Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
gavralcraw replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
Noticed these "Cool Running" game figures by Bozhi. Digger did a review of them. He reckons that after Decool and Sheng Yuan they are amongst the better brands out there. As he noted they look handy for making some superhero characters - the heads are ghastly but the hair and some of the bodies are quite unique and pretty cool. These aren't bootleg copies of lego or brand name superheroes but are manufactured by a rip off brand so this kind belongs here. They have a more Cosplay / anime feel (maybe exoforce?) than superhero but they could really add something to a custom minifig: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Parkour-Figures-5pcs-lot-Building-Blocks-Sets-Model-Educational-Classic-DIY-Bricks-Toy-For-Children/518094_1959808108.html -

The thing? in Flesh tones?! More like the Abomination... made me laugh when I saw them - not so sure I'd want the hulk buster with those beside it. -

Yeah, I've seen some concern over Chinese made lego. Yet to experience it myself. The plastic on the knockoffs feels a little different. It may be I'm projecting my own thoughts on it but the leg edges are a little sharper. It's really minor though. The Sheng Yuan are pretty decent for a bootleg. And you have to really look to spot the differences. Casual inspection you'd no know. But stiffer legs, minor angle issues on the legs, tight headwear. Meh. I got an IQ Captain America figure and that was utterly terrible. -

Just got the Sheng Yuan batgirl, riddler, joker and night wing. My son loves them. They make a good treat and the collector in me is happy to see him bashing them together as he fights in violent four year old fashion. Take that riddler! Torsos are spot on in shape. Arms a little different in shape and joints are a bit easier to remove. Hips are ok but slightly off. Colours match lego mostly. Head is stuck in bat girls hair/cowl. Assembly needs to be spot on cause disassembly might not be possible. Overall it doesn't feel like lego. Lighter and brittler. But pretty good. This blog sums it up nicely: http://mybrickstore.blogspot.com.au/2014/08/lele-superheroes-figure-set-of-8.html?m=1 AE looks ok. I'll just stick to people with lots of sales and decent feedback I reckon. Thanks. -
Awesome! Love the colours and the way they transition. The bits of gold are pure gold :)

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

The older sets get a little harder to find. I haven't seen a reasonably priced superman bizarro set. Just ordered the decool shazam dr doom flash set and it was a bit more. About $2 a figure. It's getting a little scarcer and is more than other sets. I think the pricing is a little high at the start (rh the hulk buster) until the market is flooded / the item is distributed. Then prices drop. Then as the vendors sell out prices rise. Then they're out and prices are ridiculous. This is only my 76th post. Rob sounds right - punisher will be around for a while I reckon. Get your shazams now though. Thanks for the advice on aliexpress. Will probably hold out till prices on the hulk buster get realistic on eBay as Aliexpress is higher than eBay auctions and buy it nows. Wish Sheng Yuan would do a villains pack to create armies of bad guys. I find that one hero vs a single soldior is unrealistic - as far as comics go. ;) looks like these companies are going after movie tie ins to maximise profits. Hence guardians sets. -

Was thinking about getting the hulk buster from Aliexpress. Anyone used this? It loooks dodgy - you need to give them your visa details. Lol - bottpeg pirate stuff is dodgy. Maybe this is karma. -

Maybe old news but on buying overseas and shipping to oz - Barnes and Noble are very good with post - about $13 US from US to OZ flat per item. You can pre-order sets even cheaper in their early bird specials and they also have regular online discounts for members. They also have a kids club. Worth keeping an eye on and giving heads up here as the cheaper US prices make things a real bargain even with postage. Please correct me if I am wrong. This was my understanding from a year ago. So for example spaceship spaceship spaceship is $113 USD or about $125 Aud including post. -
Nice set in the round. Those large tan curved peices look very cool too. And the minifigs. Hmmm definate maybe to get.

Using those pesky soccer stands I tried to make a little thumb wrestler style Boxing MOC. I always bet on the red guy and I win. This was a work Kris Kringle with a $10 budget for a guy who does boxercise religiously. Budget constraints stopped me from going blue vs red... Lovely work Farmer Harv! I very much like the extended size. This is a great idea here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87233&hl=leia#entry1709118

JDurg, sounds cool. Sharing ideas may give me the motivation I have been sorely lacking. The skiff looks good but I went after the men only from bricklink - Lando and Weequay? The sail barge figures are good... I'd love to build Max Rebo's round music organ thing. There are LDD versions of the lego sets here somewhere if you wanted to start with them. I have been playing around with some of the details and stockpiling tan, dark tan, brown, flesh and dark blueish grey parts. Pearl gold, dark red and bark blue look good for highlights but I don't have much. Been thinking about how to do the viewing floor grates from the throne room into the rancor pit as I am unsatisfied with the lego peice provided - 2x2 turntables with the top removed look good but the support is bad without clear plates beneath - and these are very small so no good. I think this is a better idea: https://www.flickr.com/photos/78271818@N00/14254482347/ The lattice structure appears pretty sound but with its size and odd length peices it isnt perfect. A really big gate with teeth is an excellent idea. Given the scale of the dome fort it might be best to imply it above with a high wall only ... The rest would be underground. I grabbed two of the lego lone ranger silver mine sets on sale for the additional peices - they have a slide that would go nicely from the trap door to the rancor pit and good matching colour parts. Ralph McQuarrie pics are also good reference for the feel of things... anyways.

Sounds like what I want to do but I keep hitting a wall... anyways would love to see you LDD model. Oh yeah - this might help - http://beholdthewook...rim-report.html - best for last though check this out - http://www.niubniubsuniverse.com/visitorMaking/beaulieu/Jabba01.asp

The sticker sheets can be pretty big and can have dead space. It would be nice if lego used the dead space and made additional stickers. Things like torso decals (maybe to make female characters given the recent flack they got about not making enough females), cracks / smashes / weatheing bits. Additional road signs for car sets. Bits of alien writing for space ships. A bunch of flashy names to customise a fighter plane (collect all eight...). Broken mortar with bricks behind for buildings. Something related to the set but not required or specified in the isntructions allowing some customisation (ah the good old days when there were additional pictures of what other things you could make out of a set). Kids could use their creativity and mocers would enjoy them more. Maybe a Glen or Glenda printed decal head (like good cop bad cop ;) ) with the female stickers... not taking the micky here. It's all about choice. Stickers are the poor mans' decals but still have their place and are much more versatile.

Yeah Toy's R Us have a decent sale on. Thanks to Alien24 for the heads up on the Spiderman helicopter 76016 set from TRU. They had a sign up saying they weren't honoring the deal but I went up to the counter with the cattle dog and the box and - woof woof - I got one for $32 - love a lego bargain! Nice 'roiding Green Goblin and MJ figure. The rest is ok I guess. My kids will love it! Not many left though. -
Nothing. I was perplexed too.

I tried the jumper plates with straight rail tracks - black ramp narrow gauge to light grey straight section then to a ramp and two more straights - it works nicely. Pity straight black track is about $50 a peice. Go with the dark bluish grey track if you can as mixing colours looks poor. Also... check out this thread - http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=31962 and this is worth a look. http://www.shapeways.com/model/454182/lego-rail3.html - custom connectors. Cuussoo had some narrow gauge stuf but it got nowhere.
