  1. I'm probably going to get the castle as I want all the figures (minus Tiana) and I'm betting that will be an expense in itself so might as well get some actual building time out of it. I actually much prefer this design with the Gold and light nougat colour scheme and the smoother pillars. Trouble is, I would want to place all the minifigures inside the castle to display them but then they would be against a wall. Turning the castle inside outwards to display though would probably look a bit silly. :sceptic:

  2. I can't say this one is working for me. The forced perspective is too forced with the minifigures that close to the scene and despite the arguably good part usage with the hairpieces as trees unfortunately all I can see is hairpieces. I will want to get Wendy, as I'm sure will most and as I'm sure Lego are banking on having already given us Pan and Tink in the train set. Price is getting beyond a joke though. If Lego knows they are starting to outprice their current buyers, but are aiming for a different market with more cash that kind of implies disdain for the loyalty of all those AFOLS who have been buying their product for years. As ever, not a dig at the designer(s) who I'm sure were given a brief and did their best with it, but I don't think we should feel the need to say everything is awesome purely because it's Lego.

I've been pondering that too. Given what figures from large new sets have gone for in the past, it may be worth getting and selling the figures to be left with a lot of very useful bricks to build things with.

Yes possibly. It's rarer I think that people want to do it that way around so you might be on to something if you can catch that first wind of high sales and you would like a lot of the bricks.

LWith the way all the Youtube influencers are raving about current sets, you watch and Lego will soon give us a Belle and Beast in mech form. LOL

    Well that's tonight's nightmare sorted. :head_back:

I was really looking forward to seeing the castle and I'm not convinced with what has been leaked. I don't have space to keep it and if there are only 7 new figures, I might end up just buying the figures alone.

I can just imagine what the figs alone will sell for though. It will be one of those you might as well have just buy the whole set scenarios I think. :sadnew:

Hard to tell. Going from the rumoured 12 down to 8 would be quite a letdown, even though the 8 confirmed ones all look great!

Also, Belle not being in any of the sets would be quite silly. She‘s the only major classic princess missing, we just got Gaston plus the Lumière and Cogsworth buildable figures, and there‘s a BatB reference in the castle :shrug_oh_well:

8 would definitely be a let down and make the celebrations rather fall flat when you think of the rumoured 22 minifigures in the new Avengers Tower. Even 12 could be better. As for Belle, she's also one of the tiles shown on the 100 Years of Disney Animation box front artwork. Granted Elsa and Jasmine are there too, but they do already have minifigures.

Are we thinking official reveal for the castle today or more like next week?

  6. I feel like the castle is where the heroes get to hang out and the villains have to make do with a pile of giant objects.

So we still don't know the last two minifigures or have I forgotten a pair? As far as I can tell we are getting Snow White, Prince Florian, Cinderella, Prince Charming, Princess Aurora, Prince Philip, Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Rapunzel and Eugene?  So that leaves two.

A picture of the back of the castle leaked in the usual place. Rapunzel and Eugene are included!! :excited:

Yes! That's awesome. I do wonder why we got Tiana in a green dress in the CMF though when she seems to be in the same colour here. :sceptic:

    The fireworks are cute though.

I definitely wouldn‘t mind another set in the Villain Icons style, be it heroes or more villains  It looks great on display and the minifigs are simply amazing. They fit in extremely well with the CMF series!

I've just finished building after finally receiving my preorder yesterday. It was such a fun build; some interesting techniques, but not too hard at all and a lot of proper bricks so felt quite old school which adds to the nostalgic charm. I love flipping open the VHS top and all the little hidey holes. The printed clock face is also a lovely little print from one of my childhood favourites. I've got it on display now with all my classic animation villains from both the set and the CMF series: Maleficent, Genie Jafar, Gaston, both forms of the Evil Queen, Ursula, Cruella, Queen Of Hearts, Cheshire Cat, Captain Hook and Dr Facilier. It looks fantastic and so colourful and I just need to get a Series 2 Jafar and Hades and it will be complete (until they do more classic villains). A heroes version would be amazing to go with as it's makes for such a great way to display figures.

Who would you all put in a villains 2 set? Excluding CMF villains.

Lion King is probably what I'd like to see most currently, even if it's just the newest Lion mold recycled/printed for Scar and Simba (and of course Timon and Pumba).

Scar, Shere Khan, Mother Gothel, Governor Ratcliffe (with Percy), Shan Yu, Lady Tremaine and Prince Hans are the notable exclusions I think from classic movies.

I like what they're going for with both of these sets - display pieces that also work for play and aren't so drilled down into being a display like the Star Wars dioramas.

But with Superheroes the appeal always comes down to the Minifigures, and there are some significant misses.

Everybody has gone into detail already about Green Goblin, but to be honest the Tobey and Andrew Spider-Man figures look way too similar to me. Those suits actually look fairly different in the films, and LEGO should've gone after what sets them apart and heightened those details. As it is, it's like the same figure with minor print differences. And of course all characters needed leg printing.

As for the Endgame set, yeah it needed Rescue at least, not just lots of recycled figs. At least Wanda is a bit better than other recent versions.

Overall, even if I'm not buying much of this theme, I'd still like every new release to make me go "wow!" And not "wow, how small is that set and how underdetailed are those figures".

This is me exactly. I've got into Marvel a lot more over the past couple of years and I was just ready to start dropping some more money on the theme after the Sanctum and Benatar, but these are making me hesitant. I like the idea of display pieces that can be playable, but the sets are just too chaotic for me to feel like they are displayable without some kind of plaque to help centralise the vision. The Star Wars dioramas feel really clean to me and whilst I don't want every set to be so cookie cutter, these sets are just missing the mark for me. As some one new to the theme, the figure sections aren't bad as you get quite a few figs you'd have to source from various other sets otherwise, but at the same time the Avengers set is a little underwhelming. Rescue would have made a really cool and colourful addition, but you don't really have to look close to realise the the figs are a combination of other sets figures precisely because they are recycled. The budget feels a little tight this year what with the Guardians' figs basically being clones in all but heads. I hoping the D2C gives me more of that WOW! moment.

Tesco has Groot for £27 up until the 14th of June, although he's only in stock in bigger stores. There was also a voucher code for £5 off £25 on Lego, I'm pretty sure that one works too.

I managed to get this too! First time ever my Tesco has come through for me, which is amazing considering they have downsized the Lego section recently in my store. :hmpf_bad: I built him and proceeded to take photos of him posing around the house with different items and his is totally adorable.  He's going to be hanging out with Dobby in a week or so, but he might have to make another new friend in August. :sweet:
