  1. I dreamed tonight. Of the times when our good King Artorious still sat on the throne. Of the times when Avalonia still was the strongest guild. Of the time I was part of the Dragonflight, and stationed on the Mystic Isles. Of the time our biggest problems were still hiding in the vast woods. Of the time life was simple. Of the time life was good. I dreamed tonight. So, my part of the Avalonian entry for the Guild Creation category in the Summer Joust, over on Flickr. A nostalgic build, using DC's Guide to Building a Medieval Village. Thanks to him for the lovely techniques, to my fellow team-members for the support and to InnovaLUG for hosting the contest!
  2. It was the best of times. It was the worst of times… Spring had reached the Trifork, and the city was in had hardly seen better times. Having been spared the terrors of the Kaliphlin civil war (although battles had been fought only miles across the border); avoided the plague and the infestation of Drow that had plagued Avalonia; and seen no incursion of the strange bringers of winter rumoured to roam the north (although there had been a certain chill in the northern winds); the Trifork was prosperous as never before. However, there was no flurry of spirit, none of the exaltation and celebration one would expect during such an extended period of increasing wealth. No one was starving, to be sure, and businesses were growing, ever investing in new workshops, warehouses, or stores, but something was dampening the free flow of high spirits. Piazzza Municipiale, the center of the Trifork This something was no mystery to anyone in their right minds. While a traveller might take the Trifork for a wealthy city wholly inhabited by melancholic stoics, the locals, high and low, knew the source of this depression: The Trifork was at war, and its alliances seemed to be wavering. The Lord Mayor was away with the cavalry to the west, fighting an incursion of an unknown enemy, and his Second-in-command, Sir William Drake, had brought most of the Infantry south.(The Aestwäld Saga, part 8) It was not that the people felt unsafe, as the remaining forces would hold of anything but a full on assault, by way of the extensive fortifications of the City. But the people and their leaders were weary of war. Everyone, high and low, had a relative, friend, or colleague amongst the troops, and everyone had been reminded by the terrors of war, as the veterans had returned from the Kaliphlin campaigns, carrying their fallen brother. Everyone longed to see their loved ones return, longed to have their leader back. It was not that they disliked the rule of his wife. She was much respected, and she managed everything to the satisfaction of every honest man. It was simply a case of stability and ease-of-mind. There was a want of good news and of peace, of returning to everyday life. And to this came the alarming rumours of alliances falling apart, Avalonia about to collapse, Cedrica to be ruled by the damned bastard dog of Nocturnus, and creatures of winter bringing an ice age with them as they descended from the north. The City Hall, center of the Trifork civil administration Mariana knew all of these rumours, as she was asked about them by all she met on her daily rounds through the city. And while she could put some to ease, she knew far too well that others were horridly true. More than anyone else, she knew the situation. Only the negative stories seemed to be backed by firm evidence, while the good news seemed dreamy and inconclusive. Oh, how she longed for good news. Conclusive good news. Travellers from the north did talk of the Algus being beating back, and some said that Alric and Beorthan had won a victory in Drond's Feelds, but it was all very cloudy. The latest letter from her husband announced that he was to chase down the remaining enemies near the border, but it had been weeks without news. Another source of worries was diplomacy. Around the time of Beorthan's departure, several emissaries had been sent out to reaffirm relations to the Avalonian leadership, the High Council of Kaliphlin, as well as the resistance in Nocturnus. However, none but the last had so far yielded any reply. It was strange rumours that came from Shadowmere. They mentioned the death of one of the Trifork's most powerful allies, the half-vampire lord Vladivus. However, Tauro, who had been sent to there as emissary, had sent back a short note affirming the death, but also the reinstatementof Vladivus as Lord of Shadowmere. It did mention dark arts, but gave no true explanation. At least it was news. Neither the members of the Kaliphlin High Council, nor the Avalonian leadership had made any reply, and none of the emissaries had returned. Had the Trifork's Allies forsaken them? Were the messengers intercepted, or even killed on arrival? Had the Desert King tightened his grip on Kaliphlin? Did not the Avalonian High Lords condone of the Trifork's support of the High Council? It was little wonder that rumours thrived. Market and entertainers on the Piazza Yet through all this, life moved on, and the main square, the Piazza Municipale, of the Trifork was as ever bustling with life. On the square a Kaliphlinite theatrical troupe was giving performance, and several merchants were hawking their wares. Renovating the square This was not market day, and the current renovations of the tiling of the square did limit the space available for market stalls. These works would soon be over, and the square would once more be back to its own polished self and full of traders. The Trifork City Court Apart from the City Hall, the Piazza Municipiale contained some of the most prominent structures of the Trifork, including the City Court, which