  1. You can import LDraw part in LeoCAD (file > Piece library manager > import piece), but are you sure that the needed parts exists in LDraw library? You can also use LDView to export 3DS files.
  2. It seems it has not been announced here yet: Two days ago, LDraw released 2012-01 Parts Update, including (among other things) a lot of NXT, Power Functions and 12V train parts. Get it here: http://www.ldraw.org/Article608.html
  3. Thanks everybody, I learned a lot of things in 3D sculpting during this process! Actually this is a multi-pass process, the object is turned and you can scan another area. The partial scans are then more or less automatically assembled and fused by the software I used, David Laser scanner. After that I clean the result and enhance edges (LDraw parts are somewhat idealized with edges outlining angles) using MeshMixer.
  4. Yesterday I posted this in special LEGO themes... but I realize that some guys here may be interested ;) (or is there a way to have cross-posts between different forums???)
  5. About two years ago I started to create LDraw parts for Fabuland heads. This quest has come to an end, and to celebrate this I have created posters with all Fabuland people together: High resolution images and LDraw files are available in my Brickshelf folder For the record, the heads were scanned using my 3D laser scanner... Special thanks to all people who helped me, lending me Fabuland figures, providing photos and assembling shortcuts!
  6. Thanks DLuders... but it seems that your link is broken, and I am not sure I was clear: there is a BOM in Laix instructions, and I'm curious to know how he inserted the links to Bricklink - manually I guess?
  7. I do! very well done... How do you create the BOM with Bricklink links?
  8. LDView can also export in 3DS and STL file formats.
  9. Beautiful models and renderings! This should help for the White House...
  10. Excellent!!! Very good write-ups too on your website...
  11. Here they are... I posted them on Brickshelf so that anybody can access them. Remember that they are crude LDD conversion, not up to LDraw standards (eg. studs are not substituted with primitives, so no automatic connectivity in SR3D Builder!). 64645 64651 Have fun!
  12. OK, I'm kind of busy these days, remind me (philoATphilohome.com) if you don't get the mail in the next few days.
  13. For this end of year, we get two great news in the LDraw world: - New version of MLCad, 3.4. Including the long sought after Undo function, improvements for Vista/Seven, some bugs corrections. See MLCad history for more details. - LDraw official parts update 2011-02: 474 new parts for your virtual models!
  14. Current gain at high current/low collector voltage, and saturation voltage. Both are better for BC337.
  15. Yes, that's what I meant. And your current gain of 100 is IMHO optimistic for this kind of transistor. If you look at this datasheet you see that saturation voltage is specified for a 150mA collector current... at a 15 mA base current! If you base current is too low there is a large voltage drop in the transistor, reducing LED current. I'd also suggest a transistor better suited for high current such as BC337 What voltage do you intend to use, 12V?
  16. Maybe the transistor can't provide that current. What transistor have you used? Base resistor value?
  17. If someone wants to see my mistakes, the SR3D file (MLCad compatible) is here. BTW, what software did you use, MLCad, SR3D, LDD ???
  18. Grrrr... Seeing your solution I realize I completely botched the back of the motor I knew I was wrong there, but it was obvious!
  19. But there is no problem connecting them too... this way a PF light or a motor could be run directly off battery (preferably with a polarity switch inserted to avoid need of disconnecting the battery or the device)
  20. Yes, the IR receiver does get its supply from the outer wires of PF cable. Just make sure not to reverse polarity!
  21. There is a discussion about Kwon problem here
  22. Hello Kwon, I have no answer for your sticker generator problem (I don't use it), but all stickers for the unimog are available on parts tracker: http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptscan.cgi?q=4622303
  23. Excellent! Always love your contraptions, this one is no exception!
  24. Wow! I missed this one during holidays season... awesome! Thanks for the reminder
  25. At the bottom of my motors comparison page, I gathered some data about performance of motors on RCX, including curves for two paralleled motors...
