weeeell... i think it's far more fun to feel the bags and just go for it. i never got into the code-methodology anyway...

it's a nice model, but i've seen better.

How much did you spend on Lego in 2011?
snefroe replied to Legacy Man's topic in General LEGO Discussion
well i din't spend that much in 2011. just a few large technic sets and a bunch of minifigs... let's say... 300euro... ah yes... + another 300 on parts... this is all very modest compared to a few years back... when i got to 3000 euros... still, i expect to spend about 1500 or so in 2012, which is quite enough... -
REVIEW: 853340 Minifigure Wedding Favour Set
snefroe replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
nice to see this set from a bit closer. i think it's a great and creative gift to a couple that is getting married. in any case, far better than another bunch of flowers, chocolates, ... -
looks pretty great! a shame there's no floor underneath it, though... still, a great scenery

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
snefroe replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
well this Lego Cuusoo thing was new to me, honestly. last year, when we went to talk to Lego reps at the event in Windsor, we did discuss new ideas and projects, but Cuusoo is several steps ahead of that... i just hope it won't be a "new Brickshelf" with lots and lots of mocs that simply won't even reach 10 votes. Hope Lego can at least monitor the quality of the presented models in some way. -
very nice review! when i first saw the fighter, i was quite happy with it, but ... now i don't know... it needs some serious mocing, imo. no landing gear? the underside is not appealing at all. as somebody else already stated, fitting the entire astromech instead of only his head, was perhaps not the best approach... all in all, i'd say it isn't much of an improvement compared to the previous versions...

well i was really surprised to see these sets. at first i thought some pirate company was stealing lego parts again, but as far as I understand, they're genuine Lego sets. first, isn't it a bit too late to use a '90s series? all you got, these days, are reruns and endless discussions on whether there will ever be an actual film... i can only assume that this is a desperate move by Lego to get more girls into Lego. yes, to me, this looks like a theme for girls. Second, it reminds me of Paradisa sets, even though those sets were a lot better, in my opinion. I don't really like the colours, nor do i find the sets, as such, really interesting. they're ok, but nothing that would excite a boy, i think... let's not get started on the figures. to keep a long description short, they're ugly, they don't fit into the minifig world. however, i can see that the minifigs wouldn't work in a "Friends" theme, for some reason... in any case, in my view, they belong to the category: "waisted plastic" regards, sne

that is a great moc! nice to see dark blue appaering in a big space ship as the main color
-
i'm a bit puzzled as to why Lego produces these models, really... i think they're too expensive for what they're actually worth still, the color combination looks nice, but the model, as such, is not all that interesting
-
that's pretty sweet! i like the trick with the minifig hands even though it's not a perfect fit
-
looks pretty nice! great to see the gray-blue-trans yellow cobination still works!
-
well actually, this is not a bad set! At first i thought this craft had the nose of the big airplanes, but it seems to be more sophisticated than that. still, i can see some sections to mod: the cockpit looks pretty smooth from the outside. the cabin behind it has too many sharp edges for my taste. i also would change the white wing where it touches the fuselage. next to this, this is a neat model. the parts look interesting as well, even though 1 pair of white and 1 pair of black wings doesn't give you much to do with
-
it looks great! two remarks, though: 1) while you're at it, why not add some more detail to the panels, like iron nails or wooden planks that are a bit more natural, instead of straight lines 2) i think you pushed the weathering of the minifig a bit too far even though it looks pretty nice. However, if you're proud of one of your ancestors, why would you allow to have a statue in this condition?

i agree with the writer of the article on Brother's brick. however, the question that should be answered is: what exactly is art? how do you define "art"? to me, Lego is just a tool, as any other object can be used to create art...

the design is quite nice, indeed! i think the pilars are a bit too feeble, though... maybe two or four together would have been better...

