LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
BacktoBricks replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah exactly. As a prequel era baby, I think this wave may be pure nostalgia for me. But on the other hand, I was technically introduced to the originals before the prequels and I love both. A wave of solid original trilogy sets would have made me happy too, but it is so good to see some prequel love. And I understand that there will be those who don't like the PT or TCW, but there is no doubt that their time will surely roll around again pretty soon. -

I suppose if the prequel era isn't for you then this wave may be a solid pass, but for those of us that do love the prequels then I'd say it's pretty promising. -

Okay thank you. I thought you must be ever so good to make out the figures from that image lol. Interesting that we don't see a Magnaguard as that seemed like a popular figure, but if it's Cody instead I'm not complaining. -

Do you know the rough figure selection from other sources or are you guessing from the picture? :) -

I'd say both, purely because the new season of TCW will overlap with ROTS and Lego seems to have ditched the old TCW style figures, so the Grievous will be the same white one of late probably. -

Jang showed himself getting an extra set of horns with his Bantha set so I think so. ? Perfect set for finishing off all those Wampas and Tauntauns that seem to be floating around without any horns. ? -

The thing is, you just can't please everyone, especially as Lego has had to spread the Star Wars sets over much more content in the past few years. Many people, myself included have wanted Lego to show some more prequel love (and I include TPM in this statement) so I feel more optimistic than ominous about this year. That's not to say of course that I will like or totally agree with the direction Lego takes with any new prequel sets, but it feels like a step in the right direction to me. Add this to the fact that the Republic Gunship has been put into the mix for the UCS vote and it feels like Lego may be recognising that there is enough desire for more prequel content. It's good to see that prequel sets don't automatically = hate. :) -

I could see them releasing a Dooku vs Yoda set again as a little battle scene. Been a few years since we got a Dooku; his lightsaber is still chrome plated after all. Or at least some of them still will be ... -

Honestly, this makes me happy. I thought last year would be kind to the prequels what with TPM anniversary, but it was a let down to say the least. So as a prequel baby I'm looking forward to seeing what this year brings. -

I'm calling it ... Gungan Sub, Flash Speeder, Naboo Starfighter, AAT. (I actually love the prequels lol). But then again, what about the droid attack on the wookiee? Homing Spider Droid. Not had one since 2016 after all. ? I know right, it feels like we should all go into hibernation. Then again, it has piqued my curiosity ... Like you say, what could be that bad? Nah it's too cold in here already. -

Jedi Bob is the Jedi Knight minifigure included in the original Republic Gunship set 7163. Since nobody could relate him to a specific Jedi from the movie he is now affectionately known as Jedi Bob by fans. -

? That's interesting about the Hasbro poll. Fortunately I think there is enough desire for the Gunship that it would sell well regardless. I personally voted for the Gunship because yes I did want to signal to Lego that we need more prequel era sets, but also because I would be interested in buying the set. -

All of the new Star Wars sets from the end of 2019 / beginning of 2020 have used the old style capes. I haven't bought any sets from other themes so I can't really comment as to whether this seems to be a definitive change across the board or a SW thing. Anyone else have thoughts on this? I definitely prefer the soft capes too. -

I know! Then what will we do. Seriously though, we could obviously just wait for the sets to come out and then enjoy them, but this whole leaks and discussion thing just adds a whole other level of enjoyment. I saw this page a few weeks ago and all I can say is, they better not be exaggerating getting our hopes up like this! -

I'm thinking maybe the best we can hope for is if someone leaks info of what they see at the London Toy Fair at the end of this month. Trouble is, leakers have become scarcer on here and in the Star Wars forum now because of the vitriol they have received. :( -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Found an interesting item available on B&P this afternoon; Kylo Ren's crossed lightsaber blade is available to buy. I don't think it's always been available and I thought it would be classed as a Star Wars piece and be unavailable. -

Does (not) enjoying a movie/series influence your purchase decisions?
BacktoBricks replied to Flieger's topic in LEGO Star Wars
My love or not of the media attached to sets definitely affects my decisions. For me, I buy sets specifically because of how I feel about the media. Sets and material objects only hold value to me because of the memories or feelings attached. Each set I own is a bit like a memory capsule, not only because of how I feel about the source material, but because I can almost always recall when, where and how I was feeling when I built a set. So until I saw The Rise of Skywalker I had no attachment to the new sets apart from the fact that they are Star Wars. That was enough for me to want to add the minifigures to my collection, but it wasn't until I saw, and mostly liked, the movie that I decided I wish to add some of the sets to my display too. -

I guess they made the Tie Dagger instead because of how similar the Whisper is to Vonreg's Tie. Still it would be great to get the Whisper even though ... -
Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you're all having a great day and that some Harry Potter Lego has made its way to you :)