precided over both civilian and mercantile cases, and ensured fairness and justice for all residents and visitors of the Trifork. Placed on the border between Avalonia, Kaliphlin and the King's Lands of Cedrica, the Court mediated and judged many cases spanning the guilds, and was widely reputed for its fairness and wisdom in ruling. La Fontana de Aqua Another remarkable sight was the Fontana de Aqua, the main water supply of the Trifork. While water was in abundance from the lake, several fresh springs emerged near the Trifork, all to be let through intricate systems of piping to the many fountains found throughout the Trifork, most prominently the Fontana de Aqua. The water from these springs was much cleaner than that of the lake, and many attributed the good health of the Trifork citizens to the access of high quality water. The Trifork Textile Guild Headquarter(Left) and the Bank of the Three Rivers (Right) The more enterprising sides of the Trifork also found representation on the piazza. By many, the sand green headquarter of the Trifork Textile Guild was regarded as the most elegant building of the city. Designed by a famous Varlyrian architect, and the newest building of the square, its intricate facade has impressed many a merchant about to embark on business with the guild. The textile guild is one of the most influential organisations of the Trifork, and controls several manufacturies, warehouses, and shops thoughout the city, and although consisting of several independent businessmen, all major orders are handled through the guild headquarters. With the abundance of water from the lakes and rivers, the Trifork is the perfect place for textile production, and its position as a trade hub ensures access to colourful substances, exotic threads, and rare materials important for the production of exquisite textiles, as well as a large buyer base for its finished products. Colloqually known as the "River Bank" (to much mirth for some) the Bank of the Three Rivers is the main financial institution of the Trifork, protecting your savings, or lending you considerable sums for your next investment. While not particularly large, or well-known, it is one of the oldest institutions of the Trifork, to which it owes its prime location in the square, and a reputation for security and trustworthyness. The Old Moot The central square of the Trifork emerged in an age long past, just by the old oak where the first city moots were held. Although many has offered fortunes to purchase the plot for development, the citizens of the Trifork have never allowed this. It is widely regarded as the origins of the city, as where the first druids met to settle down, and short of murder or rape, damaging the tree or littering the area is one of the most serious crimes one can commit in the Trifork. In fact, no Mayor can be elected before swearing to protect the Old Moot. _______________________________________________________________________ This was my biggest build to date, and I am very happy with the outcome. (Although the pictures, taken in a necessary rush, would do with a proper background) It is meant to wrap up a lot of ongoing storylines, and hopefully propel them further, as well as developing the Trifork towards my plans for the city. Several of these buildings will be entered in task 4, and the Trifork Textile Guild is meant to be my entry into task 6, and something I will hopefully find the time to elaborate on in the future. I have long been absent from the Guilds, and I cannot say when I next have something to post, but I am still here! Beorthan's tales are not over. C&C is more than welcome.
  3. What are the Huns looking at? What is he looking at? The ants are comming..... _________ This is also a build for the Summer Just 2016 And here an alternative scenario ;-)
  4. There once was a tower near a river in the woods of Avalonia, an outpost of soldiers. The outpost is constantly ravaged by nature and bandit raids, so after many years, the commander finally decided that it is not worth the effort or resources and ordered his troops to another location, abandoning the nearly ruined outpost to its fate. Due to its strategic position nearby a busy road, Forestmen wasted no time to take over the abandoned tower. As skilled in stealth and marksmenship as Forestmen are, they aren't expert carpenters or builders, so the tower never reached to its former glory, but after a few repairs and extensions the place became livable enough, as well as allowing its new occupants to flee into the safety of the forest through the bridge if needed. 5. The Kobot Abbey was built by the brothers of the Healfaith Order. It is located in Avalonia at the lake in the southwest of Albion. The brothers care a lot for all the people around them and run a hospital for everyone. But sometimes their help comes too late: Therefore they also have a graveyard… Food and water come from their own fishery,… Pigs and.. ..fountain. Other food is coming by the “monk-donkey” But their work is always after their prayers. --- And some action: I took this video at the convention SteinCHenwelt were my MOC was part of a collaboration with an Falcon army invasion… If the Flicker video is not working so well you can see an other one
  6. After long talks and many couriers, Alric's wife Elysabeth has decided to build a Mitgardian ambassady. She hired one of Nordheim's most famous architects to put a Northern building in an Avalonian landscape. Of course, the building features full interiors: In the central hall, Elysabeth and Nordheim's ambassador Hollr are talking about trade agreements. Maybe an alliance follows... So, I always liked Mitgardia, but Soccerkid's and kabel's builds kindled a true love for the north in my heart. The building itself uses only "Mitgardian" techniques, while the environnement is based on Full Plate and DC. Special thanks to SK for helping out with the roof (who is better now then on most of the images) and to Halhi141 for the stained glass windows
