  1. David, The difference is that the seller in your example has decided the price he wants to offer for it, as opposed to someone making a lowball offer. I don't think that what the buyer did is unethical. Cheeky perhaps, but if the seller had shown more patience he'd have found out how much more he could have made from his auction. But thats life. And I can't with any honesty say that had the buy now gone up while I was watching, that I wouldn't have snapped them up either.
  2. Yeah...I realised I should have done that 30 secs after I saw it had gone....:(
  3. I know - the seller posted it at about 8-30pm last night with a $1 no reserve. I put it on my watchlist and went to do something else. By the time i came back - all over And yes, the seller was either desperate, or had no idea of the value of what they had.
  4. Waaaah!!!!! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=811112140
  5. A big shout out to all the guys and girls who have put on the LEGO show this weekend in Auckland. Fantastic as always and I could have easily spent twice as long there as I did spotting all the amazing things done with little plastic bricks. Looking forwards to next year already....:)
  6. Is anyone else who took their kids to see the LEGO movie sick of hearing "Everything is awesome" yet? or is it just my ones who sing it incessantly?
  7. Because we in NZ are so far behind everyone else when it comes to LEGO releases, many shops here still have the FB on the shelves. $NZ 299-00 ($US 259, 185 Euro) at most places. Toyco.co.nz and Toyplanet.co.nz have online shops, and may be willing to ship overseas.
  8. So, did anyone do well on the LEGO front this Xmas or in the boxing day sales? And what has happened to the Kiwibricks website?
  9. The last time the Warehouse had a big online lego sale, they advertised the Joust set, but you couldn't actually buy it from the website at the price they had it at. Given that the Warehouse has history with the Commerce commission for advertisting products at special discount prices, that are then unable to be purchased, I now take all the online "bargains" from the warehouse with a very large grain of salt.
  10. <raises hand> - Toyworld Albany was also doing good business in that regard....
  11. I beleive I saw it at Toyworld Albany, but not 100% sure
  12. Thanks for that - the Yellow car instructions belong to set 4939 -1 creator set. There was most of the car in the 2.1kgs, but in the end I couldn't be bothered seperating it out (lots of little pieces). I might do just that before I re-list, see if it can be sold as an additional set. I noticed at least one other bulk lot failed to sell, maybe it was just the trademe gods in action, or else I listed the auction to close the day before everyone's payday...lol Cheers Nick
  13. Hi guys, I've just run an auction for some LEGO on trademe, and it closed with no bids. Before I go ahead with some other options, would some of you like to take a look at it and see if there is anything glaring that made it not sell. Any feedback appreciated, as I'm unsure what went wrong. I didn't think it was unreasonably priced, compared to other auctions out there, but the market obviously didn't agree. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=605964495 Cheers Nick
  14. Has anyone been able to get one of these into their cart and out the checkout? Updated 2-26pm : now completely gone from the warehouse website.....:(
  15. I'm sure you'll have all seen this auction already, but I'm going to push it anyway http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=602724118 Apart from the fact that there is a S***load of lego in there (there is some megablock stuff too, but it seems to be mainly LEGO from my brief inspection - and they're not kidding when they say it fills a banana box!!), the Hospice is a really wonderful service, and supporting this auction will help support them. Cheers all
  16. Hi all, Has anyone seen the monster fighters haunted house (10228) around recently? Went to the Lego show out at West auckland with my girls on Saturday - Fantastic show, and really got me back in the mood to be doing stuff with LEGO again....:). Congratulations to any and all of you on here who were part of it....:)
  17. DOn't forget the Viking fortress 7019 - also lots of wooden parts. I've used this as the basis for a few early medieval designs, and I stock up on those wooden bits if I need to bulk out a BL order.
  18. <edit: no longer available>
  19. Toyco have the big building sets (town hall, pet shop, fire station), as well as some of the other special sets (dunno about the train), but these are specifically excluded from their sales (at least if you are purchasing in store).
  20. Hi there, Is there anyone is the Christchurch area who would be willing to collect a trade me lego purchase (assuming I win the auction) on my behalf and ship it to Auckland? Pick up would be from Mt. Pleasant area, and estimated weight would be about 3kg. I'll cover postage and a handling fee....:). Please let me know ASAP if you can, as the auction closes tomorrow. Cheers Nick
  21. Series 7 collectible minifigs - Who has seen the previews? what ones are people interested in getting? and in what numbers? and if suitable compatibilities can be arranged, who is interested in sharing the costs of getting a whole box (or 2)? Personally, I would like to get my hands on the Valkyries and bagpipers myself. cheers Nick
  22. Just stopped in at Toyworld Browns Bay this morning, and in addition to all that nice new dino stuff, they had the #7946 castle and #7189 mill village raid for significantly cheap prices ($119 for the castle and $90 for the mill). Looks like they might be clearing out the old stock in preparation for LOTR..... cheers Nick
  23. Hi all, <problem solved> Thanks Nick
  24. For those in the Auckland region, if you look in your latest local paper (friday in the case of the north shore times advertiser), you'll find a full page ad for Toyco in St Lukes with 3x 30% and 3x 25% of any single item discount vouchers. The T&C's prevent them being used for some of the big lego sets (7964, 7965,8070, 8110, 8043,7938, 7939, 2824 the 10* series) & they have to be the original vouchers - no copies or printouts accepted. Valid until Tuesday 15th November cheers Nick
