  1. tree by kumpel kante, auf Flickr Forget aluminium christmas trees, In Westeros they use to have iron christmas trees, forged from the swords of those, who do not celebrate christmas... (which would include the entire population of Westeros and Essos)
  2. You are right. The white building is intended to be the palas and thus a central part of the castle. Of course a palas should stand out, shouldn't it? Anyway thanks for the compliments everybody.
  3. Hey Guys, what is a castle contest without a castle? Don't say a thing. Here is a colossal castle for a colossal contest. 4. Uhm the black knights (with the dragon insignia) did not use it until 1992 And the backdrop was edited using gimp (an open source image editor)
  5. hey guys, did you know that 8877 Vladeks Dark Fortress from the Knights Kingdom line was based on a rejected alternative build from the 1988 released Black Monarchs castle? No? ...thats because i made it up. This moc is my entry for the out with the new category. I tried to reimagine the 2005 released 8877 as something that would have been used as one of those alternative builds back in the day (or page from an idea book). 6. 5th century A.D.: These are the final days of the roman empire. The Limes may have been completey enlarged, but there were not enough troops to patrol atop the walls and man the towers. Thus the barbaric tribes are becoming bolder at start to attack the towers after nightfall. 7. @Floyd: uuuuhm this was builtfor the husbandry category of this years Colossal Castle Contest
  8. Hello, This is my new Moc, a medivial vinyard. I think it does not need that much explanation. 9. Something that hast to do with Lego.... tooo easy... A nice suit of armor to decorate my Living... i mean Lego Room. armor von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr
  10. The doctor uses the stick to examine victims... i mean patiens whithout having to touch them with the hands
  11. My entry for the Castle Building Category. ...because every castle needs stables for the horses. And for the horses a blacksmith might come in handy too (for nailing on horseshoes. And then there is enough space to do all the other work that needs to be done. 12. hey guys, these are my first attempts at customising (at least since my dark age) The fist one is a venetian plague doctor: Plague doctor von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr Plague doctor von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr From Wikipedia: In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, some doctors wore a beak-like mask which was filled with aromatic items. The masks were designed to protect them from putrid air, which (according to the miasmatic theory of disease) was seen as the cause of infection. Thus: The nose half a foot long, shaped like a beak, filled with perfume with only two holes, one on each side near the nostrils, but that can suffice to breathe and to carry along with the air one breathes the impression of the drugs enclosed further along in the beak. Under the coat we wear boots made in Moroccan leather (goat leather) from the front of the breeches in smooth skin that are attached to said boots and a short-sleeved blouse in smooth skin, the bottom of which is tucked into the breeches. The hat and gloves are also made of the same skin… with spectacles over the eyes. The other one is a knight in gothic armor. The sallet is one of my favorite medivial helmets. too bad TLC wont make a mold for that one. (playmobil has at least since the early 90s) ritter1 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr One last thing: These are my first attempts at customising since my dark age. I am not satisfied with the knight, so feel free to post some constructive critisism. The doctor on the other hand will be entered into the colossal castle contest. Should i enter the knight too?
  13. You mean hydra from the captain america flick? (Dunno if they exist in the comics as well) Well it was more inspired by cthulhu(btw the whole moc was inspired by lovecrafts and robert e. Howards fiction) Thanks for the compliment anyway.
  14. A group of knights was sent to undiscovered lands on a quest for glory and treasures. Instead they only found the remains of ancient civilisations. These ruins are now overrun by followers of unspeakable cults of evil and their twisted and undead servants. 15. Lidl (german supermarket chain) is selling the star wars microfighters with a discount. You can one for 8,88 or buy and pay 7,77 for each. Not beeing a star wars collector i picked up the millenium falcon and the star destroyer for parts.
  16. Exatly my thought. By the way Lego(system scale in particular) and Playmobil had the exact same themed during the 80s and 90s
  17. I once bought a minifig from Megablocks. I think the overall quality (the plastic and the design) was ok, and way better than purist Afols say. But it looked more than a small action figure than a minifig from tlg, so not much to compare here. I also never bought a complete set from MB, but i think from what they look like they are more like play sets than building sets. So not much to compare here either. But then there are the other clones. Once in a while i buy one of these from a flea market or bargain bin. See for yourself: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=50434&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=78472&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 And the most funny of them all: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=83106&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 Now something completely different: What do you think of Playmobil? It may not be building brick but i think the are more comparable to Lego when it comes to quality and design. (At least it were in the nineties when lego had non-licensed themes too)
  18. The first fig with headgear that cover the entire (and everything else in that case) was the ghost that was in the castle theme 1990 or 1991 http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Jojo/Rittersets/Minifigs/geist.jpg
  19. Too bad lego cannot do more than two factions per theme... this way we get the same 5 sets every 2-3 years ( at least in the first wave)
  20. Hmmm castle theme? Did someome mention forestmen or elves yet
  21. I think wants to get rid of them/they didnt sell well
  22. you are right and the second/addiotional waves we're where we got the interesting stuff. anyway: i wanted to add "since 2011" since the second kingdoms wave was 2011 i think TLC should keep themes longer around and expand them. (but please not like chima, or ninjago, though ninjago had a couple of good sets... and ninjas)
  23. That sounds pretty much like Lord of the Rings/ Hobbit. Why should TLC do series, when they ara already doing a licensed version of it. Granted id' like to have more variety in regards of MFs heraldy and sets, too. But something else than the 5 standard sets/slot (army builder, cart, outpost, evil tower big castle) wont be released before 2016. Thats just a second Wave thing. D**n f***ing marketing. btw. has there been a second wave for theme that was not licensend, city or chima/ninjago?
  24. finally a nice wave of cmf for castle builders. we get a historic warrior (the "mongol"): nice shield, hat and torso the swash buckler: the hat looks brown: usable in serios settings. the rest works better in funny settings an update on majisto (the wizard): well, why not the amazon: yes, nice shield the jester: hmm one can never have enough jesters, the maiden: yes, there are to few female figs usable in a medivial setting