  7. As Captain Liam led the procession across the bridge, Peter lost his breath as the vast wall loomed over him. Eric grinned. "Never seen anything so huge, i'd wager." Peter didn't respond. He was lost in a trance, completely overwhelmed from the sight of the wall. "Welcome to Farrveil Fortress," captian Liam grumbled ahead of them. "Once he see some of the castles of Kaliphilin, he'll probably drop down dead," muttered a soldier to Eric. The gates slowly opened, allowing the troop access to the vast interior. "Peter!" Captian Liam commanded, "Follow Eric to the barracks, where you'll await your assignment." Peter did as he was told. Eric led him to a darker part of the town, into the barracks. They seemed decently well kept, though Peter didn't notice this. He went straight to sit down and think about everything that had hapopened. Taken from his own home! This was unthinkable. The family would be fine, his daughter wasn't really sick, he had said that just to avoid going with Liam. "Get some sleep," Eric suggested, "you'll have a long day ahead of you tomorrow." Comments appreciated, also, I'd like to submit this for the 5th avalonian task.
  8. Previous Chapter (by LV) -------------------------------- Alric hands itched. In the previous days, he and his men had cleared the area around Shadowmere from thug, thieves and other people Lord Vladivius and he didn't want to have around. Most of it hadn't even been real fights: sent in the Drond's heavy cavalry, and about an hour later the infantry to clean their mess up. But now, he had found an opponent larger then his own army. His spies had told him an important supporter of the Desert King would pass by today. He couldn't let that happen. So he had prepared his troops to ambush them, and here, at the hollow road, was the perfect place. When he would raise his hand, the crossbow-men would change the hollow way into a dead-trap. Suddenly he heart the sounds of clashing armour, of hundreds of feet stamping the ground to mud with their marching. He knew his enemy was coming, and spanned all his muscles, ready to attack. A column of armed goblins appeared. At their head rode an armoured person, clad in black iron. He had given his best archer command to take that one out as first. He knew his enemy, and Gal Turok was worth twenty good Drond's men if not taken care of early. The army approached rapidly, and was almost there. Fifty feet left to give the signal. Thirty feet. Alric made his sword loose in it's sheet. Twenty feet. He clenched his fist. Ten... "Alric." A booming voice sounded in his ears and over the road. The enemy knew they were there? Alric, who knew hiding was useless, stood up. "Yes, Gal Turok?" -"Say to your archers to relax. I know exactly how many men you've got there, and I know how many supplies you've got, how long they will stretch... And I know you've got a fair amount of gravely wounded with you. You won't leave quickly if need be." That was true. The last band of thieves had been more organised then they seemed, and a considerable amount of men got wounded, or maimed, in the battle. He sighed, and signed to the men to stand up but hold their arms ready. "Much better, Alric. Did you really think you could ambush us?" -"..." "No, you still think in terms of the previous conflict. But that is past time. No, this battle is way more important. I fight for Nocturnus, for the Resistance. You do the same. That's the only thing that matters. We're on the same side, guy. And as much as I hate it to say, Nocturnus needs you and your army." Gal Turok let a small silence, but then continued: "I propose an alliance." The Great Goblin Uniter stretched his hand out to Count of Drond's Feelds. ---------------------------------------------------- CC very welcome, special thanks to Blufiji for his wonderfull techniques and kindness in explaining them, and to you for the kind comments on the previous MOC and for reading this! 9. Recently three GoH members (Myself, I Scream Clone and Frumpy) collaborated together on a build for a local Sydney show. Shadow Woods 06 by Dr. Rod, on Flickr The left side is by I Scream Clone, the forest by myself and the right side by Frumpy. The diorama shows a Nocturnus and Avalonian castle, separated by the "Shadowpath Forest". Location is the North west corner of Nocturnus, in the foothills of the Rakath Mountains. Will link to more detailed photos when available. Shadow Woods 03 by Dr. Rod, on Flickr Dr Rod
  10. Previous Chapter: The Aegis Council --- Next Chapter: The Burnt Roads (Warning, this chapter is LONG) Ansriff had met Voraal at the tavern and led him deep into the forest. "Yes, she's deep within the woods. Apparently, i've met her before." Ansriff said. "What? Where?" Voraal inquired. "It was back on one of my patrols, Avdar and i were on lookout for drows, but what we found was much worse. A pyromancer had been torturing a little girl, searing her skin with fire. Avdar snook up behind the maniac and sheathed his sword right in the pyro's throat. I then went to wrap up the injured girl in my cloak, and we brought her back to Vanhorn to heal her. But before we left the area, the pyromancer's staff sent some weird red aura into the girl. I spoke naught of it to Avdar, for i feared for the girl." Ansriff explained. "What's her name?" Voraal asked. "Temari, she called herself." Voraal nodded to Ansriff. "Thank you, here's your silver." he handed a heavy sack of