Hi Mr LED :-) Thanks for the tips, I might consider getting them in future but for the time being its unlikely! However you know, i think lights in city buildings can give an amazing effect so i might stage some in my city (i.e. lust quickly place christmas lights around the city without spending much time hiding the wires). Then i can take some photos in the distance and the wires will be unnoticeable :-) :-) :-)

What I don't appreciate about TLC is that buying directly from them via lego.com is often more expensive than buying in my local (rip-off) shops. And that's before adding 10-15 euro+ post and packaging cost *wacko* which makes it always more expensive. Usually companies sell cheaper direct, it makes sense as then people will start buying direct in bigger numbers. I think TLC need to hire people with brains to (a) look at designing proper sets and (b) make a proper business model. I think credit should be given for the idea of the lego factory but again the prices being charged are the problem here.

Do you know Arnotts in Dublin? They used to have lego exhibitions each christmas. The castle was on show there once although I think it was just a normal time of the year. *y* -

Has TLC finally gotten it right?
Minifig Lecturer replied to Zarkan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I absolutely hate the lego sets of the last decade. This is the reason why I stopped buying lego. I used to spend every penny I had on lego so TLC lost out on some regular income. I know one other friend and my bro who stopped buying it for the same reason. As Amanda said, TLC reduced quality and quantity of bricks in sets to save money. The Town lego sets seem to be downgrading at such a rate soon they will turn into Duplo. Nowadays most lego cars dont even have roofs. One more brick saved. I hate cars with no roofs. Look, I live in Ireland, its always raining, we NEED roofs!!!! -
IR trains are good for 12v people. :-) Does this train come in 9v version too as it is implied in alex's review? i want another train!

Guns are legal in the USA because they are BIG BUSINESS (i.e. $$$) That is it. Nothing to do with right to hold arms or safety etc... Perhaps I am wrong but this is my opinion.

Once on display in a shop when I was younger there was a huge yellow castle, maybe 2 metres high, 1 metre wide, up a yellow/grey lego mountain. Has anyone ever come across something like this as it was great and it probably toured various shops around europe? I guess it was probably in the late 1980s. The model was in same style as this yellow castle, just huge. I like yellow castles I must say. Yellow is a nice colour! :-) *y* -
Yes actually LEDs sound like a good idea but I dont like anything to do with batteries! You know, batteries suck for cost reasons. But maybe i can have LEDs off the mains power or some transformer device off the mains. LED wiring can be very thin and they are small bulbs right? Maybe they are cheap too?? So far I am just putting the lights in the stadium, i might try and put them in some buildings but I'm in no rush because it is difficult to hide wires :-X (and i'm a lazy lump)

Hiya, I used christmas lights, just plain white ones, nothing special. They can be good but so far its hard for me to fit them in the stadium and hide the big wires! :'-(

Hi highlandcattle, Actually I did not really notice this, but now looking at them I see what you mean :-D I have started some more (biggish) changes today but I think my altered buildings will now be a mixture of square-ish and rectangularish :'-( but at least i am aware of the [] issue, so thanks for this! hi natelite, one problem I have is that I do not have many special bricks (e.g. nice windows, arches, curved pieces etc) for making my buildings have more character but I know what you mean. I want to have a detailed town with detailed buildings and these greeblies so my plan is to try and do this over time, by building and redeveloping the buildings over and and over again, each time hopefully improving them. I am looking around here for ideas, although usually the amount of specialised bricks some ppl use would be impossible for me without taking out a bank loan! Again thanks for these suggestions guys, i will try to implement them *y* I will post an update picture tonight after I finish some work on it and eat my chinese takeaway :-)

Layout I have made a few changes to my city today and yesterday. :'-) Here are the changes in pics. You might notice more differences with last weeks photos on my brickshelf. This first pic shows the new extended old town walls and the start of the new lego river These 2 pics show the old city centre with building A and the new high density commercial and residential buildings being built. The only building completed so far is the yellow and red McDonalds (with windows) outlet. One other building will be a VOL bank branch, other 2 buildings not sold yet. This picture shows lego river so far. I might change the green plates which 2 giant grey plates and also have a loading yard for the train station... ? This pic shows the new suspension bridge replacing the old one which u can see on brickshelf if u are bored ;-) The new McDonalds branch is shown closer up. Its the 2nd branch to open in a week, the other being a windowless branch in Legoland Town Over the weekend I hope to put in christmas lights into the football stadium so matches can once again be played at night. Anyone any suggestions?? I like ideas :-)

Making Your Own LEGO Bricks
Minifig Lecturer replied to Minifig Lecturer's topic in General LEGO Discussion
No, when i was younger, I never had enough money to buy the sets so i always dreamt of melting down various plastics from bottles to tubs and making my own basic bricks :-$ I guess it wouldnt be easy but it was a dream. Maybe some dude somewhere tried it. Do you know other companies like MEGAblocks? I bought some "fake" lego sets once but now i forget what the company was called :'-(
