    Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Same, it doesn't seem like Reed with facial hair. Krasinski's version worked because it was the modern Reed but this is the classic Reed. And an older man like him in the 60s, who was more traditional and old school, would not have facial hair. If they're making this a period film, they should at least have the characters match the aesthetics like they're doing with Sue and her hair.

I would have liked a deer and tortoise as well. The tortoise is the most distinctive of her forest animal friends and used for several gags. Plus as you said, we don't have a tortoise mold as of yet. There actually is a deer mold if you count Bambi. For the rabbits, it would have been nice to get some in beige since the ones in the movie are all beige, not white. I'm surprised we don't have any chipmunk molds so far. If there was a GWP for this set, we would have heard about it by now right? You're right that Goofy in the yellow vest with a patch on his pants is based off of how he looks in the Disney Parks. The blue vested Goofy with no patch on his pants is how he looks in the animation and sadly we haven't gotten a minifig for that beyond the keychain figure. Tbh, I wouldn't want to waste a CMF slot for a nearly identical Goofy but with slightly different colors. I'd rather see this Goofy variant in one of the Mickey and Friends sets but does Lego even make those anymore? Our best bet would be for him to show up in a set like the Celebration Train from last year. Speaking of park minifigures vs animation minifigures, Chip 'n' Dale are also good examples of characters whose minifigs are clearly based off of the parks since they're full-sized walk-around characters. I'm surprised Pluto never got one similar to them as a full-scale minifigure. Donald is an interesting case because his park look is more explicitly based on his sailor outfit from how he looked in his early shorts. Yet, we only ever got a minifigure for him based on his animation look. They reused his CMF minifigure for the Disney Castle even though they took the extra effort of giving Mickey, Minnie, and Daisy new minifigures that match their parks looks. I wonder why they just reused animation Donald and didn't give him his park look as well. Personally I prefer the specialized head molds for the non-human characters like Mickey and his friends, the Pooh characters, and Stitch. I wouldn't need to see characters like the Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook, or Jafar get specialized heads even though in the Disney Parks they do wear masks so they can more specifically resemble their animated counterparts.

Official reveal for the Snow White set is being reported as coming soon There's also a new pic of the cottage from a top left angle giving us a better view of the cottage's left side. Looks like the witch is coming with a yellow basket for her apple. The color and shape aren't very accurate to the movie though. The rubber basket that the Red Riding Hood CMF minifigure comes with seems a better fit and what I've been using.

Oh okay, that is intriguing. Hopefully it pans out somehow for the Deadpool fans. I'm not personally a fan of him but I would like to see some of the X-Men characters who are likely to show up in the movie or some of the non-X-Men characters too, like Elektra.

What old comments were those? That we should expect something Deadpool related? The best I can think of is what you suggested that we get something Wolverine related that also features Deadpool. speaking of Firestar, I was very disappointed in her minifigure. Feels very incomplete without leg printing for her trademark red boots.

That's awfully presumptuous of Lego lol. I'll also be holding off until I see the final set and if there are minifigs or not. For the price, I doubt we'll be getting all five of the main characters and it might almost be more annoying if we only get two minfigs and can't have the complete set of emotions. Rivendell released on March 5th but was officially confirmed on February 7th. Snow White's general release was February 4th, 1938, so they should have announced the set on that day imo.

Could it be Narnia? But I'm pretty sure that show is still early in development. Maybe Avatar the Last Airbender?

Doubtful. Her look is completely different in Wicked starting with her being blonde and wearing skimpier clothing. Also they can't use the MGM movie for reference so none of the characters can look identical to how they looked in the original. Disney ran into the same issue with Oz the Great and Powerful. They couldn't even use the exact shade of green for the witch's skin so they made her coloring more olive.

