    Unpopular Opinions about LEGO

That wouldn´t solve the problem. They will always be timelimited, as every Lego-Set is - sure a longer run would make them better avaiable but in the end it wouldn´t solve anything. Neither would "no blindness". High demand minifigures will always be the first that are gone. If you can see what is inside it would just make more people able to get what they want, as not everyone knows about the codes or is going to use them. But at the same time there would also be more people that would be picking the more favourable figures and would IMO increase the problem as you would still need luck to get there when they are placed - else the best will be always gone. Now you are planning to increase the time to solve this, but for how long are you planning to have them on the shelves to reach that? With people collecting several and in some cases hundrets of a figure for Army building, it would take a very long time to reach that point. And we shouldn´t forget that the other figures would still be sitting on the shelves so which retailer would order more boxes, to sell 1-3 favourable figures and sit on a mass of the rest? So IMO, the main "problem" is that there are more and less demanded minifigures, which you always will have. So to solve it you would need more figures produced of the high demand ones. and less of the others. That beeing said, the equal distribution isn´t a bad thing on one side, especially for those wanting a complete series and oder them to share the minifigures. And of course they won´t change it. So to solve the issue IMO they would have to either sell them through Pick a Brick. Or let people preorder them so they can produce the demanded figures. Both won´t happen either of course, but that really is the only way I would see how you could get Army-builders and resellers out of the Shops.

Honestly, I am very glad they didn´t use the long legs, because, to me minifigs with those just look very strange as those legs are out of proportion. You would need a upper body that fits to it, to maybe look better, but even that might still look strange. So yeah I would guess they tested the legs and decided that it just doesn´t look good, which I would completely agree with. Maxime, the half giantess you mentioned above, is the best proof that it doesn´t work well.

    Unpopular Opinions about LEGO

I don´t think they are "allergic" to it, since it isn´t that long ago they did those for the Harry Potter theme. Aside from that I think they always only made them for people to be able to add more figures to other sets of a theme, and as they are not doing the classic themes like castle or pirates as themes anymore they are doing less traditional battlepacks. Honestly, once the first waves of avaiability at pick a brick are over you can order them quite well, no need to play a waiting game you just need patience till resellers and army builders have their stocks filled with the first waves.
  4. I would actually think that this is the most likely option. I just don´t see them doing it in Minifig Scale.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Both Standard and Bestsellers worked before, though no idea when they actually changed it. But would guess it hasn´t been that long ago.

Yeah I checked and indeed only bestsellers do count. Strange change IMO, especially since they just merged both shops and made the change that they count one or two years ago. Well thankfully at least Bestsellers still count.

Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion

War of the Rohirrim was already announced way back. And noone said they could do whatever they can. And at this point, if they would do sets for that film, likely there would have been leaks for it already, though I would still not completely rule them out. If they will do for Gollum, who knows. Though honestly for me that film overall sounds less appealing than LotR , the Hobbit and even the War of the Rohirrim - which doesn´t mean it can still become a great film, but it is hard to imagine what they would do with it at this point.

I don´t think you got what I meant. My point was, no matter if the Licensing they originally made when they started with Rivendell included possibilites to make smaller sets, or Sets based on anything else than the Lord of the Rings at all, it does seem unlikely to me that they wouldn´t get they licensing for those, if they wanted to have them. Warner and New Line are companies that need to make money and with big IPs Merchandising/Licensing doesn´t make a that small part of it IMO. Not to mention, that for new Films Sets also would also be advertising those.

Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion

It will very likely depend on how good the sales of the two Sets we got are. Also more Big Sets doesn´t mean they will have to be that big, they could also do Sets in the 200€ range. Such big sets usually tend to stay around longer than smaller ones, and, to compare it again with Harry Potter, there are 4 Sets in the 400-500€ Range avaiable, + a 300 one and this years Big set isn´t even included. That beeing said, for Lego it does seem to make sense. I don´t see an issue there. Sure we don´t know how exactly that contract looks like, but it would surprise me if they wouldn´t be able to make sets for those if they would want to make them. In the end the Warner/New Line would have interest to make money with their films, both in the cinema and through licensing. I think Lord of the Rings has more Places to display in the end than Harry Potter does. The Castle is the main place where most of the scenes happen, so naturally it will be included in every wave - though they also show different scenes even if they use the same rooms. But overall I would say that there is actually not that much real repetition as you would think would happen. Anyways, one issue with Harry Potter IMO is that it has 3 main Characters and pretty much all Scenes in the Movies are about them, so they also are hugely presented in the films, wheras LotR has more main characters it can chooses from with less repetition among the sets from a wave.

    Jurassic Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Honestly, I am kinda disappointed in the Sets. When I look back at the T-Rex and the Raptors, those are really great Dinosaurs, Triceratops and Ankylosaurus, Gallimimus, Stygimoloch, Dilophosaurus (the movable one, not the statue) also. Last years Brachiosaurus was already very disappointing without movable legs and the big gap to move the throat. It is just much more conspicious that with other Dinosaurs - and with the Allosaurus it is quite visible too, though not as much as with the Brachiosaurus. Aside from that the legs seem a bit to big to me and the colour just isn´t doing great in my eyes. I am very happy that the Stego got movable legs but sadly it seems like that is the only thing that can move, not the jaw, the head nor the tail. I don´t know I just expected more but I think the biggest issue I have is the plates the middle ones seem a bit to big, but overall the biggest issue is that it is just to plain, the Stego would hugely benefit from prints for the plates.
  11. I would also love if they would bring some of the older CMFs back, like they have done before. Though since it would likely be a 5 pack, there is always the risk only one or two of them appeal to you really.

