    Which set should I buy?

I've got a "15% Off" coupon for Toys R Us, and I'm not sure which set to use it on. The high prices at TRU drive me crazy, but I want to get one of the larger Star Wars sets, in order to maximize the saving. Which set should I get? 7962 Podracers set 7964 Republic Frigate 7965 Millenium Falcon I already have the 4504 MF from 2004. I already have 7665 Republic Cruiser. And I'm pretty "meh" about the podracers, but want the minifigs. Or should I just forget all of those and get the 7961 Sith Infiltrator, even though it's already overpriced before I even have to pay the TRU mark-up?

    What did you buy today?

Stopped by Target on my lunch hour and picked up 8080 Undersea Explorer for $29.99 and the Ninjago polybag set. Checked the clearance aisle and found two LEGO game sets, 3836 Magikus for $2.62 and 3837 Monster 4 for $3.24 ... prices that were too good to pass up.
  5. A little off-topic, but I'm quoting from the article. That statement begs for a contest -- what can you build with your 62 bricks?

  7. Thanks for letting us all know about this program! I've never heard of it; but just spent the last couple of hours messing around on it and it's great. I'll be using it quite often.

    Best Theme Ever?

It's hard to say. There may be themes I don't really care for, but within the theme is an outstanding set that I absolutely love. But since I have to pick, then based on a monetary scale alone I find Star Wars to be the best theme ever, since it has received most of my hard earned money.

    Review: 7597 Western Train Chase

I finally got around to picking up this set. It's only the 2nd LEGO train I've ever built, and I gotta say I really like it. I understand the criticism about the engine being so fragile, but I finally got it put together and was very happy to see it fits on LEGO train tracks (I bought the new train station at the same time). Does anybody know if anyone has managed to fit it with RC or PF to make it chug along? I was hoping to use it around the Christmas tree this December.
  10. Everything's gone now. Thanks for the great trades!
  11. Looking for U.S. trades... All of my minifigs are still sealed in their bags, and I'd like any minifig I receive still sealed in its bag. I have for trading: Series 2 Traffic Cop (x5) Karate Champion (x2) Mime (x1) Pharaoh (x2) Ringmaster (x2) Surfer (x2) (PENDING) Vampire (x1) Witch (x4) My wants: Series 1 Cheerleader Deep Sea Diver (PENDING) Nurse <--priority Robot Space Man Series 2 Disco Dancer Skier (multiple) <-- priority (1 Pending, need more) Thanks for looking; if we can help each other out shoot me a PM, or email me at brhamaker AT yahoo DOT com
  12. I have an unopened 10182 Cafe Corner that I have been holding onto for over a year. I had intended to build a great town set, but decided I didn't really have the room or the inclination to start delving into the City sets. So now, I'd like to offer it up for a trade. What I'm hoping to get in return is a 10123 Cloud City. The set can be opened, but it needs to be complete with all of the mini-figures and instructions, original parts, and stickers unapplied. If there are no takers, then I'd be willing to work out another trade. Some other Star Wars sets that I need include: 7153 Jango Fett's Slave I 4501 Mos Eisley Cantina 7166 Trade Federation AAT 7255 General Grievous Chase 7163 Republic Gunship 4482 AT-TE 7260 Wookiee Catamaran ...again, sets can be opened, but they need to be complete with all mini-figures and instructions, original parts and stickers unapplied. Other sets I have for trading include (all are unopened unless noted): 4956 House 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer 6253 Shipwreck Hideout 7199 Temple of Doom 7699 MT-101 Armored Drilling Unit 7674 V-19 Torrent 7898 Cargo Train Deluxe 10199 Winter Toy Shop 10185 Green Grocer - opened & built once, but 100% complete w/box & instructions. Pieces stored in zip-loc bags. I'm looking only for trade opportunities. Please do not offer to sell sets to me. Trades are open only to folks with a U.S. mailing address. Unfortunately, I do not have the patience for international shipping -- the wait and the problems. I do not have any feedback here on Eurobricks, but I've been buying/selling for a number of years on eBay and have outstanding feedback (over 130 transactions in the last 12 months w/ 100% feedback). My eBay ID is the same as my EB username: bamaker. I also have a little bit of feeback, all good, on Rebelscum, a Star Wars collectors website -- I can provide a link to my feedback thread there if needed. Thanks for looking and please PM me if interested.
  13. Thanks for the replies guys, but I actually sold the 10182 in early August. I wish some of y'all had seen my post in early June -- didn't get any responses back then and figured it had just disappeared into the older topics in the BSTF forum. I guess this topic needs to be locked.

