That motor brick is awesome! It'll have to be the new micromotor. I just hope it can work in both directions.

A hardware store, how novel! I think you need to lift the ceiling (and the roof) a little higher to give it more space inside. The yellow is really striking, but it needs a contrast colour to balance it - I assume you have a brand name to attach to it. I'd also change the side the door swings open. Keep it up "LT"!

Your town looks great (despite the lack of a train), with heaps of detail and great original creations. I especially love the continuous waterfront that naturally curves around the table. Placing various buildings at an arbitrary angle also looks great, it really goes against the grid. My only suggestion would be to invest in some more foliage, whether it be standard Lego trees or brick built creations. Nature strips with trees and bushes would really break up the monotony of the unadorned grey road baseplates.

I think it looks great. I can understand the disappointment from some of the readers here, as the set will not make a very good parts pack. The parts are very specific to the train it makes. That said, the uncompromising design has made a very good rendition of the iconic train in its famous colour scheme of black on orange. I'm also pleased they made it an engine car with two carriages, not one carriage with two engines. It works great, it's easier to expand the train without wastage and it encourages customers to buy two - a trend I hope they continue in the future.

Great little ship, the curves look natural and the extended pods are clever. I'm not sure I'd use a white ship for the polar extremes though, it'd be too easy to lose it!

One problem I can see with the brick built track is that it is very parts intensive. Even a small circle uses hundreds of heavy bricks, even if it is not elevated. Stressing the parts to make the curve would also not pass the internal review.

Now that is how the Haunted House should be presented! It looks great lifted higher on a hill. The spiral stairs look great up to the side door too. Nice town all round, with interesting use of Market Street.

Could still be a corner building similar to this one.

Really nice scene and the details are simple but stunning. Nicely colour coordinated with the banners, it looks very posh. I have to agree though that the floor would have been better tiled, it reminds me of cheap office carpet. Tiles (or SNOT) would also reflect the vertical details too. Your custom figs are great, you must have a steady hand!

What's the least important aspect of you of Lego?
pinioncorp replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have to agree with many of the posts offered above, they're all valid. I don't play with my models, and while I do keep my boxes, it's more for resell value should I ever come on hard times. I do hate stickers though, I tend not to apply them. One that I have to add (that I believe I will cop some flak for) is Minifigures. I really don't care that much for them. Don't get me wrong, you need them to set the scale and they can't all be the same, but I'd rather the standard smiley on my minifgures than all these expressions. They're to complement what I've made, not overpower it. Lego used to be a lot simpler without all these different accessories for my dudes. -
Should Friends have it's own Sub-Forum?
pinioncorp replied to LegoCityMann's topic in Forum Information and Help
I think it should be separated as well, either a sub forum or its own forum, doesn't matter. As it is now, not all Friends themed MOCs are Town related, and it would stop the mix of Friends posts in the other forums. I'll just add that I like Friends, but they are different to the system themes. -
I can't help but feel the desk is a little too high. It's at practically shoulder height, can you imagine using that?!? Nice little set otherwise, but there's not much room to put it in her house if you have it.

Looks great! The use of the Medium wheels works well to keep it in proportion. Any chance of a video of it in action?

MOD: 3 x Double Powered Maersk Locomotives
pinioncorp replied to LegoSjaak's topic in LEGO Train Tech
It is possible to fit a switch in the locomotive without any aesthetic changes. It would be considerably easier to control if both motors ran from the same channel, as opposed to having to control both dials on the remote. -
Very nice layout! Very detailed with lots to see. I do fear however, that most of it would be lost by having the barricades so far away.

That is a standard old 9V train wheel set minus the holder (The old ones are metal through the wheel, the new ones are plastic wheels that attach to the metal axle but are therefore removable) with a non Lego metal tube around it to both increase it's size and to act as a smooth rolling bearing. More infomation can be found in these instructions by Cale Leiphart.

Very cute! It's difficult to put all the power functions components onto a single motor, nicely done with the battery. You can also fit the decorative sides to the motor to hide the wheels accurately. I do think it looks a little tall for its length, can you shorten its height at all? The other thing you could do to offset this look is to only connect one axle to the motor, the other wheel could just float behind the motor. That would allow you to lower the battery between the wheels and therefore the whole base by making it a little bit longer. Good to see power functions used effectively in such a small space. [edit: spelling]

Better size and detail, absolutely, but I think it still really needs a proper deck. Even if below isn't minifig height, it really adds to the model if it has a proper flat surface to display dudes on.

Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores
pinioncorp replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I've got half. I ordered four sets, three were sent in one box, one in another. I've recieved the group of three, but are yet to see the last. -
Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
pinioncorp replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
[rant]I went to my local BigWhoop to pick up an SSD at midnight, but when I got in I was told they'd already sold them all as online purchases. Pretty annoyed at this point, I asked if they could reserve one at another store. "No", I was told, "but you can go to Eastland, they have plenty". So I drove all the way over to Eastland only to be told they too don't have any left. Very unhappy with the service.[/rant] Damn, that wasn't very rantworthy language. A friend managed to pick me up one fortunately, but otherwise I'd be fuming. -
The shape is quite good, obviously you need to work on the rods, but the overall dimensions look right. I do think that the colours are in need of work - there's too much going on. Replacing the green for black would merge the components a bit better, hiding connectors that are currently visible in grey. The red would look better if it continued under the boiler as the footplate too. Definitely a good start, it has a lot of potential.

No Success Getting 9468 Vampyre Castle Online Instructions
pinioncorp replied to DLuders's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm sorry, are not printed building instructions included in the box? Why do you need online instructions? There is a distinct lack of background to this post. The LEGO Group provides these instructions for convenience, not because of any regulations - if you have not bought the set then you are not obliged to have them anyway. The set is still relatively new (last few months) so expecting them to be up to date with all their most recent offerings is a bit far fetched if you ask me. If you really want the instructions so badly, buy the set. Don't be abusive to customer service staff that no doubt have no control over the situation anyway. -
Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores

I have to get one of those. I'd only need a counter for one digit. Great prices from Barnes and Noble, thanks for that guys. -

A friend of mine went to Myer (Chadstone for those of you playing at home) looking for the exclusives and while he was there one of the staff came out saying that the stock on the shelves wasn't for sale until the major sale next month, and she took them off the customers who had them in their trolleys! Poor customer service if you ask me. Myer Knox was happy to sell me three Helm's Deeps though.
