Problem starting LDD today
kotaco replied to Kazz's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
You could accomplish that by creating a hosts file for LDD. That would block outgoing connections and have you start in offline mode by default without turning off your internet. All you'd need to do is find out what url LDD is calling when it starts up to create the host file. It'd look something like: 127.0.0.1 lego.com but with the the url that LDD is calling at start up, which I don't know as of yet. This may complicate updating although you could easily comment out that line for updates by putting a # sign in front of it. i.e) #127.0.0.1 lego.com Just a suggestion, for more on hosts file google search or http://www.wikihow.com/Use-a-Hosts-File-in-Windows -
As an actual firefighter in real life, I don't see why any of the professional vs volunteer should matter when it comes down to it, we all do the same job. Volunteers often do it much harder with much less.

Typically for the combat challenge you go up the stairs carrying a hotel pack, raise up 2 or 3 rolls of hose, run back down with the hotel pack, hit an object with a sledgehammer, drag a hoseline a certain distance, then drag a dummy a certain distance, while in full gear and on air.

I like this one a lot, I saw it over on MOCPages, I just fear the price tag with all the bricks! lol Would make a great building for a structure fire.

LDD file for my fire engine MOC
kotaco replied to BrickBox's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yeah I understand what you mean, the doors on mine may or may not function, but a lot of other fire truck builders do a great job adding in the small details. -
Wasn't any set actually, it was seeing the amazing fire dept MOCs on various websites such as Flickr, MOCPages and Brothers Brick. I decided I wanted to have something like those and so I got back into LEGO, and like a snowball downhill, I just kept going and growing.

I really enjoy your fire apparatus! :)

[Software] SR 3D Builder Lego simulator
kotaco replied to xSergio74's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
This looks pretty awesome. I haven't read the whole site yet, but if it allows you to send the parts to a BrickLink wanted list it beats LDD all the way.- 428 replies

LDD file for my fire engine MOC
kotaco replied to BrickBox's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Those are all really cool! I love how much storage space you have in the compartments. I'm a firefighter/ paramedic myself in the USA. -
I don't have the talents to draw things out in pencil, but I can do a little bit with the computer. These are my LDD designs with some spice added:

Wow! You guys have a ton of minigures! I only have about 60 or 70, mainly firemen.

Forgive me if linking to another site isn't allowed here, I searched the rules and didn't see anything that said "No. Don't do that!" :) I am Dakota, a lurker here at EuroBricks and an admin over at Emergency Bricks. We are a LEGO® oriented community geared towards the emergency services: Police, Fire & EMS. We are the first forum community of our kind for our niche and gaining members quickly which is nice. I just wanted to share an invite for any interested emergency services enthusiasts to drop by and share their creations and tips if you'd like. It's all free and located at: (My apologies to the moderating team if this kind of post isn't allowed)