    What did you buy today?

    What did you buy today?

Haven't posted in a while, but over the past couple of weeks I picked up 8086 Droid Tri-Fighter on sale for $20 USD. I also bought the 3843 Ramses Pyramid game for me and the kids to play -- was not impressed and probably won't get anymore of the game sets. From eBay, I finally was able to get 8274 TECHNIC Combine Harvester for a reasonable price ... $65.00 USD, which is less than the original MSRP. I'm not a technic fan, but I used to drive a combine every summer on my grandparents farm in Oklahoma. Wanted to get it to go with the 7636 Combine Harvester I picked up last year.

    2010 FIFA World Cup

A tie would not have gotten them in to the Round of 16. And the other disallowed goal came against Slovenia with the phantom call that went against US and wiped out Edu's goal. Today's games were all good games. US and England are advancing and deservedly so, as they were the only two teams in the group to accomplish what mattered in order to advance. That being said, Algeria and Slovenia have nothing to be ashamed of; they showed they can hang with the big boys.

LEGO Star Wars 2010 Pictures and Rumors

Eichorn, welcome to EB. That pic was actually already posted earlier today, and someone's already zoomed in and estimated the cockpit windshield to be 12 studs long. To be honest, I'm a little underwhelmed with these 3 sets. The shuttle is just going to be too big. I'm all for realism and accuracy, but it comes to a point that it's being big just for the sake of being big. The system-scale models are perfectly fine, and satisfy the warm, fuzzy feeling that playing with LEGO brings. This new shuttle (and the UCS Falcon, too) is just so huge, that it's only good for displaying. If I wanted a hyper-realistic looking model, I'd rather spend the funds on a higher-end collectible. That being said, I admit there's a market for these large sets among LEGO enthusiast; just not for me. I'm taking this one off my shopping list for 2010. Ironically, after my rant about the large size of the Shuttle, I feel the AT-AT is too small. Though I'll probably end up getting it anyway -- I have a soft spot for AT-ATs I'm staying away from the ISD -- trying to avoid double-dipping in the midi-scale sets.

    KielDaMan's JSF Collection

Outstanding collection of JSFs you've made there KielDaMan -- If I had to pick a favorite, it would be Kit's fighter. I like the lime green color. It really helps it stand out from all of the red/white republic colors. You obviously have a great base model that you can work from to create many more JSFs. I do have a question about the details on Ahsoka's fighter. If you look at these two pictures, the white starburst pattern is different. It's noticeable looking at the studs to the front of the plate surrounding the astromech's dome - what happened?

LEGO Star Wars 2010 Pictures and Rumors

Ooh, this possibility hadn't occurred to me, but I like it. I'm always in favor of Star Wars sets that also provide some sort of environment for the minifigures to interact in, and I would definitely pick it up. I passed on the UCS Millenium Falcon as it was just too big & cumbersome. I'd probably pass on a 3'-tall Imperial Shuttle, too.

    Set's or fig's?

I've been thinking about the LEGO purchases I've made, and I don't think I've ever purchased a set just for the minifigures. The Battle Packs are the only exception I can think of, but don't really count for this discussion as the minifigures are the purpose of those sets. That being said, the minifigures are still an extremely important aspect of the set. I have passed on sets before because the minifigures didn't excite me (7680 The Twilight for example). And due to the absence of minifigures the Creator sets don't give me the same rush as the System-scale sets. The new Slave I is really bothering me. I love the 6209 version from a few years back, but the minifigures in the new set are great. I don't need the new Slave I, but I want the minifigures. However, I don't have the financial freedom to be paying $70 for 3 minifigures! I'll keep my fingers crossed for a magnet set, but this will end up being a wait-for-the-sale purchase from me. edit: I didn't even see your comments Lord Arjay before I posted, but it sounds like we have similar thoughts on this matter