    Jurassic Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I´ll put some raptor eggs on Tuesday then. Dunno, just a feeling really. I wouldn´t mind if we would not get any leak in advance since it is only two days left now to that, though very likely we will get them at least some hours in advance anyways.

Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion

If we look at Star Wars and Harry Potter that doesn´t seem to be an issue, although surely many buy just some and not all of them.
  14. You marked the wrong word there. I meant the 50th but made an error with the year. Of course I meant 2028. ;) I meant exactly this. The first minifigures that Lego made were done in 1975 with the heads used now, though without face prints. They had no movable arms or legs and those would celebrate their 50th anniversary next year. Though, as also mentioned above the first costume-series from 2018 was labeled as 40th anniversary, so Lego doesn´t consider those first minifigures as such but the minifigure as we know them today, first made in 1978. Hence why I said, they could still celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lego figure next year (with clearly wording it figure but not minifigure) though they might just not celebrate it at all.

Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion

In the end, it doesn´t matter, since they keep doing them. Look at Star Wars, where they make two big Sets every year, Harry Potter also gets one, so they will keep doing the same with Lord of the Rings as long as people buy it. We shouldn´t forget the Sets don´t necessarily aim for people to buy all of them, there are also people wo will buy Rivendell but not Barad-Dûr etc. From a customer sight, of course it is to much to buy. Hence why I didn´t get Rivendell yet, though it really is a great set. But Lord of the Rings isn´t the only theme around I like and space and money are limited.

Basically you could do several things with this theme they have done with others. Playsets, dioramas, buildable figures/creatures, microscale sets etc.
  17. I just realised that Lego might actually not celebrate it next year, because the 50th anniversary is actually just 2028. Stonewars stated it would be next year in their article about the Ideas Minifig-Prize-Machine. But actually next year it will be 50 years of the minifigures that had no faceprints or movable arms/legs and if we look at the first costumed minifigure series for the 40th anniversary it is clear that Lego doesn´t consider them as minifigures. They could still celebrate 50 years Lego figures though, just not sure how likely that is. Anyways, I would really hope for a retro series instead of yet another costume one, though of course the costume series also gave us great minifigures.

‘LEGO compatible’ Raven Knight horse barding?

Those are clones of Lego Pieces (the website also states they are not Lego pieces btw). Those usually have more clutch power meaning the studs are a little bit bigger than the ones from Lego Pieces. Might also be they have higher tolerances so it is possible that it damages your minifigure, though normally it shouldn´t happen. Since it isn´t stated who the actual manufacturer is, noonw will be able to tell you how good those actually are unless he bought it himself. Personally, aside from the different clutch power I wouldn´t buy them for the reason alone that those are clones, but to each their own.
  19. With the Lego Minifigure celebrating the 50th anniversary next year, I wonder if they will do a special series to celebrate this - a Series that brings back (updated) Minifigures they formerly did. Then I could see them doing one normal CMF, a 50 years Lego Minifigures one and one Licensed.

    Jurassic Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

The more dinosaurs in a set the better - won´t mind much if it is the same species, even if it is the exact same dinosaur.. I mean raptors are often hunting in teams in the films anyways, and most of the herbivores live in herds, so more dinosaurs in a pack are always welcome, especially if that were to mean less vehicles and such.
  21. Since there are the first leaked pictures out now and we seem to (surprisingly) have no thread for it yet, I thought it would be the time to just make one ;). First of all the facts we know so far: Pieces: 3745 Estimated Price: 360$/320£ Release:1st April 2024The Set was made based on a fan design from an Lego Ideas Contest, you can find the winner announcement here. The leaked picture is, as always quite bad quality and can be found in the usual places, so I will wait to judge the build when we got better pictures of it. So far I would say they added a lot details including D&D creatures such as the Beholder and seems to include at least 6 minifigures including a dragonborn using the vidiyo-dragon head in green. Nice catch, as always I fail to see so many details in those low quality-pics. Rogue looks quite obvious but I couldn´t have identyfied the High Elven Druid exactly as this. Also it seems like we are getting a D&D CMF in September: 21348 Lego Ideas Dungeons & Dragons and D&D CMF - Page 3 - LEGO Historic Themes - Eurobricks Forums

    Jurassic Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Not much more than for Chaos Theory I would guess, since I doubt he will have an appearance there ;). Not as much as Harry Potter ;). Though I see why they do it, since first of all they are main characters so they are in most of the important scenes and a such you need to include them if you want to show the scene. That and they also consider that not everyone would buy all Sets.

    Unexpected extras

So far I don´t remember that I ever had any strange pieces, though I heard from other people that they encountered wrong bricks in their sets. Would still guess that this is a quite rare thing to happen, but likely it was even more rare back in the time your set is from. As for unexpected parts there is a quite fun one, where Lego made an error with several Sets from the 10000 Legends Guarded in, where they put the Western Indians Horse into the Set instead of the White one. The white one was sent in an extra bag with the order though.

    2024 Space sets

The Airtanks are still avaiable on Pick a Brick (they were used for the city underwater theme) but I don´t have much hope for the torso, unless it would be included elsewhere since it would be very rare that a GWP-Minifigure shows up in Pick a Brick (the blacktron pilot actually is the only one I remember)

Wouldn´t make sense to have the Elder wand sitting around on Display in Olivanders Shop IMO.
