Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

*sound of hope cracking* I guess we haven't heard anything about the buildable Donald Duck either so that's 2 sets from the survey not manifesting (or 1 was reworked into a minidoll set) Would genuinely love to see what the results of the survey were; must not have been very promising results for the minifigure Dragon set. -

New set photos out. The dragon does look nice although I feel like LEGO at this point should invest in a new color for those ball joints instead of just the grey. They use them so often that a black, light nouget, or brown might have given them some return on investment by now. -

I wonder if the sales numbers of the clamshell and Disney Castle are a contributing factor as well. I can see Lego looking at the two biggest Disney Princess centric sets last year not doing well as a sign that Disney Princess only sells if they are minidolls and chose to swap an Aurora and Philip minifigure for minidolls as a result. Snow White might have been too far into production (with the new Dwarf beard molds) to change but I haven't looked into the cottage sales to know if its enough to make Lego second guess themselves. -

I meant more that there was rumor it would be based on the Lego Disney Princess special aired on Disney Plus. Dragon Maleficent shows up with Gaston and fighting Tiana and Ariel so it was unsure if it would be off of Sleeping Beauty or the Special. -

Looks like a few more rumors are confirming minidolls for the Dragon Maleficent set, but sounds like it is based off the original film rather than the Disney Plus special with Aurora and Philip included. I'll probably pick it up for the dragon build alone but man, disappointed. Especially as they just released Philip and Aurora as minidolls last year. -

New leak is suggesting it will have an Aurora minifigure, same one from the CMF. Not sure how to feel if its a repeat figure or how Lego can't seem to be consistent with this line of sets. -

Winnie the Pooh's original submission included Pooh, Piglet, Rabbit and brick built Tigger and Eeyore. Eeyore ended up getting a mold while Tigger was made into a minifigure. By all accounts, the original minifigures made it to the final set. The original submission for Nightmare Before Christmas included: Jack, Sally, Zero, Dr. Finkelstein, Lock, Shock, Barrell, Santa, Jack Santa. The question is would any of this figures get cut especially if too many new molds are needed and would they add Oogie Boogie given he is super popular but not in the initial submission. -

I honestly don't see a world where the Nightmare Before Christmas set doesn't come with Oogie Boogie. He's the 2nd/3rd most popular character from the film and there's no way Lock Shock and Barrel make it in but not him in what will most likely be the only Nightmare Before Christmas set we get. Best case scenario: we get Jack, Sally, Zero, Finkelstein, Lock, Shock, Barrel, Oogie, Santa Jack. Worst case scenario: we get Jack, Sally, Finkelstein, Zero -

Being a Disney minifigure fan really is just hoping for the best but preparing for the minidolls anyway. -

I think the Encanto sets hold that distinction, but this is the first Pixar film to have minidolls outside the Princess Line as only Merida had been done before. -

It looks exactly like I thought it would but was not expecting minidolls. Odd choice to give Anxiety over Sadness and with 2 random memory workers but oh well. It's a pass from me but I feel like the Ideas set may be the real last time we get minifigures for the foreseeable future (unless those get changed as well) -

My first thought at seeing them. I know Tarzan is fairy easy to make out of official pieces but is Jane as easy? -

It's so pretty. With all this talk, do we think there are any films where sets just don't work, best to get the characters in a CMF or variety type set? I'm just thinking of something like Bambi where no scene makes itself a compelling set and Bambi showing up in the camera set is probably the only way we would have gotten him. -

I would throw serious money at a Mary Poppins set but I understand its a more niche IP than others. Fun fact: this year is the 60th anniversary of the film. Honestly though, I feel like a Jolly Holiday set has more chances of getting made. The costumes are a bit more vibrant and unique than their London garb and are familiar to those who go to the parks. Penguins in bow ties, a merry go round or a small farm build would sell as a playset more than the standard doll house. But Id be happy to get them in a CMF too. -

I have so many white horses from the old Lord of the Rings, Scooby Doo, and Beauxbatons Carriage sets so it will be easy to add. And with how many new animal molds Lego does every odd year or so, I'm holding off on the forest animals for now. Don't want to BL only to see chipmunks, tan bunnies, racoons, and new deer mold come out in a year. -

Looks like 77073 is the Battle Bus, which is the most obvious choice of set but happy to know it's coming. Which 10 figs do we think they're going to pick? -

Didn't the leaked piece count for the Ideas set list it at over 1,000 pieces? Given the competition had a hard limit of 800 or less, it seems to have ballooned. Unsure if that means more figures or if construction required more pcs which means minifigs may have been cut to meet the projected price. Really wish we could get some more information on it. -

Honestly, an Adventures of Pinocchio set would be great. Gepetto's Workshop with side builds of Strombollis Caravan and the Coachaman's coach. Include Pinocchio, microfig Jiminy, Gepetto, Blue Fairy, Cleo, Figaro, Honest John, Gideon, Strombolli, Coachman and Lampwick would be enough for me. Monstro would need to be brickbuilt and Pleasure Island would be easy enough to moc with all the carnival, funfair sets we've gotten over the years. -

I was just thinking that. If they could yearly put out a set of this quality for a different movie while still making the minidoll sets, I would be happy. -
Shocked at this but happy. Still wish we had gotten a Glinda minifigure from the original 1930s movie but I'll take what I can get. I'm not sure if the $90 would be Emerald City or Shiz. Given that it's only part 1 this year, we could expect more in 2025 and Shiz wouldn't be in the second film so best to make use of it now while its the main setting.

I think yes and no. Unlike many other streaming favorites such as Encanto or Elemental which came out in the middle of the big streaming vs. theaters war happening right now, Moana came out in 2016 when streaming wasn't as massive. It could be interpreted as Moana being viewed that much is people watching a favorite movie of theirs over and over (saying this as someone who watches the 1989 Little Mermaid at least twice a month...no judgment) Disney could be banking then on people who saw the original going to see the sequel with their kids or others and if Disney stresses or delays a streaming release could drive up sizable tickets for what I am imagining is a shoe string budget. I did however realize that it releases the same day as Wicked and I'm pretty sure this will go the same way as Winnie the Pooh releasing the same day as Deathly Hallows Part 2 and be absolutely annihilated no matter what. -

Moana was the most streamed film of 2023 across all streaming platforms. It is very much a hit. After the dreadful box office for their 100th year, I see this as Disney really clinging to sequels, remakes, and reboots until their coffers are large enough to take a risk on more original stories again. And I would be more than happy to help if they chose to put out some quality Lego minifigure sets on some older IPs if they are so inclined. -

It looks beautiful. It will be a day one for me. It's just nice to have a sort of "one stop shop" for Snow White in this set which as other have pointed out, is really only missing the Evil Queen, Huntsman, and Magic Mirror but two of those are currently available via CMF. It does make me hope we get more sets like this for other films but I don't think my budget would be able to handle so many sets like this. -

Since Lego is putting out a Notre Dame Cathedral, how much does that raise up hope we may one day get some Hunchback figures? -
