  1. Seaside WIP by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr For a while now I've been building sections that have now combined to form a seaside town - it's not finished - there's quite a bit to do - but today was the first day I've had all 7 baseplates together. Here's a close up of one of the buildings: Diner Building by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr It's all open back so my kids will be able to play with it and I plan to add a Fish'n'chip shop, art gallery, arcade, Karate Dojo,2nd house and a coast guard station. More than anything it will be a home for my rapidly expanding collection of minifigures!
  2. What a fantastic MOC - The train design is very accurate, and the station looks very playable. Well done on such a fantastic model!
  3. My daughter actually has the Hello Kitty building sets - They arent bad!
  4. These are fantastic - I thought the orange/black car was very nice, but then I saw the SUV - Superb. I've made a lot of 8-wide cars and dont really like the fact that I have a 6 wide windscreen and use the same bonnet and roof wedge, but that leaves a whole stud width on either side, but 7 wide looks fantastic. The dark blue and dark green are incredible colours to have used - Dark red maybe as another colour? Well done - show more...
  5. Thanks! I've seen a few on Flick with stickers - I may just have to do that - Keep on brickin... My son's favourite colour is yellow, and it just seemed too perfect a colour scheme not to use it for these minifigs. It's actually going to be part of a much larger project I'm working on, which will have a beach, seafront and some city sections. Gotta have somewhere for all the collectible minifigures to live!
  6. Looks like I posted a day early - I found 4 boxes of series 4 in my local Tesco and so now have the new Surfer girl! VW Bus 6 by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr
  7. I've wanted to make one of these for a while, and finally got round to it last night. I'd always wanted to have a sliding door mechanism (although I dont know if that's an accurate feature from the real VW Bus) and disguising the mechanism became very simple once I thought of the flower decoration. All I need now is the series 4 Lady surfer - there's a missing surfboard on the roofrack! VW Bus 4 by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr VW Bus 5 by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr
  8. Really nice - The two storey building isnt seen that often, but this looks perfect. Well done.
  9. Fantastic - I want one - The last shot with the cars on deck is the seller. TLC should be selling this one.
  10. Yeah I'd buy one of these for the simple reason that whilst it fits perfectly within the Ninjago theme, it also works excellently outside of that theme. Add some base plates and a few dozen samurai minifigures and It's a highly realistic diorama. Fantastic - well done - Jealous of all those brown tiles.
  11. Thanks everyone for another fun contest!
  12. Sweet - I like the silver wheels on the yellow. Lovely curves on the cur.
  13. Just insanely gorgeous - well done for capturing the essence of the sets in a smaller scale - I saw the green grocer on Flick and did the same as everyone else, but now I've seen the fire station I'm insanely jealous. Just fantastic.

  16. Hey Lightningtiger I have to say you put such care and attention into the models - Love the Photocopier and the safe, but the best part is the Art-deco Tan on White detailing on the front of the building and the orange roof of the Phone Box - Love that. Well done.
  17. Fantastic - So playable too, and adaptable to many themes - Nice to see the buildings mixed in with a full environment. Are you planning on taking this along to shows - You should!
  18. Great review - I must get over to the staff shop - this reminds me very much of the very first Airport set I had back in the 80's.
  19. I will take a look in our staff shop the next time i'm in that neck of the woods (I work for BA) and see how much - A couple of weeks ago they still had lots of last years set in stock for £12, so this one will probably be around the same price. I have to say this years is much better than last years. I'll definitely be picking some up.
  20. It looks fantastic - How well does it hold together?
  21. This is the start of a City street, built to scale with my 8-wide vehicles. Street WIP 1 by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr I love the modular buildings, but dont have the space to display one, or bricks to build one that would not be all old grey So I thought a little street scene like this with open backed buildings would be a good way to get some Cafe Corner-style fronts at least! The first building is going to get a bit more decoration, and I'll be adding another building next to it - any suggestions as to what they should be? - This first building looks like it may be a Library to me...
  22. I love it and I want one for my desk at work!
  23. Are you planning on putting a whole town together in this style for your son? I did and it lasted for a while before it was destroyed! (By his AT-AT apparantly!) I really like the style, especialy the use of the roller window in front - the open back stores are very good for kids to play with. One hint - give them removable roof's - Several of my creations got destroyed when my son could not get into the far conrner and ended up forcing the roof of - removable roofs attached by only 1 or 2 studs fixed that. Great piece of clean simple design though - could be official.
  24. Series 1 - Ninja Series 2 - Karate master Series 3 - Samurai Ninja 2 by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr Ninja 3 by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr Kuriegu is visiting the burial site of one of his ancient ancestors, who he knows to be a Samurai. He has an important tournament tomorow and is seeking guidance. However the Ninja assasin, hired by his rival, has followed him and plans to kill him. However Kuriegu is alerted to the Ninja's presence and is soon joined by someone who is able to protect him from the assasin's Katana.... I think it is an easy choice to put these characters together, but this was a scene i'd wanted to do for a long time - I only wish I had some 4x1 brown tiles so the bridge slats could be made of wood, but alas I have none... See it with the samurai in my Flickr stream (Click on The Solitary Dark under the images)
  25. Kick the Tyres by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr Built for the Pilot - He's checking his tyres one last time for luck before a Bombing run. You can see the Pilot checking it here: My link
