  1. Alright, thank you. I found a lot of similar stuff for NXT, just nothing for the new brick yet. Guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it!
  2. I'd be interested I tried a little last night and just ended up with a steering mechanism pointed down at a 45° angle. A little steering and a little tilt lol
  3. I actually have a question about the EV3 programming. I bought the education set. Is there any way I can use something like Java to program the brick, or am I stuck with the snap-blocks? I'd like to try and get some more advanced programs running (especially as I'm not the best builder yet). At first glance it doesn't seem like it'd be easy to do stuff like mapping out the layout of rooms.

[Moc] PTC: Fascinating new ways to lose weight

I'd be interested in seeing it with white tiles behind the red vents too. Very cool either way!
  5. This is really nice work. It's easily some of the most impressive stuff I've come across. Cuusoo that shit up!
  6. How do the EV3 Large Servo and Medium motors compare to other Technic Power Functions? I'm pretty impressed with the EV3 motors' control and accuracy, but I've never owned any others. Are there any disadvantages to them? Are they going to be just as good for applications such as crawlers or fast vehicles?
  7. I think I just became a data logger myself edit: oops I'll repost links for the new page.
  8. Thanks for the gyro sensor help back on page 12. I'm going to rebuild Gyro Boy again when I can and probably even get it to work this time! If you program a Motor Sensor and a Play Note to loop, wiring the rotation of the motor to the frequency of a note repeating every .01 seconds, you get an awesome sound as your vehicles speeds off that sounds exactly like the GI Joe jet toy I had as a kid! Keep the volume under 10 though Just turn on the motor while this is running, and make sure that final Note setting is on 2!
  9. Thank you for the overnight replies. I have been checking the sensor. It reads about 8-10 degrees forward lean while Gyro Boy is on the support stand, but I thought this would be normal as it's a pretty tight build. I've also tried dozens of times with the "hand holding" method and he doesn't seem to like that either. Oh well, I'll keep trying for a while but I'll probably just revisit Gyro Boy in a few weeks. I also have another random question Will the ultra-sonic sensor mess with my dog? They pick up frequencies up to I think 67,000 Hz, and I don't want to terrorize her with it. It's hard to tell myself because she's already skittish around stuff like this.
  10. Anyone pieced together the extra EV3 models from the education core set? I just built Gyro Boy and it doesn't work! It keeps accelerating backwards too quickly and either face-planting outright or taking the support stand under its wheels. Anyone tackled similar problems yet? Any other videos I see of Gyro Boy, and there aren't many yet, show him acting very differently. I downloaded the program directly to my EV3 brick and all the parts/wires are in the right spots.

    Community MOC Challenges

I have an idea based on something I always did as a little Star Wars nerd growing up. The movies gave us the A-wing, B-wing, X-wing, and Y-wing. Well what about all the other letters? I'd sit in class and draw a little starfighter in the shape of every letter in the alphabet. Now I know they messed up with the B-wing and it doesn't much resemble the actual letter, but the rest of them mostly should!
