Just starting out in stop motion

I will look up Adobe Premiere Elements. We do have a tripod (my husband is a camera nerd, so he has a crazy one) but I didn't use if for most of the clip... I didn't know how to make the camera connect to the tripod (I do now though).

    Journey to the Underwold (MOC)

This is awesome. I love the story, I especially Love Yarek (he could be a character in a Monty Python skit). I also love the West Gate of Erebus, beautifully done.
  3. After reading Derfel Cardarn's building methods I was inspired to build something. I am not an historian so chances are there will be things all wrong historically, but here is my little village. Lego Medieval village by tikitikitembo, on Flickr Lego Medieval village - barn by tikitikitembo, on Flickr Lego Medieval village - shack by tikitikitembo, on Flickr Lego Medieval village - house by tikitikitembo, on Flickr Lego Medieval village - bridge by tikitikitembo, on Flickr Thanks for looking Edit to add: The flipper roof idea was from SlyOwl.

    My first Medieval MOC

Thanks Taz and Lightning Tiger. Taz, I might change the size of the big building, which will also fix the space where I stuck the little market stall (so I can remove that). I couldn't remember who did the flipper roof, but as soon as I saw it, I ordered a bunch of flippers. I think the red apples came from belville and Scala sets (and from bricklink). I have a weird need to buy lots of Lego food, I must have about 50 bananas but never used a single one in a MOC Lightnining tiger, they are from around 16c new on bricklink for the trans-clear goblet (around 20c from Aussie sellers, where you can do direct deposit for many Aussie sellers).

A Guide to building a Medieval Village

Thanks Derfel. You really have inspired me to build more in the medieval theme (as opposed to town for me). I really love how you have so many wonderful details and everything is so perfectly built. I have done my first attempt, but I already am thinking about trying something better again (maybe trying a bigger building, my medieval buildings never quite turn out right). Cheers

    MOC : The Cave Bear

Very cool. I also love the cave work, the tan with the grey and dark tan works really well. The bear is also really cool.

    My first Medieval MOC

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I agree with the MMV market stall (i had a space but ran out of ideas I wasn't sure what else to put in the space. I will reduce the flowers a little (I have a big foliage order coming, so I can add more greenery in place of some of the flowers). The waterfall is goblets and clear 1x1 round plates. I started making the river topped with clear 1x1 plates, but I ran out. My husband likes the little barn with 1x1 plates best, but I like the little shack with 1x1 round plates (and flipper roof, an idea that I stole from someone on the internet)

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Oh a pub would be lovely addition, (MMV has a small type of pub in the downstairs of one of the buildings also). For some reason, I want the minifigs to wear lederhosen and Dirndl.

    Collectable Minifigures: Feeling the Packets

I do understand though what you are saying, and I actually like the idea of them being distributed through 'gumball' type machines. (Someone recently posted about them being used in Japan). That would make them random for all. Last few series I have just bought the majority as a set or a box off bricklink (and randomly in store). Edit to add: as currently sold, I have no issue with people feeling to get the last ones they needs, I find something weird about going around all the local stores trying to get all the gladiators, so lots of people in the area will not be able to get a complete set of minifigs. (I think that is the socialist in me coming out).
  10. 100HKD is $12 Australian dollars (their Australian RRP is $5). I think I would probably wait for their release at the price (do we know when their official release date is expected to be?) Can't wait to see the picture.
  11. Darn Amazon France. I just ordered a Lego Advent calendar, a playmobil advent calander and another playmobil set (all delivered for less than $50Aus). I am going to have to block amazon France, maybe after Christmas (I am thinking of getting my husband that big 8043 technic digger).

    grohl's Creator alternates

Wow, these are great. A really good use of parts. I particularly like some of the animals you have built. I am going to have to give some alternative builds a try.

    LDD MOC: Winter cottage

I really love this winter cottage. Like someone else, I love the use of the 1x1 trans light blue round plates as icicles. I also love how you have cleverly used the space under the stairs for the outside wood storage.
  15. I got my MMV today from Amazon France. (UPS attempted first delivery yesterday). So 5 days for shipping And that is the cheap shipping, I can't imagine how quick their express shipping is. I am never shopping anywhere else

Just starting out in stop motion

In the next few days we are getting a new SLR with live view (to allow me to use onion skinning), I have also bought two lamps for even lighting and some blu-tak to hold things in place. So hopefully that helps minimise some of the issues my first video had. I have also finished reading the Susannah Shaw stop motion book... So now I should be ready. Thanks for the feedback on my video

    MOC - Chemist (Drug Store)

I love the use of the blue glass curved windows at the entrance. Can't wait to see some of the details inside.
  18. Was that aimed at me. Awwww, it mattered so much that you responded but paying twice as much for lego doesn't... that is interesting priorities

    About MOC philosophy

These are really good questions, and as you can see from the answers so far, there is going to a range of philosophies. a) I mostly use Lego, but I do own (and sometimes incorporate) megabloks figures (but not the bricks), brickarms and brickforge pieces. *I even recently bought a K'nex mario figure to potentially use*. b) I build and let my toddler play with what I make, so I generally make things that are strong and playable. Part of the joy of building for me, is to see them enjoyed and played with afterwards. c) I don't use any software for lego planning, sometimes I will print out photos of buildings with interesting elements or do some rough paper and pencil sketches, but I generally just build.
  20. I put that I wanted a Lego store in my country And fair and equitable Lego pricing for all counties.

That is such a cute little build. Really well designed.

    MOC: SL Bus

The bus is really well done, and I really love the bus stop and road details you have done.
  23. I have changed my website of choice, I think I am now addicted to amazon France. I ordered a MMV about a week ago and this morning ordered two of the winter Christmas sets (they ended up costing $125 delivered to Australia for both of them). The shipping from Amazon France is really cheap (and I think they take a tax off, because it always seems cheaper at checkout, but I don't speak French (I click the buttons I know from my UK and US Amazon ordering). I did order a lot from thehut, but they are frightfully slow and don't seem to get much new in (but I still look for great deals, which thehut do get, (I have got so many amazingly cheap sets from them). Although they have started adding $1 (per item) to my orders, which I think might be the start of adding postage to international orders.

    Town Plan Style Buildings

I love how you have built the windows sideways in the cafe. It really suits the type of building it is. And the gumball machine is really cute... I might steal that idea

    MOC - Hogwarts Happy Church

This is really beautiful. Lots of nice little touches and details. Where is the bride's torso from?
