  1. That’s an impressive collection of UCS sets ; I hope that I'll own the majority of these at some point in the distant future! I’ve been looking for a MISB Death Star II for a while, but they’ve got very expensive.
  2. These all look amazing! The Death Star scene is superb (although I’m a little biased as it includes my favourite UCS set!), and the Tatooine display looks stunning!
  3. At least they’re not actually copying the LEGO symbol & packaging. I collected vintage Star Wars for a couple of years and there were so many copies/reproduction parts it was really scary (capes, blasters, box inserts, playset backgrounds etc) & I even found a seller who was making reproduction figures!
  4. I just bought a sealed 7749 (Echo base) from Ebay, not a bad price & it was 100% charity listing which was good. Currently planning a decent Hoth medical bay and I needed a suitable Han; although I’m sure that the Tauntaun will come in handy at some point!
  5. It seems to have lost 7 pieces and gained a duplicated set of minifigures.....! Super Star DestroyerItem #: 10221 Ages: 16+ Pieces: 3145 Coming Soon on 1 Sep 2011 Dare to pilot Darth Vader’s™ deadly destroyer! The Super Star Destroyer Executor has arrived! This jaw-dropping vessel is the personal flagship of Darth Vader, and serves as command ship at both the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Endor. With its classic dagger-shaped design, the Executor is among the largest and most powerful vessels in the Star Wars galaxy. With over 3,000 pieces, measuring nearly 50"" (124.5 cm) long and weighing nearly 8 pounds (3.5 kg), every aspect of this fantastic LEGO® Star Wars™ model impresses. •Includes 5 minifigures: Darth Vader, Admiral Piett, Dengar, Bossk and IG-88. •Includes 5 minifigures: Darth Vader, Admiral Piett, Dengar, Bossk and IG-88 •Features over 3,000 pieces! •Measures nearly 50 inches (124.5 cm) long and weighs nearly 8 pounds (3.5kg)! •Includes display stand and data sheet label! •Center section lifts off to reveal command center!
  6. I just ordered a load of new parts from Lego Pick A Brick. I was going to buy the new Hoth set, until I saw the first pictures of it a couple of weeks ago! So, I thought that I might have a bash at making my own version. I’m hoping that I can do a half-decent medical bay (based heavily on Brickplumber’s first Hoth which I’ve always had a soft spot for! )
  7. I spoke to one of the really nice people in Lego Customer Services today (actually, they’re all great and always seem to have an amazing level of enthusiasm! ). She confirmed that this will be definitely available on the 1st September in the UK. However, there isn’t any pre-order available. Time to start saving I guess .
  8. I've just checked my manual (I have one of the later models) and it states part no: 54 x 4113854. They look like the Trans-Blue to me, definitely darker than the light blue pieces I have (e.g. Ben & Luke's lightsabres from 8092, if that's any help!) Have fun building this, you won't regret it!
  9. Sorry, I can’t help with the 10030, although I’ve just weighed my UCS Falcon & shuttle to help with the weight/cost question. Mine are both currently bagged, so the weights quoted below include the original plastic packaging! However, results as follows: UCS 10179 Falcon: Cost £350 new, weight 6298g = £55.56/kg UCS 10212 Imperial Shuttle: Cost £246 new, weight 2918g = £84.83/kg UCS 10221 Super Star Destroyer: Cost 350 new, weight 3500g = £100.00/kg Even with the high level of inflation, this appears to be a rather expensive set, but I’m still going to buy it
  10. Definitely overpriced, but I’ve decided to buy this one. The detailing on the top & engines looks excellent (although at this price I was hoping that they had added a load of technic LEDS to illuminate them!) The underside looks awful, and I’m really surprised that they didn’t do a better job. Anio’s version is vastly superior!
  11. I really like the look of this, and the bridge scene. However, I’m surprised by the low piece count, considering the length of it, but I guess that it’s comprised of lots of plates. I just hope that it isn’t going to be too expensive! I guess that I might have to buy it after all.
  12. I’m clearly in the minority here, but I think that he looks great! I really like his expression; he’s a bounty hunter after all so he should look a bit grumpy! Anyway, he doesn’t do a great deal in ESB, so I guess that Lego had to use their initiative when designing him.