what a great review, Pandora i do hope, however, that the Barry Manilow song is not going to remain inside my head before i go to bed in 10 minutes... The points remark is puzzling. I'll go and see if my Paradisa sets have that too, in the morning... and no, we, tough guys, we never bought Paradisa sets when we were young! at least, not openly... in fact, we kinda stated to any one who wanted to hear that Paradisa was for girls... not for us... ... hmmm... the sets looked nice though... still, i think they became popular only later on, when the series had long gone, when a new fanbase of afols had arrived, early 2000's. you got it right, though... the nice colors, the female figs, the interesting parts,... they made these sets stand out, especially when "City" was fully focused on yet another police car... but, i never really saw a link with "City". they seem hard to mix, if you're asking me... the scene/setting is just very different, maybe the colors aren't all that compatible, I don't really know... This looks like a basic Paradisa set to me, honestly. all the parts are more or less Paradisa parts in Paradisa colors, with Paradise minifigs, as such, it's a pretty nice set, but not a smashing one... I've seen better anyway... As Rufus, I was also very surprised to see the bathroom alternative. wow, that's a first, i think, using baseplates like that... and I think it's probably one of the first times that Lego tried to create a detailed interior... this somewhat reminded me of the old Lego Family...

this is very beautiful indeed! very creative, colorful and original! great work!

thanks for the great review! yes, this was a big surprise for me when i first browsed the internet catalogues, this was US only, as Artanis said, however, i've seen this set several times on Ebay. you may have a problem if you want a boxed one, but getting the parts for this model shouldn't be that difficult. I don't know why Lego decided not to sell this in Europe, I assume it had something to do with the production runs of other sets of the theme. The Canadian catalogue only mentions the Renegade, the Battrax and the base as sets of this theme, the European catalogue shows four sets, excluding the Renegade. oh well... anyway, Blacktron 1 was incredible! A total change from Futuron, the best designed base ever and some pretty nice additional set... except for the Renegade... If you're asking me, this set was nothing more than a "theme filler", a set that was created out of two-three other sets of the theme, pretty much like the classic "Super model", but with not much quality... the only strong point, for me, are the parts. yellow engines... that was extremely rare in those days! 2 yellow small wings... also quite rare... and several printed parts, admittedly, not extremely rare, but always great to have, in a timeframe when Bricklink was non existent. the assymetric design of the ship is the only thing that makes this model interesting to me, really. that was unheard of back then. it also indicates how far Lego was willing to go with this theme: it seems to me they were willing to re-invent the world of space all together, draw a line under classic space as it had been for the last 10 years and start all over... that was very brave move, the Renegade was simply a great idea that wasn't perfectly executed...

Is anyone else having issues w/ lego customer service going WAY beyond
snefroe replied to Legofan4ever88's topic in General LEGO Discussion
please lock this topic, it stopped making sense a long time ago and it's not really one of EB's best moments... -
well i have to say, the wings of the tie fighter look really great! that's a change from the previous ones... the midsection looks pretty much the same, though... i'll assume it's a prototype but it's got potential, that's for sure
-
before i'd go and buy this from bricklink, i would keep an eye out on local flea markets, toy bourses and other events... you may have to buy an incomplete set or a box filled with lego from all sorts of sets if a lot like that holds a motor... i do think an inspection of the motor before you buy it, is very welcome i guess it all depends on how important this is for you. i guess 40 euro is a minimum limit
-
i couldn't have said it any better... i also think that the global aspect of the trade in Lego is working against the average fan. Ebay allows any one in the world to buy a product where ever the seller lives (more or less anyway), so you get tough competition between buyers on different continents. sure, it's all good business, but it's a shame that collecting Lego is becoming more and more a hobby of the upper classes...

great review indeed! this set shows how much Lego has evolved in 20 year's time or so. it was all so small back then... a boat... only four studs wide... imagine this having to keep up with the brand new speed boats the motorcycle kinda surprised me, honestly. i thought that by this time all headlights on cycles were 1x1 round plates, this one still has the regular 1x1 square plate... oh well... the windscreen is pretty nice though... a nice set indeed, but not a real "classic" imo