coins to Ansriff. He refused. "No thank you. Take as a favor from a friend. Besides, i never got you a birth day present in the last ten years." Ansriff said. Voraal smirked, and walked up to a small paved area with a thin dark figure standing in the middle, chanting what sounded to Voraal gibberish. He coughed politely, and Temari jerked herself to turn to Voraal. "H...hello." Voraal said nervously. Temari brushed her hair away from her face. "What are you doing here?" "I came to find you." Voraal said. Temari narrowed her eyes. "Who sent you?" she asked. "Myself." Voraal replied, with a glint in his eye. "Why did you come to find me?" Voraal stood idle for a moment. "Because, i found beauty in you, despite your dark magic. "I am a pyromancer, not a sorceress. But, i thank you for your loving thought." she said. "I know how you received your flame." Voraal said. "How?!" Temari exclaimed. "One of my Ranger friends found you, after being tortured by a pyromancer, and they took you back to the city." Voraal said. "Oh, Ansriff. He was like a father to me, until i ran away out of anxiety. I learned to live with my curse, the curse of the flame." she said. "Together, i can help you heal this curse." Voraal stepped closer. "Would you? After you saw that i served Axtrous? He killed the tribal elf." Temari remarked. "Yes. I have no care for those elves." Voraal replied. Temari stepped a bit closer, and held Voraal's right hand with her left. The road was long to Kaliphlin, but Voraal and Temari made a great distance. Temari's home was in the Siccus Badlands. She lived in a large cave where she practiced her pyro magic. Together they would live in peace in Kaliphlin. --- Hey guys, sorry if any of you thought this was a long chapter. I just wanted to push Voraal out of Aeldric's story as fast as possible, as Aeldric will be recruiting new rangers in the following months. C & C welcome.
  11. A trio of Avalonian soldiers return to Araluen from Kaliphalin, where they were stationed during the civil war. Now that the fighting has died down and their captain has recovered from the attempt on his life they finally made their way back home to the vast forests of Avalonia. Nearby, a trio of Araluen town guardsmen explore the underground network of tunnels left by the Drow and Dwarves. They have been tasked with exploring and mapping out the tunnel systems near Araluen so that they can be used by the Avalonian. Neither the guards or the makers of these tunnels ever realized how close they came to finding the resting place of a magnificent ancient beast. Here is a shot of the tunnel from the other side Notes: All the underground scenes in these builds were built about a year ago, and i had planned to put my Task 5 castle on top( All the builds are connected, with the tunnel on the left, the forest in the middle, and the bones on the left), but then i lost interest in it and it sat around for a long time, until i eventually decided that the castle wasn't up to my standards anymore, so I tore it down( I really, really needed the pieces). I kept the underground scenes since I liked them, and I tried to come up with a use for it for a while, but recently I decided to just photograph the good parts as separate builds. I also built the forest scene in the middle in another attempt to finish the whole scene, but quickly gave up and decided to only make a small scene with it. C & C welcome
  12. During my wanderings through Avalonia, I saw a herd of wild horses. While I was watching, I saw that the donkey was the lead animal. That was so strange that I decided to catch him, hoping that all others would follow him. It worked. Now I bring them to Kaliphlin. They can certainly use horses for reconstruction after the civil war. But when they are hungry, they will probably not be too tired to make this sausage. What's the name again? Salami, right? Overview shots: ___________________________________________________________________________ This was a quick construction eve with my daughter (3). She built beside me this pretty horse pasture: and also my first entry for the Historica Husbandry By the way: I know that I am not a good photographer
  13. Fortress weren't build for nothing and the Galenas Fortress wasn't different: builded at mid mountain, in a small plateau, it dominated the union of two valleys and the traffic going on below. The mountains there were rich, under the forest cover, there were lead and silver, iron and copper, even gold was found; in this part of the mountains the mining of the galena, a mineral from which was extract silver and lead, was thriving. The work in the mines was hard, as the following refining, but it was profitable and needed: a lot of the refined metal was going in the other parts of Avalonia and as more were mined, less was imported from outside. Galenas Fortress, as the name said, was builded to control the mining and refining of the galena; a permanent garrison was stationed in the fortress, part of the refined metal too was stored there before being shipped away and the commerce was strictly controlled. Today, a single messanger was en route of Hidden Garden, to carry the latest monthly accounts and come back with fresh orders. = = = = = = = = = This was a troubled MOC, I started it months ago, like January/February but I couldn't finish it, then I worked on it another time around mid spring and then finally, like a week ago I finished it! I wished I could do more than the simple walls, but I couldn't find good ideas/techniques to do what I had in mind. It's been a while from my last freebuild, so I'm quite happy to post this! In mind, I have a small idea for another MOC to connect to this, but we will see! I hope you Enjoy!
