Hello All, My daughters birthday is coming up (8) and she and my son are both big into Lego, well so are my wife and I for that matter! Anyhow, she has recently gotten into the Kingdoms theme, and I can surely appreciate that as I used to be big into Castle Lego when I was younger. Anyhow, she really wants a castle for her birthday, however after seeing my Pirate ship build that I did, she requested I build her a castle from scratch. So who would I be to turn her down on that request, and after several BL shipments I recently started on her Castle's entrance. Below are a few pics of the entrance that I started last night. I plant to make this a play friendly castle, as she is only going to be 8, so playability is going to be a big factor with this build. I plan to complete walls off of each side of this entrance, a few towers and she specifically requested I incorporate a stable! I only plan on front and side walls, for ease of play, though I do want this thing to be pretty big and detailed for her. Any and all comments appreciated, ideas too!! BTW ignore the red slotted bricks that the portcullis is currently riding in, I need to place another BL order

Well the big day finally arrived and thankfully the castle was 95% done Anyhow, we suprised her with the castle and she loves it!! I have attached a few pics of the nearly final product, and will post some more later (if she lets me!!)

Getting started in LEGO Trains - What to buy?
serge627 replied to MrTools's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hey Guys and Gals. My kids (and I) are pretty big into Lego. They are 8 and 6 and Lego is probably their favorite thing to play with and build. Actually they are currently rebuilding their Creator houses Anyhow, I am trying to prepare for Christmas and thought that maybe we would pick up a Lego train to go under and around the tree this year. I really like the Emerald Night train thats currently available, but I notice it only comes with one passenger car. What do you guys do to add another car, is there a place that sells the parts you need or do you need to BrickLink the parts? Is the engine strong enough to even pull more than one car? Any and all ideas welcome, Thanks!!- 191 replies

Got a bit of time to do some work on the right wing of the Castle last night. So far I have posted pics of the interior of the front tower. The rear tower is three stories, however I have not put any decor inside of it yet. The back of the tower is open though for playability (for my 7 year old daughter). I put a small room on the right wing wall, not sure what I will be using that for yet. Also under the floor of the right wall are two stalls for horses, and a blacksmith shop behind that. All in all Im happy with how it is coming together.

An Old Vagabond Ambushed By Ninjas MOC

Haha, this is great! I love the detail even in such a small moc. That one has to be the best, I love the look of suprise on the old man as the guys come out of nowhere, I especially like the one in the water! -
Whoa! This is pretty cool, I would love to see it from the defenders perspective.
-
Here you are The tower is supposed to act as a planning and prep area for the castle defense forces. I will be adding a small armory on the ground floor as well. I sure wish the orders would roll in so I can get back to work on this. Its turning out to be a lot of fun and I hope that the end result will be great.
-
Yeah, that would be good! I wish I had the time to do that, but I barely get a minute just to build this thing!! I am really happy with how its turning out. The plan for the sides are to do a two story side wall, with second floor rooms, taking ques from the tops of the market village houses ( or something like that I guess we will see when I start piecing together!) BL orders are in, so I can hopefully get to it again soon.
-
Well guys, I had some BL orders come in and I was able to get some time to work on the Castle for my daughter. Pics don't quite do it justice, but I am really happy with how it is turning out. Of course after this post I will be going back to BL to continue the search for more bricks! In the pics the King and his Queen are being escorted by the First Knight as the peruse the new structure. Several peasants continue work on the west wall as well.

Wow, I usually spend my time in the Pirate Theme section and stumbled onto this area as my daugther is showing interest in the Castle sets. This MOC is extreme and so detailed its great. What a fantastic build. I will definetly be keeping tabs on this. Super cool job! -
