In an age long forgotten a brave hero (insert silly fantasy-name here) fought a mighty Wyvern (called Lindwurm in German) and finally killed the beast near a waterfall. To pay tribute to that hero a castle was built on the rock that stood in the midst of the waterfall. This was inspired by many sources, to name two of them its fallingwater ( http://en.wikipedia....ki/Fallingwater) for the idea with the waterfall, and the videogame skyrim for including those large chunks of wooden architecture and turning it into a dragon knight's castle (i had the idea with the waterfall already). This is as the name of the topic suggests already my entry to the castle category and my final entry for the Colossal Castle Contest this year castle2012hr1 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr Castle2012hr2 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr castle2012hr3 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr more pics will follow, but feel free to comment already Edit: and here are the additional pics castledetail1 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr castledetail2 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr castlefdetail3 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr castledetail4 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr castledetail5 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr and to somewhat show the size of the MOC [with apologies for my hairstyle ) castledetail6 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr

CCCX Winter Scene: River Thames Frost Fair
Kumpelkante replied to Kumpelkante's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
you are right. the brigde is pretty high compared to moc-standarts. otherwise it was planned that way for boats to fit under the arches (if the river was not frozen). also bridges in my city are of a similar hight compared to humans... or think of tower bridge and rialto bridge... -
CCCX Winter Scene: River Thames Frost Fair
Kumpelkante replied to Kumpelkante's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Actually the Moc takes place on the frozen river Thames (or a section of it). So these gates arent gates at all, but the (visible) section of a bridge that is used for the background. Maybe i should put more work into that the next time i build something similar. But thanks for the comments and apprecietion anyway. (to the other posters as well) -

This is my Entry for the Winter scene category. According to Wikipedia: "River Thames frost fairs were held on the Tideway of the River Thames at London between the 15th and 19th centuries, during the period known as the Little Ice Age, when the river froze over. This is my entry for the daring is escape entry. Maybe you can guess, which movie i got inspired by. escape1 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr A knight has captured a bandit and hands him over to the local authorities in exchange for a reward. escape2 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr The bandit can escape, right before he is punished, because the knight shot the execution rope with his crossbow. escape3 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr Finally the knight and the bandit meet at the knight's castle and share the reward, while they are planning to play the trick on the next town.

... and here is a remake of a set, that is eligible for the CCCX. Last time i chose a set, that was beloved by many Afols. This time i tried to make something decent out of a bit more flawed set. Thus i chose the more obscure 6097 Night Lord's Castle night1 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr night2 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr NIGHT4 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr night3 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr Many think that the original headgear of the batlord is a bit silly. I share their thought, so i chose Vladeks helmet, which slightly resembles a bat or a bat-cowl yet looks more like a real helmet and not a part of a silly costume. night6 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr night5 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr I think a giant bat fits much into the fright knight theme than a black dragon. What do you think? And here is a image of the original set, released 1997 (..for those who do not remember this rather obscure set) ...and a review of eurobricks-member metalandi http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=19703

Really? Where are the other two? Nevermind, my next remake will be from a bit more obscure faction.

Hey Guys, this is a remake of the all three classic wolfpack sets ( http://www.ritterset...wolfsbande.html ), i finished shortly before the categories for this year's CCC were announced. So unfortunately it does not meet the max-size for "normal" categories and i have to enter it into Miscallenious (i hate this word). I hope you like this moc anyway and the other set-remake i am currently building too. Ladys and Gentlemen, originally I intended to do series of MOCs about workplace safety (no just kidding, i just needed a good introduction to this topic). Actually I chose gardening as the topic of my entry, because my parent used to joke that i used hedge trimmer like a katana. Nuff said, take a look and enjoy NINJAGARDEN1 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr Nijagarden2 von tobiasgeserick auf Flickr

Pictorial Review: 40049 Mini Sopwith Camel plane

I already asked in this Do you buy 1 set to play with and 1 to keep sealed?thread, and i am usually not a friend of crossposting, but i hope that i get a quicker answer here. should i open my copy or keep it sealed like the rest of my collection of promo-sets? -
Do you buy 1 set to play with and 1 to keep sealed?
Kumpelkante replied to thegurumb's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I usually buy lego to build and play with it, not to look at the box or sell it, cause i would be collecting action figures then. Otherwise i started collecting promosets that come in those polybags, cause they are cheap (some times for free), small and somewhat exclusive or at least something special, as they are not sold in every retailstore. Now to my "problem": I'm going to get a 40049 sopwith mini camel with my next S@H order. I tend to keep it sealed as it is a exclusive promioset, on the other hand i think it looks really good and i want to build it. So my question is, considering i only have one copy: Should i keep it sealed like the other polybag-sets, or should i open it and build it? -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Kumpelkante replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hey Guy, i took a look at the pics. And i agree, there are not as many hits as in series 6 or 7. But there are still some hits. I think i get more than one conquistador, because the breastplate seems to be very useful for golden knights, that do not wear crown or lion insignia. Also the shakespearian actor and the bavarian guy seem to be useful for castlebuilders, the latter because of its dark green hat. Also for fantasy builders, we have a nice variety of the bat-thingy (hmmm batfig, what do you call it?) and the alien has a purple cape that could be useful for evil wizards. Santa is just nice to habe, but there might be uses for his sack. I am a bit disappointed but not much surprised by the fairy. It kind of looks much too disneylike to me, i even do not like the wings (they do not look good, but thats just my taste). Also just not my cup of tea: the cowgirl, just to cheesy. The rest is just generic, maybe town-collecters like them. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Kumpelkante replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It is on the last page of the current catalog (at least in germany) -
To me it depends on the individual creature if the newer or older one is better. For example the newer dinosaurs have much more sophisticated printing but a more simplicistic shape than the older one, which i alreade like better. Also they they are more in scale with the minifigs and do fit in better. The newer shark on the other hand is to "round" if you ask me, and also to big compared to a minifig. So while i prefer new dinosaurs to old ones (though i only have the raptor from both dino 2010 and the current line) i think the old sharks work a little better than the new version. I think the biggest reboot especially for castle-builders will be the new horse, which was a part that was besides colors and printings untouched for 28 years now. Personally i think that the new posability will come in useful for some MOCs depicting certain actions. On the other hand i am a sucker für horse-bardings and horse-helmets. So the questions if i like the new horses will depend on if the new one is compatible with the current horse-bardings and helmets and/or if it works together with the old one. (after all the horse does not seem to be a big departure from the old one in terms of style-just in articulation. need to get rest, i think... i start to spot typos

Regarding the "theme" of the vig: How accurate do we have to be in naming the theme of the vig? I have build something that does not fit any existing Lego theme (or one that was produced at any time, still fits largely into the "historical"-category. Or can/do i have to name it something like "ancient greece/fantasy/sword & sandals"?

regarding additional pics: that may take while, as i have to and want to sort my collection first. ...but thanks for commenting already.
