Maybe even something better - a recolor of an existing Herofig that gives us either a unique character, or a Stringer/Nex with the wrong helmet to keep us at bay while we wait for correct-helmet releases.

I have a feeling that the Nixels will have sets regardless of how un-fun they are. Look at them there. Their heads clearly have LEGO elements, which suggests simplification of sets already designed. Of course, they could just be drawn up based on bricks, but really I'm just hoping they make Nixel figures.

More X-Men sets! It's cool of LEGO to have designed a variant for Magneto; I was expecting them to reuse the classic costume from 2012, but this is definitely better. Storm looks promising as well, with a new cape cut and actually being a minifig at all. Hopefully their headgear are preliminary though; I'd rather see Storm with proper tiara, and Mags looks off with the original red helmet. I'm kinda disappointed by the box art at the bottom of the pic; if Wolverine got his cowl, it should've been the one on the box, rather than his unmasked variant. Does anyone know if there have been leaks in the LEGO video games of sets to be released a year later? LEGO Batman 2, LEGO LOTR and LEGO Marvel Superheroes all had previews of the sets that were released in the following winter wave, I'm sure. But I don't know about the summer wave.

Okay, it's nice to see that I'm not the only one who's certain that CB is the blue one and TB is the red one. The piece counts are a mystery, but I'm pretty sure that's only because we haven't seen them in their entirety yet. Besides the argument that CB would have to be the one who looks to have trans-blue, I think the low stature along with the multiple limbs on the red one fits a digger than it does a beast that is supposedly composed of crystals. Also, the blue guy has only been seen in the crystal-filled areas of the caves, while the red guy has so far only been seen in the rocky area. ..Yeah. Theories, man. Slightly off-topic: Has anyone else felt the Exo-Force/Power Miners crossover emanating from Invasion from Below?

So now that the set names have been revealed, I've taken a bit of time to properly assign them to the beasts and machines we've seen in the trailers (and that solitary catalog leak). You've probably all recognized what and which these names belong to already, but I've MSPainted some images to make it a little easier to see which is which. Every single one of these sets look really nice, and I'm willing to bet the designers had a heck of a time designing them too. It's great to see the variety of designs they can create with only a few new pieces to use. It's sad to see Nex and Stringer disappear this year, but I hope they release them as Herofigs in 2015. Now let's all sit and wait for evidence of Bulk's Drilling Machine to pop up. I'm as intrigued as all of us.

Adorable series. I love the consistency of these and how you used SNOT to shape them and help detail each one. From one look at them you can tell they're of the same kind, and yet you can see clearly how differently each is built, giving them their own kind of individuality. The LDD renders are pretty, but do you have the resources to build them out of real bricks? I'd like to see them next to their minifig counterparts. Great stuff, and happy new year!

Could the Queen's wing piece be an upscaled Chima spider leg? Perhaps it could find use in a possible Spider Tribe Ultrabuild this year.

Wow. Back in 2007 I merely shrugged this guy off, not bothering to care about such a weird set, but years later, I see this and I realize how much value he holds. You can tell how much thought the designers put into their work when they start producing vastly different and odd things with pieces normally used as torsos and arms. The torso design is genius and really turns "Inika build" in on its head. The head is just brilliant with the usage of the Ehlek spines to give ol' Dunky proper chompers, and I really like that they used ball joints for his jaw. Thank you for a good review of what, in my opinion, is a really good set. The photography is good with clean backgrounds and just enough shots to show the set in its entirety. Good review.

I just watched it again, and I finally managed to see it at a part where I can actually identify it. ... I don't like motion-blur.
-
Argh, and I was so excited that I had something going this time. Well, on the topic of part identification, can anyone tell what this one is? (I made a new batch of trailer screenshots by the way. Not much new, but they're there if y'all wanna see. Click the picture for the un-MSPainted version of this and the rest!) It's connected to what looks to be Bulk 3.0's wrist attachments. It looks to be an interesting way to build an arm, and I like that they didn't give it the standard Hero fists that even the CGI Jet Machine got.

Regarding the kaiju egg discussion; I went around the other themes and came across this: Is that a new piece she's using? Could it be the same pieces represented by these?
-
The detail on that website trailer is incredible.. Thanks, Xeros610! And he's right too, about the beast scales having always been there. Look at Flyer Beast over there: All of the beasts have that enhanced scale detailing on their kaiju noggins, pretty much ending all debate about whether or not the beast closeup is of a generic or made-up monstrosity.. and the eyes on the thing (along with the darker upper jaw - almost clearly black) confirm it as the egg-carrier beast. Oh, by the way, VBBN, I asked this in the Evo Walker review already, but could you demonstrate the Herofig setup on the Ninjago skeleton? I've been curious to see how it looks ever since it was first suggested, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. (also hi meso sup)

I'm really loving how LEGO isn't holding back with the specialized minifigures! The Hulk was one thing, but slowly but surely turning the bigfigure into its own size class for Marvel Superheroes is just great. At first I had thought that Hulk would be the only one, but seeing the Game and now Green Goblin, I'm glad they went this route. Admittedly, I also had hoped that the bigfigs had removable heads and hairpieces (the stud on top would have been a Duplo stud - imagine the realm of possibilities that would have opened up!), but we didn't get that and I guess I have to live with it. The loosening of restraint in figure design also brought us MODOK, whom I had not even expected to come as a minifig! Loving his huge noggin. Honestly, I can't wait for the next bigfig/unusual fig releases in this line, and gosh I really hope the Superheroes lines turn out to live as long as the Star Wars line.

Is there any chance to see the Herofig setup using the Ninjago skeleton body? Although not the best of its kind, I really like that walker for deviating from the bipedal structures of most of the sets we've had from the Hero Factory line-up. Since I don't have enough to get the XL anyway, I'll be sure to get this, for the figure, the kaiju, and the novelty of the build.
-
Here's a shot of them at 0:10: (Click for larger version) I really like how the designers didn't limit themselves to bipeds. It shows just how versatile the bone system is.
-
Darn it. Would've been nice though.. But now I wonder why, if Abomination's not gonna have a figure next year, did they feature him as the villain in that episode? They already have Gobby to throw as a big fig, and MODOK could also be put in to make the Hulk battle related to the Avengers. Still holding out hope..

Given that Maximum Overload's been full of fig previews, it would be odd if one of the CG characters turned out to not be included in next year's lineup, right? All I'm saying is, we know we're getting another Hulk-sized figure along with Ultimate Goblin, but the Hulk shown in Overload is the same one from last year's sets. Soo.. What if we're getting this guy instead? (From Maximum Overload episode 4) I think he pairs up with MODOK nicely, don't you think?
