I really don't like the chase set. The bank is cool though. I'll definitely buy that. Love the credit card printed tile the female is holding. I think the ATM needs modding but that's a minor flaw in a great little set.
-
I like the nifty sword and golden dragon windows in the temple set but that's about it. Oh and the black outfit Sensei. Very sexy.
-
A big Lego logo rug would be fantastic. Thick tufty shagpile. Mmmmmmm...... Amazing creation though.

I hope people spend all their money on this and become addicted to it. then I shall sweep bricklink for the juiciest pieces while they're distracted.

I like all three. though 2008's and 2011's when combined will make a fantastoic mega-station. Once the blue tiles are switched to dark bley the new one looks a lot better. switching the fences at the front from red to white or black helps too. the main problem these sets have is the placing of the prison cells on the exterior. incorporating them into the main body of the building with access via the rear of the set would give it a more real feeling quality, then there'd be room above the garages for a decent helipad.

Just noticed how weird it looks that the bike rider in the bank set is riding through green briefcases in a physics defying way. I like the bank though. nice small high street sized. cool colours and interesting facade although the ATM looks odd. Is that a red trial bike the criminal is on? Cool beans if it is. I like the police car too. the secure van could do with a little more work. an ok set though. Look forward to seeing clearer pics. police chase features another red car *yawn*. Would it really be too much to ask for a green car? It's a nice design but enough with the red already. Police car is quite cool. Don't like the stickers. They look messy. they're not bad sets but they could be better.

if there's no minifigs from LU I really hope Lego release a minifig in the city theme with the woolly hat in orange as seen in this pic. Too cool.

I'm sure all these police stations with the prison cells outdoors and open to the elements breaches the Geneva convention or something like that. Criminals are very naughty boys but I'm not sure they deserve to freeze to death in custody. Perhaps next time Lego could relocate the cells indoors and make the outdoor space big enough for the helicoptor to land. Or at least include a ladder so the pilot can get off the roof.

I hope with the sailor appearing we get a wave five and it includes a Naval captain. I was just toying around with a picture of the captain from classic town, spiffing him up. Looks quite tasty next to the sailor. It wouldn't require much more than some printing on torso, arms and cap to create for real. Not sure what accessories he could have. New cap, nautical chart, sextant, course plotting dividers, binoculars, compass? Obviously this is a very quick impression. but it gives you the idea. :) -

Hazmat suit guy - Lego have answered my prayers. I only want a couple but this is perfection. Skateboarder - love the torso and face print, black hat and board. Fantastic in it's subtlety. Sailor - This is the army builder to me. Want lots. Artist - Beautiful minifig and accessories. Punk rocker - Incredible. here's hoping for more band members. Wolfman - Based on classic horror rather than modern I think. So not a werewolf, but a wolfman. Frankenstein's monster - The addition of hair is a lovely touch. Great update on the studios version. Mad scientist - Looks unfinished. lovely flask accessory and nice use of that hair piece though. Musketeer - Like the hat and sword, don't like the figure. Hockey player - Nice minifig but not my cup of tea. the skate piece is cute. Ice skater - IMO it's a horrible minifig. I hate the colours and the hair piece. looks like a fat Wilma Flintstone. Footballer - Not very exciting. If there's a second footballer in a future wave it might be worth building a team. Viking - hmmm, I guess it adds variation to the theme but it doesn't excite me. Surfer girl - Not bad, could have lived without the pink. Gnome - why? It's pointless, out of scale and aside from the hat fairly bland. Japanese woman - Quite nice I suppose. The fan is cool. Not tempted to get this though. -
Thanks for the review and clear pics of the dog. I think I'll mod this with plate hinges so there's only windows on a rear opening. re-arrange stickers with the dog insignia on both sides rather than cab roof. It's a nice design with the wider rear box but the rear wheels seem quite exposed. I'd need to alter that. I don't like the front blue lights sticking out so far. I'd alter that too but overall the shape is good and it's nice to see some difference in vehicle width. Hope Lego do more of this in future sets.