  13. Great review, thanks! I really like the minifigures (especially Luke) and some of the detailing is an improvement on the earlier version. However, the exposed technic beams on the underside look truly awful!
  14. Highly impressive, I can’t wait to see this finished. The detailing at the back is superb and the shape looks very close to the original. This must have cost a fortune to build.....! Cheers, Robin
  15. Thanks for the update; I’m surprised that it’s only 3200 pieces considering the estimates of the length of it that I’ve seen. Actually, I was expecting it to be a lot more (4000+), considering the level of detail & the possibility that it includes a bridge scene. I’m sure that it will be an amazing set & I’m really looking forward to seeing some really detailed pictures of it!
  16. UCS Cloud city; I really love the original version, but a larger one would be amazing. Ideally this should include a decent landing pad that will fit either 4504 or 7965, some of the hallways, carbonite freezing chamber & the gantry where Luke battles Darth. More optimistically, they could add LEDs to the chamber to re-create the amazing orange & blue lighting, and possibly motorise the chamber! They could actually split it into a couple of sets which could be linked together. Minifigures: Lobot , Lando, Leia, Han, Luke, Darth & a couple of Ugnaughts!
  17. Overall, I still prefer the older version (4504) which I owned until I bought the UCS one. On the plus side the top cannons are a vast improvement, although the landing feet look awful! At least they’ve kept the blue band for the engine which I always had a soft spot for. I added a couple of technic LEDs to either end of it, plus a couple more in the cockpit , and I was really pleased with the results!
  18. It's really nice to build and looks superb (I finished mine a couple of days ago) but the top wing is very unstable and wobbles a lot! The only other things that disappointed me were i) the lack of a ramp and ii) my version appears to be cream rather than white (all of the photos I've seen show it as white, as does the box). However, it's definitely worth the money. Have fun building!
  19. I’m not usually interested in PT sets, but I’m quite tempted by 7962. The Podracers look beautifully detailed, and far better than the previous versions. I was determined to buy the new Echo Base but, after seeing the new photos, perhaps I’ll invest one of these instead!
  20. Great review thanks, and a very nice Anakin, but far too many stickers for me!
  21. Lobot is one of my favourite characters in The Empire Strikes Back. Although he doesn’t do much, I like the idea that he was linked directly with Bespin's main computer system (via his headband attachment), and he also looks great as a minifigure!
  22. I finally ordered a new K-3PO today from Ebay. I've wanted him for ages but I couldn’t bring myself to pay the going rate for a new & sealed 7666, so I decided to get him separately.
  23. Hi, I’m from the UK & in my mid-thirties. I was completely obsessed by Lego when I was a child & my collection gradually evolved from Space to the first Technic sets. Then a couple of years ago my lovely wife bought me the UCS motorised AT-AT and it re-kindled my love of Star Wars & Lego (which she has regretted a lot! ). After collecting an entire set of vintage figures, I’ve focused on Star Wars Lego. I love the original trilogy sets, especially UCS; I also own a UCS Imperial Shuttle & a UCS Millennium Falcon, which is my pride & joy! My favourite SW film is the Empire Strikes Back; it has three of my favourite settings (Hoth, Bespin City & Dagobah). My favourite characters are Yoda, the Emperor & Lobot.....! Cheers, Robin
  24. Simply superb, a truly beautiful creation. This is one of the very best MOCs that I’ve seen; the detail is breathtaking. I don’t think that it would be possible to improve this in any way, and it’s great that you used Technic LEDs, to keep it 100% Lego. I’m really looking forward to seeing the video of this!
  25. I’m not too sure what to make of this; the Bacta tank & Medical area look really good, although it reminds me of Home One (7754) which I bought & really regretted! I appreciate that it’s a play set, but I had really high hopes; perhaps they were a little too high. I guess that’s Brickplummer’s fault! I’m not too sure about R-3PO, I was hoping that they would re-issue K-3PO as I missed 7666 (and I refuse to pay the current Ebay price for a sealed set!)