Glinda definitely needs the wide skirt. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of giving Madam Pince's hat to the Wicked Witch so she can have hair as well. A pity the shape of the hat isn't as accurate for her. Glad to see the Target set has a release date. I guess that means we could get Belle the earliest in October. TNBC has never been a favorite of mine but what I loved about the Ideas set was that it basically gave us the entire town in one set. I've always liked comprehensive sets like this one, plus the new leaked Dungeons and Dragons set, so I think I'll definitely be getting it. The large piece count is indeed promising and hopefully means we'll get as many characters as possible. Besides Zero and Oogie Boogie that you mentioned, I'd love to see the Mayor of Halloweentown as well, since none of these three were part of the approved design. Speaking of the D&D set, this is exactly what I'd like to see for a future Disney set. Something like a diorama featuring the major locations from a Disney film all together in one set like you're holding that movie's kingdom in your hand (or on your shelf anyway). There were some great Lego Ideas submissions like that for Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland. And if Disney still had the Narnia rights, I would have loved to have seen those movies get sets but sadly by the time Lego started making Disney sets in the late 2000s/early 2010s, they had lost Narnia.

Never played the game or watched the movies but this set truly looks incredible, like a little diorama encapsulating what I imagine is a little bit of everything D&D is known for

Barad-dur will be an uphill battle I think. I'm already seeing comments online that people are not as interested in that as they were in Rivendell. Since they have more attachment to Rivendell as it features in all three films as a significant setting hosting more or less all the major characters unlike Barad-dur. Plus Rivendell being more scenic and beautiful to display whereas people are saying Barad-dur is just one big black tower that's rather bland in comparison. If the Barad-dur set feels more stripped down, I think that will hurt it in the long run. I'm glad Snow White is getting the respect it deserves by Lego especially since Disney themselves rarely show it respect these days, even mocking it in bonus features for their new films. Let's hope Sleeping Beauty gets the same treatment by Lego but the piece count makes me think otherwise. And here I was hoping that Flora, Fauna, Merryweather and maybe a sleeping Aurora in a blue dress could be added as minifigs as well. Snow White getting this respect (even if it's after its anniversary and Disney's 100th anniversary) makes me wish WB had done something similar for a Lego Wizard of Oz set since WB also had its 100th anniversary last year. Wizard of Oz sets were teased around the time of the CMF series that gave us Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion but nothing ever came of that. Would have loved to see a definitive Oz set whether it's the Emerald City or Munchkinland alongside a minifigure of Glinda. Considering how popular Oz still is and how much merchandise for the classic movie still sells, I'm surprised Lego hasn't gone this route yet.

I looked it up, yeah, it's basically a blue version of her movie dress. Fleur's dress is a little too simple for me. The silvery gray color looks nice on her but for a Parisian girl (especially the English idea of a Parisian girl), it seems very basic and unadorned. The Patil twins had the worst dresses imo, simply garish. Even the twins' actresses have gone on record and said the clothes were awful and they hated them. But Afshan Azad, who played Padma, did say she understood that the costume designers needed to underplay everyone else in order for Hermione's dress to stand out. In Jim Kay's illustrated editions of Harry Potter, we do see a completely different take on Hermione's blue dress which looks more like wizarding robes than a gown. And in the book, I think they were all supposed to be dressed in robes anyway. https://i0.wp.com/blogs.princeton.edu/cotsen/wp-content/uploads/sites/88/2021/05/krum-hermione-ball.jpg?ssl=1

I wonder if that's just lighting though because it can also come across as indigo and even Alan Rickman's hair has tinges of the same color. It's hard to tell especially in the later HP movies where everything is so dark and gray and you can barely see any color (especially thinking of HBP). At least they didn't bring back the glow-in-the-dark skin for Snape. That's a great idea to include some Durmstrang minifigs, even if they're just representing generic students. And I agree, I was never a fan of Hermione's pink dress, from the color to the overall design. Emma Watson seems to be a curse when it comes to movie dresses because the Belle dress from BATB is even more terrible to the point that I almost miss Hermione's Yule Ball dress in comparison.

    Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Disney+ has definitely trained audiences to not bother watching their movies in theaters and wait for them to stream for free. It's partly why last year all of their films failed minus GOTG Vol 3. So much for Disney's 100th anniversary. That being said, some of those films which failed were original IPs which audiences have no connections to that would induce them to go to the theater and pay to see. The children who keep streaming Moana year after year are the target audience for the sequel and will probably tell their parents they want to watch this film when they see trailers and advertising. So I guess it comes down to how many of those families will bother to go and how many will just wait at home for the Disney+ release. Another factor is that many families have lost trust in Disney, which has been evident in their last few animated movies flopping, so I do know that some don't even feel it's safe to take their kids to watch a Disney movie anymore and others wait to stream it themselves before showing it to their children. Bob Iger, the hack himself, admitted that this was a mistake on Disney's part so we'll see if they can win back audience trust or if they've lost it for good. The Maleficent set having a lower piece count worries me a little. I don't think Wicked is that big of a threat, certainly not in the vein of Harry Potter. Movie musicals seem to be a hit or miss these days and much of the hype for a Wicked film was in the last decade. The decision to split it into two movies has also been controversial because audiences can see it's a blatant cash grab.

I looked those up and they're neat looking. It would work really well for any characters who wear robes, whether wizards or monks. Looking at it closer, I think it's just his usual costume minus the cloak. Which Lego doesn't even give him anymore in the form of a cape, so the current Snape minifigure is more or less what his Yule Ball wear would look like. The one thing I never understood is why all the Snape minifigs have purple because I've never seen any pics of his costumes from the movie that even remotely look purple. Navy blue maybe but not purple.

What I remember reading about the Tangled sequel, because I can't find the link now, is that it was considered after the original movie's success because although it was the most expensive movie of all time when it debuted, it was also Disney's biggest hit since Tarzan more than a decade prior (Dinosaur and Chicken Little were box office successes but critical failures and while Lilo & Stitch was a success, it was a smaller film so a smaller hit). But when there was no story for a sequel, that's how it ended up as a TV series instead. Is there an estimated release date for that Target Ideas set? There's also the Inside Out 2 set although it looks like we may not get any minifigs for that.

    Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

It seems like after every film of theirs flopped last year, minus GOTG Vol. 3, they're desperate for a surefire hit so they just took their Moana streaming show and packaged the episodes together into a film. Apparently the animation wasn't even done at Disney but was sent out to another studio in Vancouver because it was never meant to be a feature film. I don't think it's a coincidence that this has been announced after Wish was one of their biggest flops and their previous animated film scheduled for 2024 has been delayed if not cancelled. It's not just Moana's sequel, they've also announced dates for Frozen 3 and Zootopia 2. And keep in mind that a few months back they also confirmed that Frozen 4 is in the works as well. Disney is in dire straits so they're doubling down on sequels to their hits, the same way Toy Story 5 was announced after Pixar's films started flopping/underperforming. Word on the street is they're trying to get Brad Bird back for Incredibles 3. In theaters it only made as much as Big Hero 6 did, around $600 million and was eclipsed by the earlier release of Zootopia which was their $1 billion film. 2016 was a very lucrative year for Disney between Rogue One, Finding Dory, Captain America: Civil War, Zootopia, and The Jungle Book, which were the top five grossing movies of the year and all billion dollar hits (or in Jungle Book's case, very close to a billion). So Moana got lost that year amongst Disney's releases but as pointed out, it's been a streaming favorite. For the last few years, it's always been in the top ten most streamed movies, usually at the top or #1. Even the first Frozen doesn't rank as high as Moana, especially after Frozen II came and went and sorta damaged the brand despite its box office success. Frozen merchandise, while still popular, also isn't selling as well as it used to especially when it comes to merchandise from the second movie. The funny thing about Moana is that while it's one of the most streamed movies and I hear stories all the time about how popular it is with young children who rewatch it over and over, I don't think it's a huge merchandise seller. It sells enough to make Moana be included in the Disney Princess franchise, but she's not a top selling princess like Rapunzel who is one of the most popular princesses in terms of merchandise but her film isn't as popular as Frozen or Moana. There were brief talks for a Tangled sequel but Disney claimed they couldn't figure out a story of what to do next.

