You can easily swap 7 of them which was discussed a little earlier.

Yes . I did eventually see this and it's what I'll be going to do.

I've found a local guy willing to Chrome plate nickle silver etc my bricklink Porsche wheels and the air scoop for the exhaust. I'm 70% there. Ran out of budget this month , paid in 3 weeks hopeful to have enough to get final parts .

  2. Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Angled #3 - 157.5 degrees - in orange are now getting very hard to source locally in the UK - might have to build mine without these and change to other colours until they become available again. I've already had to buy a green air scoop, which i'll have to spray paint..

Once I know I "can" build this I'll get the instructions, just hope changing number 3 angled connector won't ruin its looks too much.

  3. I love this model, I'm trying to price it up with a spare Technic Porsche GT3 - the number 3 connectors are getting hard to source - and I have to paint the wheels? Sorry, which paint would anyone recommend? I'm good with a spray can, so no issue re-painting some wheels if needed, but what colour is everyone using?

You misunderstood me, there are only 1(!) seller in the whole world and he is in Canada. It´s for sale for  ~9 dollars. I live in Sweden so shipping are really expensive.

Agree - another part I'll have to use a different colour, hopefully won't matter too much .

    Oh my god....

I just realized the Jawa Sandcrawler is £110 ?!??!

The Red 5 X Wing is £89.99 for 730 parts, and I'm sorry but much as I love my Lego sets on release - I'm waiting this out for better prices, I collect Star Wars, Creator Expert and Technic and the sets are becoming very expensive, so time to wait it out for better deals. Poes X wing was I think £69.99 on release. Might be wrong.

There is quite a lot of pieces that don't exist on this MOC, or are quite rare.
I am in the process of building it and I updated the lxf with my modifications, but since I haven't finished the build yet I'm not quite sure my tweaks all work as expected.

Still, PM me if you want my lxf ;)

Thank you, I managed to make an XML of the parts and import into bricklink, can get 98% in the UK today for under £200 - replaced a few rare colours with dark grey but other then this looks like I can build this, so many thanks you helped me a lot.

Ah well thats a bit of an issue then if some parts simply do not exist. I'll PM you with email addy - as any help would be appreciated, as this model is a decent size and part count compared to other frigates that are IMO to large. Thank you.

  7. Sorry for restoring such an old thread, I got the LXF file LDD from ultimatecollectorstickers.co.uk as I really want to build this however uploading the file to bricklink to get a parts list to help me make a wanted list to buy the parts results in this -

The following items in the XML file are invalid or do not exist in the Bricklink Catalog.

    Please fix the following errors:

    • Item No: 2714
    • Item No: 30361pb04
    • Item No: 3626bpb432
    • Item No: 3626bpb121
    • Item No: 3626bpb242

Any ideas - has anyone got a XML or something to help me buy the parts? I like this MOC and really wanted to try and build it.

  8. Black and Grey. I am not happy with the 2L red axles are all. The yellow 3L are not as nice either, nearly all my Technic sets I've swapped out the Red and Yellow Axles where visible for black or grey.

The Class Tractor Attachment looked dreadful with the Red 2L Axles , and The Mack Anthem was horrendous with all the yellow, red Axles, swapped them all for black etc.

I think many people underestimate the amount of kids (and maybe even AFOLs) that build digitally, even for the A-model. For the B-model, we don't even have the choice.

And without a  1-on-1 representation on paper, colour-coding has appeared to be the next best thing. I don't ~like~ it, but TBH, I don't mind either.

That sadly is the issue. Its coloured coded to identity. I've worked out the sizes just by looking, as I build so many Technic Sets, but kids and new comers, the colours do help. Axles are so cheap on Bricklink, I just bulk buy black n grey and I have a huge collection of red and yellow sat around doing not much.

