2h 2012 models
snefroe replied to TAFOL's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
well i think both models look pretty nice, but there's no "wow-factor", i'm sorry to say. Yes it's great to have something different for a change, but this isn't Unimog-league imo... still, i'll get both at some point. -
excellent review indeed! i saw the house in the shop today, but I didn't get it though. It sure looks like a great set to have. I like the colors and the creativity. If there's one down site, it's the fact that it only has one minifig, which is, imo, one short... kids will wanna play with the set and that usually requires a boy and a girl... so yes, playability (8/10) is a bit too high...

happy birthday! hope they exam was ok...

well it depends on how far you are willing to go, honestly. - the best source, imo, is Bricklink.com, which has many sets in several different types of condition, some will have the box, others only the instructions. Bricklink, however, is often not cheap... - Ebay is another option. There are nice deals to be made from time to time, but the classics are always in high demand, especially with a good box, so keep your wallet close to you... - garage sales, bourses, your own network of friends is very often a good way to collect old stuff as well. Unfortunately, in my experience, prices have gone up there as well... - ...

pfwwwww... almost wasn't coming after all... had a problem with my old ID card and i had to ask for a new one. Usually these things take 3-4 weeks, which would be too late for the trip... and without the ID-card, no trip... BUT, i got a message today, saying i can pick up my new card any time i want to in the next couple of days! pfwwwww.... that was stressful... ok, so, now that i'm back in the game, ... ... where do i sleep? sne

REVIEW: 8831 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 7
snefroe replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
great review! can't wait to see these figs in the shop! however, this series does not impress as former series did. Evil knight, Space Dude, the prehistoric fig, swimming champion,... hmmm... not my choice, honestly. I would liked a better Space Dude and knight... the Aztec warrior looks cool, though, even though i'm a bit disappointed with the colors. I like the spear, but i would have prefered the Roman, Indian,... one, one you can use for any type of "castle" minifig... Hope the plastic doens't look "cheap" either. the bagpiper would be my fave, even though i'm not too fond of the skirt, however, the rest of the fig is simply incredible. i can't say there's a fig i'd like to get in large quantities in this series. There's no "Roman soldier", no gladiator, no Spartan in it for me, but i'll most certainly get 1 of each... -
well i guess it's a nice thing to have, even though it doesn't have much appeal as a display set.
-
I'm coming too! for the entire event it doesn't matter in which chalet i'm in. just bought my plane tickets. i'll be there on Wednesday at about 15.00 and leave on Sunday at about 14.10 can't wait!!!!!
-
it's a pretty nice study into cylindrical objects, that's for sure! al you need now is a tower next to it!
-
what a great idea to use the catalogue photos for a scenery! I always loved these catalogue shots! they were a brilliant inspiration to me, even though i never came close to the real thing. this is pretty great so far! hope to see some more soon!

it's not a bad set, honestly. Sure, 180€ is a lot, but a fairly normal price for a modular building of this size. I'm not so fond of the interior though and it sorta lacks sophistication... The lift is a nice feature but not good enough to make this set into something really attractive... also, i see the return of the classic minifig head! maybe it's cheaper to create a hair piece than a printed face? think i'll pass on this one, really...
-
well i like the truck, even though it's a bit conservative. as such, it's not a highly innovative design, i don't really see anything highly exciting, bit it's cool anyway... not too fond of the house though... i've seen better... i like the plane as well. it's not spectacular, it's in fact, pretty basic, but it shows you don't require a lot of bricks to come up with a pretty nice design
-
my first reaction was: "is that from 1980? i must be getting old" then i checked brickset... it is from 1989... you might wanna change that anyway, a cheap set to fill up the Lego Town and easily modified into a normal car... I never liked the large black plate though... the wheels, on the other hand, where pretty cool
-
well i saw this set, which is the best tie-fighter of the series, imo, in a shop about a week ago and really thought of buying it. then i saw the price: 57 euros! my guess is it'll be really great as a display model in the living room, but, not being a die hard SW fan, i think i'll get the parts i need from bricklink...

REVIEW: 8827 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6

:mine has it too... -
weeeeell... let's face it... Classic Space (meaning Space before Futuron or maybe included Futuron as the last breath of a dying organism) is dead and buried it's been like this for decades, I don't expect the return of the Golden Age. As far as I know, Lego never even considered to resurrect Classic Space... it seems to me that Space Conquest was at the end of the line. It was far from the best selling theme of the current catalog and in terms of playability, my guess is that Dino2012 and Superheroes, will simply take over. However, if they do come up with a new line, I hope it's something different from anything before. I hope it would be something that we simply did not expect them to do, instead of a new space police theme or even blacktron. My main concern, in any case, is the quality of the sets. I wouldn't buy just any robot or spaceship, it has got to be a good robot or spaceship... but as for now, i wouldn't keep my hopes up too much
-
nice mini review, Mutley to me, these mini sets were always about parts. in that regard, i'd say this is quite good
-
well i kinda like the slope-technique, i'm sure it looks great for specific types of boats; the first one... well, i don't like gaps, especially when it's difficult to find ways to fill them up, even though i like the creativity...

Opening a LEGO store, one question first...
snefroe replied to Diggydoes's topic in General LEGO Discussion
well i used to have a second hand shop dealing in toys in my neighbourhood. They used to have looooots of Lego in the 80's and the 90's, like 5-6 Space monorail, at least 2 galaxy explorers, and several trains... then Star Wars came along and suddenly, everybody wanted the older stuff too, prices went up, even at flea markets... then Ebay turned up... that kinda killed the toy shop... I still hate myself for not having bought the entire Lego collection when it still was very cheap! So yeah... lots have changed in 10-15 years... as far as the lego shop goes, obviously, you'd need permission from Lego to sell Lego in a Lego shop. Not only that, you'd also be very dependent upon the company, because you only have 1 type of product, and you'd have to rely upon very exclusive, rare sets, stuff you normally only find on the Lego site or other Lego shops. You don't control prices either because Lego will not allow stiff competition between a Lego shop and the other toyshops... you also can't order any number of sets you want. there are package deals and even though you're promoting their product, it doesn't mean they'll give you something extra for it... -
please please please, tell me it's just a joke... this is not our first choice, not even our second or third... why oh why, would we wanna have some more fishermen and space villains...