That's true, Harry and Ron variants would be perfect with their jackets off. Agreed about the professors. McGonagall's sleeves were distinctive but I don't know how they would translate in Lego form. Snape had a slightly different outfit as well that could work for a new minifigure.

If they did redo the Yule Ball, there are still several characters we could get in their formal outfits. Like Ginny, Draco, Neville, Karkaroff. Not to mention Fleur's date, Roger Davies. Also a new Cho with a more accurate skin tone.

The wash basin comes to mind since there's a whole song featuring that. Luckily that's an easy make. I was looking up racoons as well. The friends one is way too cartoony. The baby Rocket Raccoon seems like it would fit in better and it's also a more accurate color being brown. Only thing is it doesn't have a white/light gray face like the ones from the movie. It's too bad we didn't get Meeko with Pocahontas. I agree, I wish they had included that. Especially since the staircase in the movie isn't just ornamental but has an entire scene set on the stairs as the dwarfs are afraid of going up to see the "monster" sleeping in their beds. I've noticed Lego doesn't include staircases as often now in their playsets, which is a pity, since it takes away from the dollhouse experience. The Up house has the same problem with no stairs.

There's a brown squirrel as well. It's neat that they remembered the spider to use for the empty attic space. It doesn't look like there was room to feature all seven beds though which is a shame. Also is it just me or is the dining table right in front of the door which seems like odd placement? I do like that the fireplace will use a light-up brick. I'm curious what's in the room, behind the window and Doc inspecting jewels, featuring Snow White and Bashful. Maybe the sink or kitchen area where Snow White bakes a pie. Or maybe Grumpy's piano is set up there since it looks like Snow White and Bashful could be dancing like in The Silly Song.

    Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I know people were happy that the Up house was smaller and more affordable, and while that was part of its charm, I have to admit I would have preferred a larger, more expensive version just because the Up house we did get felt incomplete. It wasn't just the lack of Ellie or Kevin (or even child versions of Carl and Ellie), but the fact that so many important parts of the house were missing. Ellie's chair is so significant, especially considering the last scene of the movie, but it was omitted entirely. The mailbox lacked the handprints. Even the staircase with the stair lift that Carl uses to get up and down everyday was something I was expecting. And that's not even mentioning all the extra balloons people wanted. So I'm glad with the Snow White cottage, that we're getting one definitive version rather than a scaled down version which would have left only hopes or recriminations for a more complete set later in the future. Based on how discounted the clamshell set is, I'm sure Lego is seeing that it was a set that didn't pay off. I'm still guessing that wasn't Lego's call as much as Disney's. I know the Up house was a bestseller (and got a lot of attention online as well) and I think the Winnie the Pooh and Villain Icons sets were too, so I'm expecting the cottage to be as well received as those sets. My guess is that the moment they decided to include the coffin, they had to include Prince Florian. The coffin scene doesn't really work without him. It probably also helps that both the prince and witch are currently still being produced for sets on shelves so it was easy enough to throw them in there without having to rely on new molds like with the dwarfs. Maybe the Huntsman can show up in a future CMF series. Perhaps with Snow White in her rags. If they ever did a Villains Icons set but with the henchmen of the main villains (like Mr. Smee, Horace and Jasper, LeFou, the King of Hearts, etc.) they could include him there.

That makes sense. The two Simbas confused me as well. This year is the anniversary for The Lion King and Sleeping Beauty so that might explain the extra focus on both films getting multiple sets each.

Isn't the Maleficent set being reported with a much smaller piece count according to several leakers?
