Heroica RPG - Quest #17: The Lion's Share
Capt.JohnPaul replied to Brickdoctor's topic in The Heroica Archive
They did have cement, since Roman times in fact. Wait.... why did we need saltpeter and charcoal and sulfur? Anyways, that should be easy. For the sulfur, we just need eggs. -

Ok, just an idea, as the bombs may damage or even completely destroy some of their siege equipment. -

Should we prepare the boiling oil and place them at certain points where the elves would climb up? We could cause some nice Fire Damage. Or we could rig some more fire bombs. -

The knight walks up to Althior. "Sir Althior," he starts, "next round, should I position myself on the Wooden Look-out post on the South-West tower? Last battle it would take too long to get myself up on the wall if it need reinforcements." -

"Victory! I bet those fellows won't be back for awhile after that show of strength! " says Alexandre as he emerges from the tower."We should use the rest of this time to complete any finished plans." -

"I can't see a thing!" cried Alexandre. He moves to the top of the West Wall. (That's one turn, correct?) -
Best. Vignette. Ever. King Arthur looks spot on and I never would have thought of using the red "blood" like that. Though maybe consider adding a bridge or some trees.

Woot! Woot! I knew that +3 bonus would work. The gallant knight aims for Brobic Scout B from the back row. -

"Oh. Yes sir!" Alex takes aim from the back row at the Brobric Elven Scout B. He holds his breath for a +3 bonus on the dice roll. -

"Don't worry, sir! I've got that covered and will make sure that won't happen!" Alex takes aim from the back row at the Elven Archer. He holds his breath for a +3 bonus on the dice roll. -

I don't think I'd be able to hear. The chevalier suddenly realizes that it would be foolish to waste 3 turns. He changes his mind and shoots the Brobric Elven Scout A from the back row. -

Oh, yes. Though I thought K-nut put me on top- canceling that. I'll take my 3 turns to move to the elf with my crossbow. -

"The wall is scaled!" Alex draws his sword and cuts the Elf Lead Scout from the front row. (If that's possible in 1 turn, or if it requires 2 turns.) -

Alex reloads, and aims for the Elf Archer again from the back row. He looks concerned at the closing in flames, but casts aside his doubt aside, the fort's stone. -
Oh. My. Gosh. I just figured it out. Why are we working for him. I'm suspicious of him. He's got a GOATEE!! He's really the evil one!

Alex was dozing off to sleep when he hears cries of, "The elves are coming! The elves are coming!" With a jump, he straightens his helmet and takes aim, he shoots the Brobric Elven Archer from the back row (?) -

Just checked and said we had 5 crossbowmen. I only see four there. I see 4 on the second floor, but did someone forget one? Just checking. -

Alexandre loads his crossbow and shuffles on the wall with his equipment. "Remember bowmen, pikemen, and scouts! Fight to the last man, you aren't noble, you won't be ransomed! Shame is to the one who survives his chief in battle. Flight will not let you avoid death..." -

The pikemen on the second floor are really on the 3rd floor (wall, I was running out of room.) And I forgot about the pikeman's strength increasing if put together, but if all grouped together, lots of wall will be undefended. -

"I've made a plan on our map where to place our troops." Note: I tried to evenly space the men on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors, most will be on the same floor, but they would clog up the map. "If there is a window on the 2nd story officer's quarters, but a crossbowman there. 2 more on the tower with the catapult. Let's have another on the wooden look-out tower. And the last one on the West wall, since the towers will run out of room. For the knights- one I should think goes on the North wall, East wall, and Southwest one, just in case the elves try to flank. Then one last defends the West wall. Any gaps will be filled by pikemen. One will defend the portcullis winch rooms, because that hast to be defended at all times. Then another will be stationed on the Northeast wall/tower. Three more will be on the West wall, as that is closest where we suspect the elves will attack from. The last two will be placed close by, in the middle of the West wall and gate, the Southwest wall. And then I'll be placed inside the West wall with my crossbow." Alex draws on a spare map he copied to show what he means if the rest is not understood in plain text. "What do you think? I'm unsure where to put the scouts, perhaps just in the grass/field/ground in the middle of the fort to send as reinforcements or something." -

I was originally thinking of going in the West wall, but does anyone else think I should go somewhere else? -

Alex overhears the soldier's report. "We have the Storage Lean-to and West wall covered with stakes, I believe, so I shall position myself in the West wall, since they are in the forest." Alex puts on his morion, and buckles the plate armor straps and grieves. He loads his crossbow, ready to move into the wall if the elves come within cross-bow range. EDIT Brickdoctor- didn't see your post, I was posting at the same time. I believe the pit thing was indeed completed. -