  14. (Sorry that i've been a bit inactive. I've been really busy with school, and it's been hard ot find a time to put this up. More builds on the way, enjoy!) Previous Chapter: Avdar's Office (Remake) --- Next Chapter: Chambers of the Nightlord (And now, Beyond Vanhorn) The forest smelled fresh with the breath of the old trees. A soothing breeze swept through the leaves. Aeldric and Voraal were on their secret patrol through the forest for the elves. They came up to a small ruin. All was quiet, until a duo of female elves leaped out of the thick brush. They held their staves against Aeldric and Voraal. Ashura: "Who are you?" Anursa: "Why are you in our forest?" Aeldric took a moment to gather his thoughts. He glanced at Ashura with eyes of interest. Aeldric: "My friend and I gathered detail about you, a special group of elves, and we came to look for you for answers about Dar Askelohn." Anursa remained quiet. She was rather shy. Ashura glanced at her. Then back to Aeldric. Ashura: "What about Dar?" Aeldric: "We found a tomb with his name engraved upon it. I thought he went missing in the mountains just beyond the border of Mitgardia." Ashura: (left) pondered this. "Our older brother may have some answers to this." Ashura led Aeldric and Voraal deeper into the ruins, and before them sat a male elf on a birch throne, with a green jewel of temperance above it. Ashura: "Bow to him, man." Ashura commanded Aeldric. Aeldric stepped forward, and gave the elf a light bow. He noticed that the throne was wrapped in vines, and overgrown with lush nature. Aurthal: "What do you wish to know about my friend?" the elderly elf asked. Aeldric: "I would wish to know of his whereabouts. We found a tomb in the forest with his name upon it, and i thought he went missing in the north. Aurthal: "He did. There are many false graves of the knowledge master. He does live now, and i can show you to him, but only if you do a favor for me." Aeldric: "What would that be?" he asked, glancing once again at Ashura. She gave him a light nod. Aurthal: "I have been having troubles with a group of necrotic Nocturnians in the forest. They have built a secret underground structure housing another of my friends. He may be able to help you find Dar. You must help us rescue him, and defeat the leader of this group." Aeldric ran his fingers through his hair. He'd never dealt with a group of evil power. He considered it deeply. Aeldric: "Voraal and i will help you defeat this group, in return for knowledge of Dar's whereabouts." Aurthal: "Very well. You will meet us at the entrance tomorrow at dusk. Might i ask why, you need to find Dar?" Aeldric: "I lost my parents a long time ago, to a group of black-hearted necromancers. I know that Dar could help me find this group, and put my revenge upon them." Alright guys, this build was before the remake of Avdar's Office, so those tips didn't apply here. Also, i know there's no base or frame for the build. I just couldn't find a good look for it. Anyways, leave your thoughts!
