I know it was discussed a lot with the UCS set but how much would the Hogwarts Express coming in dark red make the new set more appealing for people?
I'd definitely see more value in the set if that was the case as I've been considering modding the 2018 set with dark red pieces.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest to get a Narcissa Malfoy in the Battle of Hogwarts set. She isn't involved in the actual fighting, but most of her screentime from the entire series is during the day of the battle, lego doesn't seem to lean into the action scenes too heavily and it's as good an opportunity as any to give us arguably the most notable missing character since the 2018 reboot.

Personally I would just like a Diagon Alley-compatible Gringotts bank with maybe a couple of vaults even if not underground. I'm mostly just desperate to add the missing centrepiece to Diagon Alley and in that regard really not fussed about the dragon or mines. Although I think they'd make a great standalone set. No reason we can't get everything combined though - LEGO has had several years to work it out!
Buildable patronus sounds fun and is an easy skip for me thankfully.
Piece counts for WWW and HE are a bit concerning at their price points as I don't think there can be that many large/new pieces.
I was thinking the other day that the new Room of Requirement is actually really decent value for the number of parts and the fact it has 5 new minifigures and a few new pieces for the fiend fyre serpent and the door.

I don't think I'll be convinced of these upcoming sets until a more reliable source confirms them. Nothing personal against @bRICKbRAT of course, their short track record is good and they've made valuable contributions here - we've just had too many false claims in the past!
If true then it's a disappointing and concerning outcome. Firstly, it's a shame in general to get remakes when there are such important locations still missing. For the WWW set, I thought the version in Diagon Alley was perfect so this feels like a wasted opportunity for a Leaky Cauldron or Borgin and Burkes. There would no doubt be new inclusions to set this apart from last time but it feels very unnecessary. The big concern for me is whether it means Gringotts is incompatible with Diagon Alley - I am not fussed about the underground section or dragon at all in a Gringotts set but the bank is the centre piece of Diagon Alley and if LEGO is not to make it compatible then that would be a huge let down.
As for the new Hogwarts Express, this seems again likely to disappoint anyone who purchased the D2C set. If it is able to be motorised I'm sure that would appeal to many and if it's in dark red then that would be a big improvement - however both would raise questions about why it wasn't possible in the D2C. As far as I remember the Hogsmeade station only appears in the 1st and 5th films. I think the version from the 1st film would be much more interesting personally but I'm not sure what scenes from either would be worth depicting.

I've just finished building the Ministry of Magic and feel like this is a vastly underrated set. I've seen it criticised for price, overall size and floor space in each section. But the price per piece isn't bad (and was excellent on the deal I got), it was actually much bigger than I expected and whilst I wish there was more space to add minifigures to each room, I'm happy to compromise there for better value elsewhere.
I also love that it's still an affordable set for kids on a good deal as it's a very desirable location. And this is not to mention that it's packed with details from various scenes, achieves the difficult job of capturing an underground atrium with offices, has one of the best HP minifig selections in any set and makes for a great display piece. For several reasons it's the first time I'm tempted to buy a second copy of a set.
Alongside Grimmauld Place from 2022 I think it's one of the best sets since the reboot.

Thanks! This is excellent, we can only hope! I'm less opposed to customising figs with parts that are released after the figs and this would be a definite edit for me.
-
@ZeLuiz08 another amazing edit! I also thought about the black hair description from the books but somehow the dark brown looks perfect to me. There's no chance you could do Lockhart with the new hairpiece in either tan or medium nougat... no pressure, I'd just be really interested to see it.

1 minute ago, krimimimi said:Definitely! I added one as well. I think the cloak was fully half the character. 😆
I love that so many of the minifigs have double-sided faces, but some of the expressions... 😐 Snape's is one where I feel they haven't captured him, and I agree Lockhart is another. But with all those beautiful, OTT costumes, Lockhart if CMF material. They can keep doing series of them and put him in everyone and I doubt I'd be disappointed.
I'd love a CMF that focussed on great costumes. Any Lockhart iteration, Karkaroff's white Yule ball coat, Bill and Fleur wedding attire, Scabior, the Bloody Baron etc.

Wouldn't have thought of this but it's a great shout (and a very good edit!). I don't know if it's because I like the original Riddle minifigs but I think dark brown would be the perfect colour.
-
I think the Lockhart figs have been simultaneously great and a missed opportunity. The prints have been nice if oddly coloured, the cape in the Diagon Alley set is lovely and the nervous facial expression is excellent. However the other facial expression could have done with the eyebrows raised a bit in smug tradition, and the new BTS hair in tan would be a PERFECT addition in my opinion.
1 minute ago, krimimimi said:With the exception of Werewolf Lupin (who had to double as Lupin Lupin 😉), which minifigs had capes that shouldn't have? To the best of my knowledge there were no Muggles, goblins, house elves, statues, suits of amour, chess pieces, half giants or trolls with capes - Muggles probably being the most critical of the lot. Capes were were simply plentiful. 😊
I wish they'd give them a revival. 😕
I avoid trying to change figures where possible but Snape absolutely benefits from a black cape.

Totally agree that a focus on Hogsmeade builds would be brilliant. Signs for the shops, horse and cart, butterbeer wagon, street lamps etc. I enjoyed the microbuilds last year but they're not so useful for mocs.

