It’s not about not wanting other people to have them as much as just wanting there to be more unique minifigures. It’s not that I want any given figure to be rare, but that I would always rather that every new set had new figures instead of repeating something. Having all the 3POs be the detailed one is less interesting than having multiple variants—there should be exclusives in cheap sets too. Obviously with characters like 3PO or Chewbacca there are way fewer reasonable variants than there are figures in sets, so those are always going to be repeated, and that doesn’t go for army building figures (to the same degree, anyway… glad to have multiples of the same clone unit in one set, but I’d still rather have new units than repeat one in a new set); but broadly speaking I would like it if they released more new figures, which inherently means more exclusives (or drastically increasing the number of figures per set, which I would also support).

I don't see how having multiple inferior variants of what's meant to be the exact same character design is more "interesting". I get the desire for new figures but eventually you get to a point of if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and don't intentionally break it either. If you're downgrading a design that's already fine as is just for the sake of making exclusives, you're cheating customers out of being able to get a better version of a figure just because they're not interested in a single set or unwilling to pay often excessive prices online for the figure loose. The fans aren't going to be happy with that, Vader's short-lived arm printing comes to mind. I can't imagine it's all that cheap to constantly be switching up printing just for the sake of it either.

Yes. They do. Nothing spectacular but yes.

You bring up a good point with lots of Mario characters being "nonhuman." That would be tricky/expensive. LEGO was generous with molds in the Sesame Street set but unfortunately so many significant new molds in a new cmf series could be a problem. But again I'm guessing Muppets will include lots of new molds.

I don't think it would be an issue since a lot of new molds were introduced in the Looney Tunes CMF.

Maybe LEGO is running out of licenses to use in the CMF theme? Simpsons, Disney & probably Harry Potter are all "dead" themes for CMF?

I wouldn't worry about Disney just yet, we are still getting CMFs based on Disney properties (Marvel last year, Muppets this year) so they probably just don't want to overload a single year with Disney-based CMFs. I could see us getting Disney Series 3 next year, unless Marvel Series 2 or a Star Wars CMF happens.

I think fans are disappointed because instead of p2 variants we're getting p1 variants of two popular characters and we've also lost the only prequel set of the wave. In addition, we can't army build with the set anymore since there will be named characters and this confirms that BPs will be our only army builders and those are also more expensive. I'm still happy with the set but those are the reasons why people are still complaining.

I mean yeah, Phase 2 would've been nice, I hope we still get them eventually since Rex's current Phase 2 minifig is pretty bad and Cody's is nonexistent, but realistically that wasn't going to happen since we'd need at least one new helmet mold for that which doesn't happen in accessory packs as far as I'm aware. Is there that much disconnect between fans who want strictly PT vs. TCW sets, though?

Personally I'm glad that accessory packs aren't being used as army builders since we already have battle packs anyway (I'm with you on the price increase, though) and it gives us an opportunity to get characters who are less likely to appear in sets. Starting off with P1 Cody and Rex in one of the first accessory packs shows that there's a lot of opportunities here. Who knows, maybe this will finally end up being the answer to all the fans clamoring for an Aunt Beru minifig.

There's reasons to be disappointed and I'm not going to say anyone shouldn't be, but some people are acting like this is the end of the world when it really isn't. Now if we were getting an accessory pack with Luke, Obi-Wan, and 3PO instead, that might be a different story...

  5. Things really caught on fire here didn't they...

I'm happy to get P1 Rex and Cody, it's been 10 years since we got both of them and those were heavily stylized versions that are very outdated now. Honestly I did want them (like actually wanted them, not the "oh they're bringing them back that's cool" way) but I never expected Lego to go back and remake them. Between this and Anakin's Starfighter from 2018 it's nice to see that Lego is still willing to make things from the earlier seasons of TCW from time to time. If we keep getting accessory packs I think this bodes pretty well for them.

Funny that we're getting minifigs of two popular Clone Wars characters in a cheap set with variants that haven't been made in a decade and people are still complaining that Lego is clueless and hates the fans. You really can't please Lego Star Wars fans, can you?

The Batwing came out in November, these Tumbler sets are rumoured to be coming out in October. There's still time, who knows maybe LEGO has a tighter grasp on leaks now?

And the Batmobile took so long to leak that a lot of people here started worrying that it was cancelled. There's not much consistency with leaks.

The minifigures itself I have mixed feelings for. Maul looks absolutely amazing, I love all the prints and his new face. My only nitpick is that they haven't used the longer hilt for his lightsaber. Like come on Lego, it exists now, so use it.

Unfortunately they've already gone on record as saying they didn't even consider doing this because the current hilt piece is "too synonymous" with lightsabers, so it probably won't happen in future sets either. It wouldn't be such a big deal if the piece was available in the right color in a different set... I guess we'll just have to keep waiting.

Maybe I'm just getting paranoid, but I'm starting to get the feeling that given how the Mario sets have only been released in very specific, far-apart waves, and how long it has taken to get any info, does anyone think Peach's Castle may actually be fake? The fact that white masonry bricks are still available is the best evidence, but given the insane amount of leaks for everything, is this possibly false info to set us off? Has that ever happened in previous years? A rumored or "leaked" set that ended up never getting confirmed?

I remember this happening with the UCS Batmobile a few years back where people started panicking that it wasn't leaked/revealed months ahead of time (eventually it was, obviously). Leaks are weird and inconsistent, so in my opinion it's best to wait until after the set is supposed to be released with no news to start getting worried about a cancellation.

More silly Goomba hats is a fun idea. I didn’t see a goomba tower (goombas standing on eachother) as well now i think of it. A lady goomba could fall in love with it.
could it be that the hand is grabbing mario and putting him back at the start of the level? A bit like those Zelda-hands? I don’t really remember big hands in airships

The giant hand comes from New Super Mario Bros. U, in some levels it acts as an obstacle by coming from above and punching the ground below. It also throws the characters different places in cutscenes.

  10. Okay, I wasn't planning on buying any Mario sets unless they started doing minifig-based stuff but that's definitely tempting. It genuinely looks like a proper set. I'm only hesitant because if they start doing minifig-based sets I can definitely see them doing another airship with desirable figures...

I watched it about a year ago...the pandemic, man .  I will say, it actually gets more watchable about halfway through, there's a cartoon part that's decent and then the second half at least has some action happening, whereas the first half contains things like "Watching Chewbacca's family sit and talk to each other in Wookiee language for ten minutes" or classic lines such as "I don't like fish."

In regards to that Maul leak, does anyone know if the saber was correct that he had?  The leak gave him a normal lightsaber piece, which would seem strange since they already have a piece that would work perfectly for a double-bladed one.  I feel like it might be the person who took the picture giving him the wrong lightsaber.  At least, I hope so.

I have no info regarding the set but leaked minifigs often have incorrect or missing accessories, so it's definitely possible that it's just a lightsaber that the leaker already had/put together with spare parts. I really hope they use that new piece for him.

That's true. Nobody really knows what to expect with these films being pushed back and how that affects merchandise and advertisement

Though I'm currently more excited for the closer sets first, especially this scale Tumbler.

I doubt we'd see Two Face as no matter what rating Dark Knight is (cba to check), he's a tad gory. Would love to see Scarecrow and Ra's, been a while since we had Scarecrow in any set

The Dark Knight version of Two-Face in Lego Batman 3 just reuses his normal 2012 face print, if they made him as an actual minifig they might just recycle his 2019 face print.

That being said, I'm not sure this version of Two-Face being gory is much of an issue when they were fine having his skull exposed for the TLBM variant.