  15. The following information comes from Wikipedia, page winemaking After the harvest, the grapes are taken into a winery and prepared for primary ferment. At this stage red wine making diverges from white wine making. Red wineis made from the must (pulp) of red or black grapes and fermentation occurs together with the grape skins, which give the wine its color. To start primary fermentation yeast may be added to the must for red wine or may occur naturally as ambient yeast on the grapes or in the air. Yeast may be added to the juice for white wine. During this fermentation, which often takes between one and two weeks, the yeast converts most of the sugars in the grape juice into ethanol (alcohol) and carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide is lost to the atmosphere. After the primary fermentation of red grapes the free run wine is pumped off into tanks and the skins are pressed to extract the remaining juice and wine. The press wine is blended with the free run wine at the winemaker's discretion. Red wine is sometimes transferred to oak barrels to mature for a period of weeks or months; this practice imparts oakaromas and some tannin to the wine. The wine must be settled or clarified and adjustments made prior to bottling. The time from harvest to drinking can vary from a few months for Beaujolais nouveau wines to over twenty years for wine of good structure with high levels of acid, tannin or sugar. However, only about 10% of all red and 5% of white wine will taste better after five years than it will after just one year.[1] Depending on the quality of grape and the target wine style, some of these steps may be combined or omitted to achieve the particular goals of the winemaker. Many wines of comparable quality are produced using similar but distinctly different approaches to their production; quality is dictated by the attributes of the starting material and not necessarily the steps taken during vinification. --------------------------------------- Additional pictures
  16. The Trifork has not been unaffected by the recent conflicts. Civil war in Nocturnus has brought strange fugitives to its borders; Drow incursions and rumours of plague in Avalonia has led to local unrest; Troubles in Mitgardia has disturbed trade and mythical incursions from the far north has brought fear to those lands; Lastly, the bloody struggle for control over Kaliphlin has demanded lives of sons, fathers and brothers, and disturbed basicly all daily tasks and routines of the border town. During these times, everyone must take their part in feeding their families and keeping the economy going. One such person is young Peter, who has taken up tending to his family's sheep with his trusty dalmatian, while his father serves with the Trifork city guard. In the highlands north of the Trifork, the lands are perfect for grazing. However, as the highlands are a good two days out, the shepherds maintain a number of small huts for all of the community to use. Here they rest for the night, and store supplies to make their lives more comfortable. It is customary for shepherds to leave something for the next inhabitant, be it cheese, wine, bread, or similar. Sheep is a popular livestock, as it can produce both meats, dairy products and wool, ensuring a steady income for the shepherds, regardless of price developments in any single commodity. Therefore, Peter's work is enough to keep his family well fed and to supply them with surplus products to take to the market. Thanks for looking - my second build for the husbandry minichallenge. The shepherd is from my minifig-series and I had the sheep lying around since forever. (They are not my own design, but I can't remember where I saw it.) C&C welcome - again thanks for a nice minichallenge!
  17. All men must eat - especially during times of crisis, where large parts of the workforce is diverted to war time production or the military forces. And while bread, potatoes and dairy form the basis of nutrition, a happy and healthy populace (and army) requires more diversified diets. Located in the far south of Avalonia, with hot winds blowing in from the Kaliphlinite plains, the Trifork has perfect conditions for growing many different types of produce. These crafty farmers have abondoned the hard labour of growing grains and turned to the more delicate business of oranges and other lemonfruits. While adult trees adapt well to the climate, saplings have to be groomed and require additional incubation. This is done in greenhouses, simulating the climate of more tropical regions, to allow the young trees to establish roots and resilience for the slightly harsher local weather conditions. With a high yield production the orchards of the Trifork normally delivers more than enough lemonfruits for the local populace. Recently, however, prices have been driven up and the produce reserved to a more elitist market. Hopefully the markets will normalise, so all again can enjoy the sweet and sour sensation of the fruits. For now, the farmers enjoy a premium on their prices... __________________________________ An entry for the Husbandry challenge - C&C welcome. I know this isn't anything special, but I wanted to try out my new fences (PAB) and try building a greenhouse. In fact, that part was more complex than I had anticipated. Thanks for a nice minichallenge!
  18. Reyelan fared surprising well during the Kaliphlin Civil War. So well, the government began buying a portion of the food from farmers and millers to sell to surrounding areas. Graham rides out to one of the mills to check in on the process.
