come up with some more. I'd be happy to. I assume you want to include as much stuff from as many different media as possible? In that case, like I've done with my Batcave, I'll trawl back through all my comics and find anything from Wayne Manor that I can. I'll also have a browse of the Internet, see if I can find anything else. Put more than one Batcave entrance in as well, from different media. I think tan will be fine. It's usually either shown as tan or grey-white, and personally I think tan looks better. To the comic shelf!
  21. Well we know Batman's going to dance at some point, so with any luck they'll have made it the Batusi. No, not yet. Just TLH. I see what you're saying, but to an outside market, to someone who is only a casual fan of the Bat-mythos, to someone who isn't either me or you, it's best to have Joker, Riddler and Penguin. Before TDK at least, my dad for instance, could identify those three, but not Two-Face. On the other games, the last level of the 6 is the boss level. Across the other 5 there are 'semi-bosses' which take up parts of the level, but not all of it like the 6th chapter. So we can assume that the boss on the last level of each chapter is the villain who's leading that team. On the Heroes game at least.
  22. Quite alright. I've been on a roll these past few days. I assume it'll be the same as in the other games, meaning the boss levels will be as easy or hard as the other levels. To be honest though, I think I like it that way.
  23. Hmm... maybe I've made that up then.
  24. I have to say, I wasn;t going to get this, and get the Castle one instead. But now I think I may have to get both. There are some pretty nice things in there, not least the fact that there are 10 figs. And i think this may be the first time ever that a City policeman doesn't have the grumpy face. Why it's in your sig of course.
  25. Sort of, for a bit. He thought he and Batman might share Thomas Wayne as a father, so stayed with him for a while helping him fight crime and take down some drug cartels. He later found out he was not related to Batman and left Gotham on good terms with Batman, and with his financial backing. He went to the mountains once more looking for his father. He eventually found him... King Snake. He then helps the Bat-family agaqinst King Snake, saving Batman from a bullet. Bane, wounded, is immersed in a Lazarus Pit by Batman and healed. He leaves, clean and renewed. He then turns up in Infinite Crisis #7, and breaks Judomaster's back in the Battle of Metropolis, saying "I finally know who I am. I am Bane. I break people." He then faces off against Hourman. He claims to be addicted to a new strain of Venom (he kicked the habit years before) and seeks Hourman's expertise in chemistry. This turns out to be a lie, and he had instead killed the drug cartels and destroyed everything he could on Venom. He finds out that Venom was derived from Hourman's Miraclo compound, and plans to kill the first Hourman and force the second to take the remaining Venom and forever be addicted. They escape and he is buried accidentally in the Santa Priscn prison he grew up in. He runs for democratic election in Santa Prisca, but declares martial law when he discovers the elections are rigged. This causes a civil war. Later on, Amanda Waller recruits him into the new Suicide Squad. He later ends up on the prison planet in Salvation Run, allied with Lex Luthor. For the first time recently, this wasn't all from memory. That and he's been seen on screenshots with the Penguin.