I've only built Box 1, bags 1-3, so far and I've enjoyed the process of the Modular build. I was planning on building the Chiron completely as per the instructions before MODs but my OCD wouldn't let me and I've made the rear suspension assemblies as symmetrical rather than duplicate assemblies. It took a few hours but I'm doing a slow careful build and enjoying the quality of the instructions and complexity of the model. I think I did a slow hour building the gearbox module as I was working out its relationships/mechanism as it was being slowly built up.

I'm hoping to have a crack at building box 2 this week, but didn't get a chance last night and I'm off out tonight.

For some context I've got the Porsche but not built it yet and I work in the Engineering end of the Car Industry (a production line is a short walk from my desk)

For the Porsche I'm going to build it with the Eurobricks light MOD/fix pack.

Same as me, I am a slow gradual builder, I like to see how it works, build in sections, check it works like it should, fit wheels before model is finished, and push it around, or if using motors test etc.. It takes me a lot longer to build my Technic models. I spend hours on them, but least we get our monies worth eh?

  10. I would hope the Chiron would be better, you'd expect each new set from Lego of this type to slowly improve and make changes and introduce new parts, techniques.

Right from the early first Technic super car 8860 - to today each set should be a new challenge and bring new ground. I have both, but only just got around to building the Porsche, I look forward to the Bugatti next.

    Good video BTW

Coincidence! I also ordered the missing pieces as well as the printed parts. While waiting for the price of the Chiron to drop, I decided to build the ultimate Porsche. I hope somebody will do the same for the Chiron ...

    I'm nearly done

I just hope we can all make the Bugatti as good as this turned out soon as modders etc get their minds on it... As this is an amazing model now, and I'm sure the Bugatti will have its flaws fixed eventually.

  12. Regarding the Porsche - https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-8003/jb70/42056-pimp-up-my-porsche/#parts a lot of what was wrong with that model was fixed eventually by mods.

I suspect the Chiron will get the same treatment, and the suspension will be fixed and improvements will be made.  I will wait for improvements before I would attempt to build if you don't know how to fix yourself. That would by my plan.

Listening to podcast now, part 4.

Gearbox designer calls new orange piece "a wave selector gear". Should we stick to this name?

maybe, sounds like it might end up being the name used for it..

Right, I'm looking at this and thinking, can I buy this set and another GTR 911 and use the panels from this for the GTR as I love the colour scheme, I think a GTR in blue like this would look fantastic.. Could be expensive lol hopefully bricklink gets the panels and there is the ones needed to change the GTR from orange to blue..

  14. This looks gorgeous - just blown my Lego monthly budget on a Lego UCS Millennium Falcon at £650 UK so this will have to wait till I have more funds, but I will 100% be getting this set. Loving the colours, not liking the stickers so much sadly.  A set of this size and expensie should not have stickers, but then the UCS Millennium Falcon has stickers, so oh well.

Loving the brake discs, I think this is an amazing looking Lego Technic model.

  15. its not that bad, I think one of the biggest issues lately with Technic sets, something I sought to fix in the Mack 2018 set just released is the over used coloured axels.

Red, Yellow, Black, Gray, I swapped nearly all of them with Black, the red 2L do my head in, as they are so obvious when you look at the model, I think if Lego want these sets to look more realistic then ditch the colour coded axels, and use just black - when I swapped out the red and yellow axels in the Mack Anthem it made a huge difference to how it looked.

I do get these are still toys for 12 - 16 year old teenage kids, so I guess as Adults we can look to reduce the colour vomit as its so called and swap out parts for colours we find more appealing ?

  16. maybe not that popular - maybe why the line is looking to be now cancelled but I'm trying to find and complete the Star Wars Buildable figures right now. and just picked up Boba Fett and found Luke Skywalker and Obi Wan for a decent price.

I need around another 10 or so to complete the collection, and now they are discontinued as a line, I really do want to collect the whole set, just so I have them all  - for no reason other then owning a entire line of Lego Star Wars Sets : -  )  As I'm missing a good few rather expensive ones from my UCS collection.
