Considering this version took about 2.5 years of development from the initial idea until release, and the fact it was in production back when the Saturn V was being designed and developed, I wouldn't expect them to then release another similar sized D2C set. Plus the designers have been quite clear in the way they've worded this as being an "ultimate version". They certainly aren't acting like they might need to expand upon it.

LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!

I believe the only specifics is that it will likely be the 13th September early VIP release. -
Sorry, I don't have it at hand. But I can tell you that you're in for a lot of cheese slopes. The build is interesting, with some nice references in it. It takes a long time, though.

I think you're a bit confused. They came out a month early in the US only. Which was due to a deal made between TLG and Target. The UK did not get them any earlier than the rest of Europe. I read an interview with some set designers that they were working on the Chamber of Secrets for this wave, but it didn't work out. This was why they included a basilisk in the Great Hall set instead. I'll see if I can find the interview.

I really hope this is the case. In the UK it's been a pain to try and get the Bricktober stuff before (at least in my area). Making it a Lego-specific thing will hopefully make it far simpler to do so

Those Technic connectors are just like the ones in the 1966 Batcave. It holds the 3 main sections of the set together. If Lego intended for there to be an actual extension we would see connection points on the sides or back, which aren't there. I managed to get a pretty good look at the demo one in my local store and there's no logical points to connect anything else. If they did, it would be a completely free-standing set and would (IMO) look bad if you didn't have the first set to go with it.

This is why I think occasional microscale sets would be a good idea. One every couple of years. -
No, they follow the Lego release dates.

Same thing from Bluewater. Glad to have confirmation from another store, because I was worried about showing up on the 15th to find the person I'd asked hadn't been told yet and that they'd pre-allocated all of the sets already. I wonder why the US stores have implemented it but others haven't. Perhaps it's a trial for future VIP releases.

It seems a bit entitled to be getting angry at a company for not announcing something. This is a month with a lot of releases. They just had the DB5 and have the Voltron set coming up next week. They don't want to overshadow those releases with another D2C announcement that may cause people to not buy one of those sets.

From the video: "Price & availability info was not out as of the time of the recording of this video. The first batch of these were given out as promotional items and I bought mine secondhand."

Surely this is no different to the new parts for the Lego Batman Movie releasing in the sets and CMF series at the same time.

It really isn't. You should look into the current currency exchange rates. $3.99 is only about £3.02 at present, and paying £3.99 in the UK is the equivalent of paying $5.27 in the US. Even accounting for tax, the price of £3.99 is more than $3.99

When they were £1.99 it was a great price. £2.99 was hard to justify for some of them. At £3.99 it's just absurd for a single minifigure. $3.99 is not the same as £3.99. They may well sell just fine in America, but considering they were only £1.99 a couple of years ago people will not want to pay twice as much.

Urgh, another £1 price hike on the minifigs? I guess that means I won't be buying them at that price point.

It looks like the launch event in London will come with a special "owners card". An image of that (which may or may not also have an image of the set) is over on Reddit now.
-
1st August was always the release date for the sets. It's not like it has been delayed or we are getting it any later than we originally expected. A deal in America just led to the sets being available a bit early there. At the end of the day, Lego will take the deal (which presumably involved them getting paid) over mildly annoying a relatively small number of people (most people are likely going to be unaware this even happened) since they know we'll all still be buying the sets. Nobody will boycott the product over another market getting a product 31 days before them. If they'd actively delayed the release in the UK, it would be a different situation. Is it really worth it to pay more than the RRP, plus whatever you get hit with in terms of customs and excise?

You have to search for "Harry Potter". The sets are there, they just haven't unlocked the theme in the main menu yet.

That's just the way the brand operates, based on the owner's beliefs. They don't stock things they disagree with, and they don't open on Sundays or bank holidays. It might seem unusual, but they've survived as a national toy store when Toys R Us couldn't. They even have more branches than Toys R Us did before they went bankrupt.

What better way to go undercover than to stick on a fake nipple and hope somebody assumes you're Christopher Lee? In all seriousness, I doubt we'd ever get a realistic representation of the golden gun (beyond a golden coloured version of pre-existing parts). It's a gun, made up of several things including a lighter and cigarette case. Hardly the kind of things Lego would be interested in remaking.
-
The golden gun is from The Man with the Golden Gun. That film did not feature an Aston Martin (in fact the car is somewhat forgettable, besides the ramp stunt), so chances are there will be no golden gun involved.
-
Nope, they typically don't stock "occult" products and they include Harry Potter in that. It's not useless. A lot of us are looking forward to those sets.