  19. Nur Amon is a small village at the Drond's border with the Trifork. The few villagers who live there are defended against raiders by a strong tower, part of the "defensive wall" around Drondil's Kaliphlin border. Not that there are many of them, The only possible loot would be the livestock of Nur Amon's farmers. Suddenly the air darkens. A seamingly endless stream of black-clad warriors start to pear into the village. Seeing this, the guardsmen gives a cry and asks who they are and if Alric knows they are in his territory. The warriors just ignore his question, and while the rest start raiding the village, one of them stabs a spear through the guard's guts. One by one, his collegues end up with the same fate, while other soldiers purue the remaining farmers. On top of the tower, the last guard puts up a desperate fight, but his effort can't win the skirmish. A black soldiers takes down the flag of our proud county, green of Avalonia and blue of Drondil, and after putting up their own fight, starts relieving himself on our colours!!! Then he throws it down and leaves the roof. -------------------------------- Quint was afraid. No he wasn't afraid: he was scared to death! Never ever happened in Nur Amon, and now they were the subject of an invasion, with him being the only one left alive! He was laying on the ground with at least three spears pointing at his head. Suddenly, a shadow appeared. A raw voice sounded: You're probably thinking why you're still breathing. Well, you're going to do something to me. Run to your daddy -but, your soldiers just killed my da- the other side of a spear made him be silent. You're going to run to that count of you and tell him right this: (sarcastic) Lord Alric. Wanna switch your wife for your county? Cheers. Understood?Quint nodded, and while the soldiers pillaged his home, he ran as he never had before. ------------------------ I'm quite proud of this, and it will be seeable at BMA. I used another camera for these pictures, is it better? Thanks to Beorthan for collab-ing with me, to Maxim, and to you for reading! Untill the next chapter, Titus ------------------------- Addditional pictures:
  20. Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3a Chapter 3b Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Having made preparations for leaving, Beorthan is now at the head of the Trifork Lancers, being guided westwards by the somewhat battered messenger to join forces with Aelric. The Trifork Lancers form an elite company of heavy cavalry, making up the main shock force of the Trifork Arsenal. Formed shortly after Beorthan's election as Lord Mayor of the Trifork, they are armed with the finest Shadowmere steel and riding powerful steeds from Drond's fields. Participating in the Kaliphlinite civil war quickly turned this newly formed company into an experienced, battle-hardened force to be reckoned with. Trained to fight both mounted as heavy lancers and dismounted as heavy spearmen, they are effective in both offence and defence. At the same time, Drake is leading a company of Trifork infantry through the southern swamplands to the plains near the southern border of the Trifork and thus Avalonia. Marching across these few miles of open land, an enemy will be able to seek refuge in the hills and mountains making up most of the border between Avalonia and Kaliphlin, through which they can sneak deeper into Avalonia. Raiders often choose this arduous route, rather than to face the obstacle of the fortress city of the Trifork. Drake's objective is to stop enemy reinforcements from making their way to the fight. As the cavalry, the infantry of the Trifork has been hardened by the Kaliphlinite civil war. By reforming the old city watch, Beorthan has created a disciplined, well lead, and well equipped force able to adapt to most situations. Trained by the veterans Marcus and Cassius, they are well-versed in most infantry tactics. ____________________________________________________________ Next instalment in the Aestwäld saga. Further, it is also my entry to the Avalonian Task One, presenting my troops. C&C is, as always, more than welcome. Still looking forward to seeing where this story goes.
  21. Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3a Chapter 3b Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 After having just received a call for aid from Drond's Feelds, Beorthan has mobilised the forces of the Trifork. As they are making their preparations, he has asked his wife Mariana to join him and Drake for a walk through the city. "…therefore, I will head the cavalry to join forces with Lord Alric, and Drake will take the infantry south to stop any forces from moving through our lands. In the meantime, you will handle matters here, Mary." Mariana and Drake both nod, as they follow Beorthan through the narrow canal streets of the lakeside quarter. "However, there are some things we need to discuss before we leave. As you both know, the Trifork has come out of the Kaliphlin civil war stronger than ever. Our economy is booming, and our troops are experienced and battle-hardened. However, we cannot stand alone." As they pass a small bridge, Drake chimes in: "I agree. The situation in Kaliphlin is still uncertain - with the High Council holed up in their cities, and the Desert King already proclaiming his triumph, we have a mess at our borders. Not to talk of the trouble brewing in the Darklands…" Mariana continues with a frown: "Further, the situation amongst our own ranks is shaky at best. With the lords of Avalonia having backed different sides in the war, animosity and distrust has been sparked. The trouble to the south may end up being the least of our problems." Pausing to greet a townsperson passing by, Beorthan agrees: "My analysis is the same, my friends. Therefore, we need to reach