From the picture of the four students it looks like someone with a pink torso is cut out the frame and possibly someone with a black hairpiece (as well as duplicates of the trio).
-
Wow! Five beautiful figures just leaked from what looks like a Hogsmeade set. Really accurate to the third film and in the case of ABERFORTH(!!!) to DH1.
I have the feeling that could be the advent calendar theme confirmed - but if so then the recoloured hats/new torsos are very generous for such a set. In any case, they are wonderful.
-
I'm interested to see the Hogwarts and Grounds set as I expect LEGO will have done a really nice design for it. However, there's so much great stuff released that it's nice to pass on some. Hopefully there's no minifigures in this or other non-minifigure scale HP sets this summer.

Fang is not on the list for some reason, I imagine he would have featured quite highly had he been on it. Personally, I think Fang would be my number one slot for a new moulded piece in the HP line.

Really interesting to hear everyone's comments on LEGO testing their loyalty. I totally agree that we don't have to buy everything that gets released, but I think LEGO does prey on the fact that people value complete sets of figures etc. A CMF series 3 would be much more consumer friendly than releasing exclusive figures in kids books etc.
@krimimimi I've updated list of missing characters below. This time including a list of "popular" characters based on here: https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/harry-potter-characters
It's had 500,000 votes so a nice big sample size. I've included the figures that have been released since my first list for comparison with the other columns but added a few below for the sake of interest.
Other note: no leaked but as yet unreleased figures marked off (e.g. Rita, Bill, Charlie).

Fun question, I'd say Great hall, Hagrid's hut and Hogwarts Express are essential sets. And I agree with your figs except I'd swap Cedric for Sirius (loving the Sirius overload recently).
On a related note, does anyone else feel like their loyalty to LEGO is being exploited lately? It definitely feels like there are too many sets each year and too many repeats which devalue already owned sets. The new burrow is a prime example, for me the leak is oversized and lacks the charm of a LEGO-ified set location - and it's a very inaccessible way to get a Bill/Charlie figure. I felt the same about the anniversary figures in the Hogwarts Icons sets, I've loved LEGO Harry Potter since the original sets and the 20 year anniversary figures were really cool but releasing mini-figures in a non-minifigure scale set felt a bit exploitative as many don't have interest in non-minifig scale products - especially ones that aren't linked to the anniversary being celebrated.
Anyone agree/disagree?
-
I blame ALL OF YOU for memeing Dobby's sock into existence
D2C Gringotts is awesome, everything else pales in comparison for me beyond this - it was THE set that was missing.
Battle for Hogwarts is also really good news.
And personally I like getting non-minifig scale sets mainly because it saves me money! But also because they do a good job of them and it clearly appeal to other people.

I just don't look at the pictures when I buy it and when it arrives I open the flap without looking at the box as far as possible (once the flap is open there are no visible gifts). It does the job to the extent that around half the gifts are surprises. I get the Star Wars one for the Mrs and it's completely spoiler free for her, lucky duck.
I really enjoy doing it this way and it makes the set feel a lot more valuable but I think it's probably not worth having a separate thread/spoiler warnings. It's no problem avoiding the forum for a while when the reveal comes out.

15 minutes ago, Clone OPatra said:People have already been talking about the advent calendar here plenty.
That's why I was avoiding the forum for a while, to miss that discussion.
7 minutes ago, Accio Lego said:Setting up some common sense guidelines on how to talk about the confirmed advent calendar content seems slightly more manageable.
Spoiler warnings might help. It's not essential that anything change, I'm happy just leaving the forum for a while in the summer when most of the advent calendar chat comes up. I was more just wondering if anyone else does the same and if a separate thread/spoiler warning might be worth it.
-
I don't know if this is the right place to post but how would people feel about having a separate thread for advent calendar discussion next year. Far more than any other sets, I really appreciate the surprise of finding out what's inside the advent calendar. The result is that I avoid this forum for a while in reveal season in the hope of evading spoilers (they still inevitably happen).
Perhaps I'm very much in the minority and people would find it frustrating having a separate thread. However, if it's a popular opinion then maybe the main thread would get more activity from people would otherwise be trying to avoid spoilers plus there would be discussion of the advent calendar in the main thread during advent.

16 hours ago, krimimimi said:@Yope, hadn't you done a list of the characters with screen time / book time that are still missing? Any chance you still have that bookmarked / saved somewhere accessible?
Yes I do, despite the great figure line up of this year we've not ticked off too much of the list. A lot of the very desirable figures we've had are either new variants (Sirius, Tonks, Werewolf Lupin, etc) or figures that aren't prominent enough for the list (Madam Pince, Yaxley, Epilogue kids, etc). So there's still plenty to hope for! Rita Skeeter, Narcissa Malfoy and Fang are top of my list (although I'd love a Peeves in the likeness of the old video games).

I'd love if each Hogwarts banner set included a House ghost, well known student (for marketability) and new student. For example:
- Nearly Headless Nick, Harry Potter, Lee Jordan
- Bloody Baron, Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson
- Grey Lady, Luna/Cho, Michael Corner/Terry Boot
- Fat Friar, Cedric, Ernie Macmillan
Can't wait for the black lake and room of requirement (btw yes there were pixies in DH2 flying around the piles of furniture). DH2 versions of the trio are long overdue and it'll be nice to get a Blaise Zabini fig but the Merperson and Grindylow are by far the most exciting parts of the set descriptions for me.
-
I'm not sure I'm mentally prepared for this. Deathly Hallows sets raise a lot of possibilities for new characters e.g. Narcissa/Mundungus/Aberforth/Bathilda Bagshot/Bill Weasley/Rufus Scrimgeor/many Death eaters etc.
Not too mention new locations like Forest of Dean, Godric's Hollow, Gringotts...

Last summer's wave was revealed on the first Friday of April. So presumably there's a small chance we get a reveal tomorrow?...
Although I think we knew figures etc. by that point last year so maybe that's a tad optimistic.
