    MOC: Wolfpack On A Break

The entrance to the coalmine is excellent, and I really love the waterfall as well. The flowers really add an overgrown dimension to the area - great work!

Its not a bad life for the Red Coats!

This is a really nicely made MOC, and I really like the advert idea - very funny.
  3. I've just finished mine and I (reluctantly) decided to apply the stickers because I was a tad disappointed with the light, and the difference is significant. If you're interested in the lighthouse operating to its full capacity, I would say it's worth doing and buying an extra of each brick off Bricklink or something for the other builds.

    MOC: New Holland Honeyeater

This is unreal - I didn't expect to see something of this size when I opened the thread. The details are wonderful, especially the talons.

    WW Category 2: Nobody's Town

There's some great details in this entry, particularly the man in the bath, the skulls on the buildings (very clever) and I really like the tiling effect you've used too. I also like the 'keep out' arch, and the way you've made the Saloon and Hotel signs. Brilliant stuff.

    MOC: Diesel Shunter

No, I meant Peter Sam - I'm old! You can see him below in his red colours with the special funnel. However, you're quite right, Peter Sam in the television show was painted green (I imagine to make it easier for children to distinguish between the trains) and the new series of books, which you've linked below, have followed that format... but in the original books, he was red. Although, funnel aside, the build actually looks far more like Rheneas - I'd forgotten that Peter Sam had the large curved body.
  7. I love the curved, inclined street and I think the detail of the mine is excellent. The mine shaft really adds to the feel of the town. Great work.

    MOC: Diesel Shunter

The steamy looks like Peter Sam (the book version which was red) to me; he's got the special funnel that helped him to steam...but I'm not sure if that's meant to be him. Both pieces are excellent. An Island of Sodor topic would be brilliant!

The Dark Ages are over! Martys back in Lego Town

It's a great bit of history having both of those train shots. I'm sure your son will appreciate those when he's grown up. I'm slightly amused by the fact that my older brother is only a couple of years younger than you, and I've got a picture of him on Christmas morning (maybe even the same year) in the same pyjamas, also holding a train. (Although, alas, his was Hornby and not Lego!)

    What's in a name ???

I was stuck for inspiration (I tend to use different names on every site that I'm on). I was watching a football match whilst I was signing up, and one of the footballers was playing excellently - so I stole his first name as a homage!

    Rebrickable - new lego site

I really like your site and I've found it useful. It looks like you've got a big task ahead of you adding all of the sets, but once you have done, I know I'll find it even more useful! Great work, and thanks for sharing it with us.

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?

Thanks for the information. Big Cam - I think this is the site: http://www.brickbuildr.com/view/pab/ - but it hasn't got Liverpool listed yet. I wish I'd noted down what was in Cardiff but I can only half remember, so it wouldn't be much help, I don't think.
  13. I agree with Gareth; that's a great picture and I like all of the backgrounds that you've used. Maybe it's just me, but when I opened this thread, my attention was drawn to the waterfall and then your eye follows the water down to the guy on the horse...so it wasn't until I read your blurb that I spotted the shadowy bounty hunter in the top right corner. I thought that was excellent, and really representative of what a bounty hunter is like.

Brilliant work - instantly recognisable as Percy!

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?

Sorry, I think I'm reading your post incorrectly - have they got 1x1s, or not at all? I'm going to Liverpool next week, solely to take a look at their PAB wall. I got a few interesting pieces from Westfield (gates, doors, safes, postboxes, fire, antennas) but I was a tad disappointed because I really wanted flat tiles. I went to Cardiff the other week and stocked up on 1x1 bricks and the odd other piece I needed (like lifting rings)...but mostly 1x1s. So maybe it'll just be another haul of 1x1s then. If that's so, I think I'll just get the one cup because it's over-egging the pudding otherwise! It doesn't seem likely that flat tiles are ever going to be in the walls over here, which seems such a shame when you see what some guys from the US come back with in their cups. Buying flat tiles brick by brick is so expensive, especially as I don't know exactly how many I want.

    Sand Blue Green Grocer

I think the sandblue and red curtains goes together quite well; but the tan looks slightly out of place. Maybe white or dark grey would look better? I would change the canopy from blue to maybe green or red, because that seems to clash with the sandblue a bit. Looks brilliant though; great work.

WW Category 2: 1908 Wild West Town

This is phenomenal. All of the details are wonderful.

    Modular Fire Station

I'm really impressed you did such a good job with a random selection of bricks from your collection.

    Imperial Outpost

I like this very much; as the other two posters have said, this would be believable if you posted it up as a 'lost' official set from the 90s.

Your favorite part of building a set?

I'm not a massive fan of building minifigs, but it's a special part of the build for me - probably because it's the first step, so you've got the satisfaction of knowing that you've already sorted the bricks (if sorting was needed), you've got the whole build ahead of you but you have finally started to put it all together! My favourite bit is usually somewhere in the middle, when you see the first few steps (which aren't clearly one thing or another) turn into something that closely resembles the finished product...that moment when it becomes clear to someone who hasn't seen the instructions what it is that you're building.

    REVIEW: 4182 The Cannibal Escape

When I first saw the releases of POTC, I thought that London Escape was going to be my set of choice - but when I saw it up close, I wasn't quite as impressed...I probably will get it, but not at its release price. However, this review really intrigued me and I liked the idea of the bone cage. The original Islanders theme has some of my favourite sets in it, so I was quite keen to get hold of the bones and the spit to use in Islander builds. I waited for a good price, and got a great one (£15) and I haven't been disappointed. I have mostly been building sets with 600+ pieces, so I thought that I wouldn't be that engrossed by a smaller set but I found it great fun to build. I thought that the tree structure was the most fun part and it looks excellent when it has been built. The bone cage is cleverly put together and the quality of the minifigures (Jack's face is worth noting, and I was impressed that the two cannibals were different and not generic) is really excellent. Similarly, even the multi-coloured parrot made me grin! I was prepared to be disappointed by this set, thinking that it was going to be too small but it looks fantastic now that it's up, and I really enjoyed building it. I highly recommend this set - if you can find it on sale, all the better!
  22. What I can't get over is the quality of what you're building. The scale is one thing, but if you'd posted all of this little creations up as their own topics, people would've been amazed anyway. The fact that you keep doing it over and over again means that the final thing is going to be of a quality that most builders only dream of. Brilliant.
  23. I've been buying old sets off eBay for a while now, and I always take care to look at the pictures, check feedback etc. I've had a few sets that have had pieces missing, but all of those sets were advertised as such. I bought a set the other night that was advertised as 100% complete, when it's anything but. It has the instruction manual with it and the set was built to be photographed, so there's no excuse for it to have been advertised as 100% complete if the seller didn't have those bricks. It's not even a case of having replacement pieces (and there are a few of those - e.g. a grey 2 x 4 brick instead of a black one, or two 1 x 2 bricks instead of one 1 x 4 brick etc) - but where there are just parts that aren't in the box at all. I'd say around 15% of the set is missing. I've contacted the seller, but in 9 years of using eBay, this is only the second time I've ever had a problem with the item not being as described. I'm just wondering how many of you had a positive resolution when there have been missing Lego pieces, or how many of you resorted to leaving negative feedback (which I'm not keen on doing)? Did eBay offer any assistance?

    MOC: Marooner's Lagoon

This is wonderful - I particularly like your water technique, and the landscaping (the design of the rocks and the sand) is very easy on the eye. Great work.

    MOC: modular police station

This is really impressive, and would make a great addition to any modular layout.
