  1. According to my own comprehension, the model will feature - a collective control that act on the pitch angle of the 5 blades simultaneously controled by a lever as on the 9396 set - another joystic that will tilt the entire rotor as whe had on the 8412 set. So in summary we will have the functions of the 8412 + 9396. This seems to be a good combo even if not accurate vs real life machines. The true question is : will these new parts allow to build/mod it right? EDIT: there is no need of any new parts to acheive this setup ;)
  2. hi! cool project and quiet good approach so far. You absolutely need this parts: BrickLink - Part 2906 : LEGO Technic Propeller 4 Blade 7 Stud Diameter with Square Ends [Technic] - BrickLink Reference Catalog BrickLink - Part 2908 : LEGO Technic Helicopter Rotor Holder [Technic] - BrickLink Reference Catalog BrickLink - Part 2907 : LEGO Technic Ball with Grooves [Technic] - BrickLink Reference Catalog This will make it really more easy. Appart of this, the flight command itself are challenging and the major thing to solve in your case will be to allow independant movement of the collective and cyclics parts. Maybe can you check my two main models? @Ivan_M makes cool and clear instruction for them. Here: LEGO MOC AW 169 Helicopter by Ivan_M | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO And here: LEGO MOC AH-77 Hunter helicopter by Ivan_M | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO Instructions are for free ;) For a very compact but yet functionnal solutions with both collective and cyclic i have done this a few years ago: I hope this could help you Steph.
  3. First of all, TLG did never released a proper rotor on any helicopter they released. The main reason for it, i think, is that these fonctions are propely ununderstandable for the not aware peoples. This thing is so complex to build and the functionals aspects are so trikky that most of the 'global people' will probably build it without understanding anything at it. On a side note, The one and only way to acheive a proper collective and cyclic restitution is to produce new parts. - New rotor mast - New swashplate - New rotor head supports. Without these parts it will be impossible to assure the toy's safety. All my own helicopter are based on a simple axle as mast and the rotorhead's fixation may be dangerous if not used proprely. TLG will never accept this situation, and they are right. So, reading the iconic 5 blades rotor will be translate int the model, i have some (little) hope that they will invest in new parts. But more likely, the only comprehensive function will be translated into the model -> simple collective lever has previous model has. S.
  4. I'll need to buy some of the parts (buwizz) but i will build this marvelous model! GREAT job man!
  5. This model is in dark azure, quiet rare parts in my inventory that i never used before this one True! Thanks for your kind comments!
  6. Hi all after being for a time out of lego's sphere, i am back with my last project for this year. HARLEY DAVIDSON ELECTRA-GLIDE 1969 This project is all about design, no gearbox, no clutch, nothing of that all, but one iconic function beeing translated into the lego model: the iconic sound of a Harley Davidson. After hours of search on the net, i look closely at some rebuild vids of real HD engines and i foud a way to reproduce the claping of the admission valves wich are at the source of this typic soud. For those who have no real idea of what is better in lego : or a regular engine bloc or a fake engine as many of the set have today, this one got both of them! One 2-cylinders block wit a secondary shaft acting two valves based on the new simplified mount we know today. But first have a look at the global views of this build: First lookaround of it: a hardtail frame only build out of axles and connectors to fit as well as possible the original design: As you can see this model has also a windshild made out of a no lego plastic sheet. Quiet simple to do yet. Let's have a look at the engine: On this picture you can see the auxilliary crankshaft acting the admission valves: The model features also front suspensions, direction with a narrow turning radius, two sidebags that are openables: And also a adjustable front windshild that can be tilted with a proprer command: So this will be my last model for this year, i hope you'll enjoy it. PS i add a lot of details everywher i found it was possible. Even my katana gets it's own rear view mirror:
  7. Hi, back to the topic, Can you check that all the grey 16T tthose who comlbine with clutch gear) are placed in the right orientation? It seems to me that one clutch can not be engaged due to a misoriention of one of them. Steph.
  8. This wasn't exactly my point. I am ok with a 3+N gearbox, as building a 6+n is likely impossible, and maybe not that usefull. I am not OK for the overpricing on a set if the design doesn't offer something really worth it. And i cannot see any good reason to release a that big set. It appeared to be even not playable for me.
  9. Exactly the same. When you think that a 4speeds can stand in this volume...Ok, it is not one inline 4, but i got this feeling that 'making it big makes it good.' is the new lego guideline....
  10. This kind of build is a bit challenging. IMHO the fact you need to check all along the build that each gear or system works flawlessly is a integrate part of the build. Maybe that the fact to build it in a rush so review is out in time is a reasonnable reason to this issue. PS: I am surprised that lego use regular bush against the free16T wheels. I always use 1L spacer with no friction to ensure there will be any stress on moving parts.
  11. Good question i am not really sure about that. These parts are quiet old and not still in perfect state actually...
  12. Thanks for this review. Just one thing: The part 6575 exist from the early 90's in this color. I own some 6 of them. Technic Cam, in Light Bluish Gray Part 6575, has never been released in this color. We got 15 pieces in this set.
  13. It is 100% normal. Look at the real bike and you will find that the proportions are perfect. Ducati disk brake to the rear new larger one to the front.
  14. Just looking at the entries of the last contest and everyone will understand our technical expectations. If we are able to squeeze gearbox, brakes and finaly good looking bike in +/- 1/10 scale, the upsizing to 1/5 must reach a higher technic level. That's for the expectations, and probably further Mocs or Mods. For now, the scale just 'to produce something bigger' is more likely credible in the global lineup of thechnic theme. Even at 200 euros. Still to hope that the design will be there.
  15. We can also say that if someone loves shelby car he will love a lego shelby....or not. Wait and see...
  16. What is the embargo date for this one?
  17. You told that the new panels have been designed for something more important. It clearly is for the bodywork of a certain bmw 1000rr... I have build enough bikes until today so this is an absolutely certain thing.
  18. So we are going for a backhoe loader? sweet :)
  19. So here is my own opinion. I agree with @Jim the prize is ok for the part count and electric components. But guys, each of us could build the same set with half the part count. I am 100% sure that it is possible to build a perfect functional RC CAT for 2000 parts. (could be a cool subject for a contest though) And if this was done by TLC, a lot more children in the world could had the pleasure to play with. It's just a matter of philosophy. Selling X sets at 450 euros or selling 2X sets at 225...
  20. I am just in awe...and i wheight my every word here. What's the best in this model? its perfect build where every single pin is just in its right place? Or is it the fact that this thing is realy one functional RC bike? Or is it the overall design? Speeking of that i wouldn't had pay a cent if someone told me " i will built a RC bike with a XL motor and an balancing battery box and trust me it will work" In fact i probably had laugh and pass my way. But you did it. And your video makes my day. Thanks for sharing this. Steph.
  21. So sorry for the price tag of this thing. I'll have to pass my way for this one. However: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY2TaIEkKtw - Left tracks 1 motor - Right track 1 motor - Left vertical actuator of the blade - 1 motor - Right vertical actuator of the blage - 1 motor - Both cylinder on the arm (horizontal actuators) - 1 motor - Ladder - 1 motor - Rear cut, up abd down - 1 motor - 8th function in unknown, maybe a free connection for a light set?
  22. Second model i couldn't pass by and not comment. I am particulary impressed by the custom swashplate you've build. Reading your post, i agree with you, heli don't fly upside down and the end result is very impressive. Well done sir!