A hospital is bound to happen sooner or later given that emergency service are the baseline of city sets. city hall would make a good modular set but I can't see it being spectacular in the regular city sets line-up. Now the news team sets sound like a good idea. I'm going to be adding a news team to my city layout at some point and would welcome a tv station and news van. be nice if there was a new camera accessory too. However, I won't get my hopes up for any of these. the ideas are nice though.

There's various parts of this theme I like but not enough for me to buy whole sets. The gold parts, decorated wall/window panels and those lovely bones. I'll have those please. That Ninja master with his swishy beard and spiffy hat is a must have figure. As is Nya.

Mac McLoud reminds me a drunken hobo. shove the head from the hunchback in studios set 1381 on him and a bottle in his hand, stick him an alleyway and bobs your lobster.

I used to buy all kinds of sets when I was younger. whatever looked cool. Now I'm very selective and cherry pick stuff for specific builds and parts. Town/City is my theme of choice but I'll buy anything that looks like it can be butchered for parts or changed into a town/city set. I buy minifigs from across all themes and buy an awful lot of individual parts when I have a build idea in mind. I tend not to buy buildings bizarrely. I can build those from scratch anytime but vehicles aren't my strong point so I buy a lot of those sets. I also tend to avoid primary colours. I've always hated the basic Lego colour palette. My city is all dk bley/dk orange/tan/white with brighter colours only used for details.

something that occured to me thinking about the safety suit dude is that we could get a beekeeper in a future wave. a shot in the dark I know, but some of these minifigs have been very leftfield and it occurs to me that a beekeeper would be cool. while his suit wouldn't need much in the way of decoration his accessories could include a honeycomb and smoke pump. Or even bees. Given the oversizing of Lego insects such as the spider and ant I can't see why we couldn't get a bee too. It would fit with the Farm sets and the bees would fit in the medieval village with a hive. And I'm sure a brick built hive wopuld be relatively easy with snot techniques. A bee proof suit could be utilised in any science based MOC. I imagine the beekeeper hat could be cast in clear plastic and then printed white with a mesh pattern on the mask part. even a very light dusting of paint could work to give a mesh-like look. -
Actually I enjoyed UP but Toy Story 3 was cloyingly sacharin. To be honest I spend an awful lot of time watching movies. Have done all my life. It would be impossible to watch every movie made but browsing through my Mothers book of 1,000 movies to see before you die I noted that I'd seen 90% of them. My partner and I actively seek out the worst movies ever made to see if we can stand to sit through them until the end. Including made for TV movies. On the subject of Inception, that movie would be nothing without the special effects. To my mind that doesn't make it a good movie it makes it a lazy movie that serves more as a showcase for digital effects artists than as a piece of entertainment. CGI should only ever augment a movie not dominate it. unless the movie is entirely CGI. However getting back to movies I'll never unsee I offer a hyper low budget horror spoof gem called 'Trees'. However a super low budget offering released this year called 'Lost Future' is really quite good despite riffing on Star Wars both in costume design and music. The overall movie is well put together and despite having a tiny cast it's hugely entertaining.

Ha! You have to admit that a lot of movies in recent years are reguritated pap or have the substance of a wet paper bag. I sat through the twilight movies the other night (under duress) and my brain almost dissolved. Truly abysmal. I really wish there were a movement to oust turgid effects driven movies and replace them with thought provoking character and dialogue driven movies. Perhaps not the dour Oliver Stone type of movie, but unless you actively hunt out independent movies the constant deluge of Hollywood rubbish really does melt the mind. James Cameron's Ferngully remake Avatar is a prime example of the rubbish being churned out. And the fact that audiences have been dumbed down so far they'll accept such rubbish as the norm is just depressing.
-
Anything that comes from Hollywood is complete and utter pants. same old same old constantly regurgitated. There hasn't been a decent movie since the 1970's. everything since has just been generic formulaic nonsense.

I've always thought trans black should be smokey grey not smokey brown. if Lego changed to smokey grey ould it really cause problems? To me it would present a much cleaner more realistic colour for windscreens. smokey brown always looks like a sun damaged old and faded colour to me.