out to all and every ally we have. This task will fall upon you, my love - I have no doubt you can handle that, as well as the daily management of the city." Mariana and Beorthan exchange a loving glance. "When you were elected Lord Mayor, I knew these duties would fall upon me in times of need. Things will be taken care of, as I long for your return…" Returning her smile, Beorthan continues with a serious tone: "I want emissaries sent out at speed. Our allies in the High Council must be reassured that the might and wealth of the Trifork will continue to back any decision they may take on Kaliphlinite matters." "I concur. The High Council best represents the interests of the free Kaliphlinite cities, the people, and the merchants; and as such too the interests of the Trifork. Not to mention the atrocities and despotism of the Desert King…" Drake adds. Mariana ponders for a second: "I will send riders to the MacLeans in Eastgate; to Lord Gideon in Barqa; to Lord DaMaximus of Mpya Stedor; and to the pockets of resistance in and around the Nestlands. From there, word can be spread of our continued allegiance." Both Drake and Beorthan nods. "Further, it is imperative that we reestablish diplomatic relations to Lord Vladivus of Shadowmere. He has shown friendship before, and we are not to let down our friends now. Reassure him that having backed different factions in the Kaliphlinite civil war changes nothing. He may count on our alliance and continued support of his resistance in Nocturnus." Mariana seems to be taking mental note of the instruction and nods. "It will be so. Lastly, I will send a messenger to our Lord Regents, Simon of Nalderic and de Gothia of Benoic, expressing our concerns on the current political situation in Avalonia." "I'd suggest we invite them here to discuss the situation in person, the matter being of a somewhat delicate nature…" Drake suggests. "Such will be our agreement. Mylady, you will see to the city, while Drake and I prepare to depart. I shall return to bid you farewell before I leave." ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yet another build for the Aestwäld saga. This is mainly a story build, so forgive me the picture to text ratio - I simply had a lot of things to get done before Beorthan leaves the city to aid Alric. I hope my shameless namedropping will be forgiven - I plan to post builds with the messengers later. (Meaning that the implied VIP's will also see the exact messages sent to them from the Trifork.) C&C is, as always, more than welcome. This collab is turning out to be funnier than I expected!
  22. Graham visits one of the many towers along Reyelan's borders.
  23. Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3a Chapter 3b Chapter 4 It is early morning in the Trifork, and the hustle and bustle of the city is only just beginning as the citizens wake up and begin their daily chores. Beorthan has just arrived at the city hall, and is now standing on the balcony, overlooking the very heart of his lands. From here, he sees a battered and beaten man limping his way towards the entrance of the building. Ordering the guards to let the uniformed man in, he turns on his heels and rushes to the mayors office, calling his friend and second in command, sir William Drake, to join him. In the office, he receives the battered man solemnly with a small bow. "Greetings, sir - May I call for someone to take you to the infirmary?" The man looks up anxiously, his body obviously aching from some incident. "Thank you most kindly, mylord - but first, I must speak my business - it cannot wait!" Beorthan frowns and looks to Drake, then back to the man. "Well, man, if it cannot wait, speak up immediately!" "Of course, mylord! I bring word from Alric, Lord of Drond's Feelds, and in his heart your friend and ally. He most humbly requests the strength of the Trifork to ride to his immediate aid..." Drake raises a brow, and gives Beorthan a significant look. "We too regard Alric and Drond's Feelds as our friends and allies. But what troubles have led him to seek our help? And what happened to you?" Still somewhat breathless from the strain of his travels, the messenger stops to collect his thoughts before speaking. "I was beset upon by an unseen enemy, setting a trap for my mount. I have been running here with all my speed. You must react quickly, as I am already delayed too long!" Beorthan motions to the man to calm down. "We shall ride out within the day, if only you will let me know to what end!" The messenger looks down in despair. "I... I have lost the message as I was ambushed... but..." "Yes?!" "An unknown enemy has raided our southern villages mercilessly. They have come from the east... in great number..." Looking to the maps, Beorthan seems alarmed. "From the East? They must have come through my lands... 'Tis unacceptable!" "But sir... There is more... They have taken lord Alric's wife... Your niece..." Narrowing his eyes, Beorthan's resolve seems to grow - he turns to Drake. "William, I want you to take a company of infantry south. We must block our enemy from getting reinforcements." Turning to the messenger: "You will be escorted to the infirmary, and if you are up to it, I shall ask you to ride out with me, as our guide. We shall be leading the cavalry." "Thank you, sirs. Lord Alric will consider himself in your debt." The messenger bows as best he can, before being helped out of the office by a guard. ________________________________________________________________ My humble addition to TitusV's Aestwäld Saga - We Avalonians can also do collabs! You may consider the first picture a teaser for a large build (my largest so far ) of the main plaza of the Trifork, which you will see whenever I 1) get it finished 2) figure out how to photograph it. As always, c&c is welcome. Hope you like it.
