Crazy impressed!  Love the turban for some reason.  The idea from Garmadon has got to happen now too.

Thanks! You can blame Pombe for that idea, lol. It is a great one....dammit.

A very refreshing change to the usual minifig scale MOCs! Not much to say that hasn't already been said, but I do want to mention that the shaping of the artist is simply amazing. The tools and loose plates/bricks on the ground are great touches. Fantastic work!

    Thanks Ayrlego! :classic:

  2. Great roundhouse design and i like the irregular base. I kinda feel though that the right hand side of the base is a little empty - feels like dead space. Maybe a small outcrop of stone or totem or something would helped there? I like your cyclops character and hope we see more of her!

  3. This is so good... the lighting is amazing, especially the way the bottle in the mouth of the kiln glows, and i love the wide shot with the big rack of bottles. Your description of the glass blowing ingredients is interesting too. Question though... what elements are the big tub/barrel with the spout (behind the glass blower) made of? I can't for the life of me figure it out!

  4. Lovely build Little John! I really like all the different levels in the building, and touches like the gently moving curtains in the doorways and the clean fence design around the goat enclosure are perfect. The window arch design is fantastic too - i'll have to try that sometime. The colours are great too - i love the way the pink on the flowering trellis calls out to the mix of earth colours on the ground. Best of luck in the CCC! :classic:

Amazing fig and excellent sculpture, Gabe, you're making this look way easier than it is!   The bandana and sail are especially clever, and I'll second the request for a giant Kaliphlinian chessboard

Damn, well i guess that seals it then... giant chessboard goes onto the build list, heh. Thanks Garmadon!

Really really great work! I love it!

So many little details, from the broad chest, the bandana, the fingers, the stool, the pieces on the floor around the sculpture, it's just an amazing MOC.

This guy is brilliant.  The in progress nature of the sculpture is done so well.  The little details like the tools and stone chips on the floor.  The pose and the way it seems to stroke the statue.  Its really artistic.  Because my puny mind can't cope with it part of my brain processes it as a giant sculpting a statue destined to tower over regular minifigs.  The belt buckle and the hands are also details I keep staring at.

Its amazing what can be done.

Looks amazing! A great breath of fresh air with something completely unique here at GoH! The sculptor himself looks amazing, and the horse he is sculpting looks very nice as well. The stone chunks and different chisels look great too.

oh my this is simply awesome! when I've spotted it on Flickr I've first thought of Eero, indeed, yet there was something different - I think you managed very well to make it your creation  And although the subject is great, I must ask how you got that background.. What was the MOC standing on at the moment of the pic?

Cheers en_zoo! I'm glad to hear that you feel that i have injected some of my own style into the build. :classic: Certainly the face, hands and feet are very much in Eero's footsteps, but beyond that i just muddled around until i got it to somewhere i liked.

The background is just an Ikea blind - a tip that i picked up from Gideon i believe. It is great cause there are no visible seams between foreground and background, which means much less photo editing.

The figure is greatly shaped up, I can’t think of a better representation of a human in this scale! The horse is amazing as well as all the other details! So many great stuff... Keep it up! :classic:

Thanks Modular fan for your kind words! :classic:

This is just so good on so many levels, definitely a welcome change in the otherwise minifig-centred building style here at GoH and a very good build all in it's own :classic:

Cheers Gideon! I had a lot of fun building this, it's nice to break out into a different scale now and again. :classic:

Thanks! I should have clarified before, but that isn't actually water, per se; it's meant to be the the ocean floor, under the actual water (which is shown in the update picture below)....

Ohhh... that makes so much more sense now, sorry, i should have looked at the reference pic first.  (In fact, i think i have that reference pic myself in an 'future builds' folder somewhere, heh) I think i was confused by the shimmering ocean floor... knowing what it is now, it reminds me of those 'pools of death', such as Cenote Angelita in Mexico. The update looks cool - i like the cave, although i'm not a huge fan of the modified facet bricks for angled rockwork.

  7. Lovely build and a great way to round out your contribution to the 'Kaliphlin at Work' collab. :classic: I really like the wall texture on the lower level of the fountain building using the new round plate flower element. The shape of the main entrance to the courtyard on the right hand side is excellent too. Great to see Morphet taking shape!

  8. Very nice indeed!  A very naturalistic  colour palette and wonderful textures. The helmet as a chimney top looks perfect too. As others have said, a window or two wouldn't go astray. I also feel that a more prominently stepped path leading up the hill to the front door would look great too. Best of luck in the CCC! :classic:

  9. A lot of threads have been left hanging in Kaliphlin after the civil war, so the letters are a great idea to move the DK's story on a touch, and get members collaborating. :classic: Sorry it's taken me so long to respond! I will have to make a reply moc, although i'm not quite sure what that will look like yet. I'm guessing Nammuat will be wondering who Muakhah is and just how much influence they actually have.

Regarding the moc, i like the bookcase/lectern thing and the cluttered table. I'm not so sure about the lamp hanging overhead - it looks a little simple for my taste. I find the palm tree top element to be good as a lighting bracket, might be worth experimenting with if you have any.

  10. A lovely build, the low walled compound is a great choice for a stables. The colour accents on the doors and window shutters really draw the eye and the bustle in the roadway is engaging. My only nitpick is that i feel that the columns to the sides of the horse stalls should have been kept tan rather than nougat, but that's just my preference.

  11. Lovely build Pombe, that dome really is something to behold, and the interior is great too - the mosaic is a highlight! The story is fantastic as well and i'm already invested in the next part of Nolana's story. :classic:

The main issues i have with the structure is that the outside of the temple doesn't seem to match the inside somehow. The inside has all these slight steps and sweet alcoves and columns and ornamentation etc, and outside looks a little like a shoebox? It isn't helped either by the way you have the entrance side completely open - which i understand from a photographic point of view, but entrances often have a narrower vestibule etc that might have broken up the boxy feel of the building. Also, i would love to see this building on an irregular base, to show a little of the landscape around it. Trees, passing carts, stalls etc. might have helped to soften the lines of your building a bit.

The dome is really sweet, but i'm guessing that it doesn't cover a hole in the roof, but rather just sits on it? Light coming in from the gaps in the dome might have spotlighted the pool at the back and made for some interesting shots.

  12. A nice addition to Morphet! I agree with others that more texture and evidence of weathering might improve the walls, but the placement frames the scene well and i love the little stall peeking through from the laneway. Regarding the road, i find a mix of round plates or tiles scattered throughout adds to the realism. It doesn't have to be all tan either - light bley accents work well for small stones etc.

Wow! That is amazing, you've outdone yourself!  And I know building figures so well isn't easy, even if you just try to copy Eero, which I've done, lol, while you clearly made your guy very unique, love the colors you gave him.  And then, that horse is dope too, stunning piece of work unquestionably!

Thanks mate, i really appreciate your kind words. Yeah figures are never the easiest, i always find i struggle a bit with the proportions! Looking at Eero's photostream was a massive help.

This is just fantastic Gabe, top-notch brick sculpting on your part!  The figure itself is stellar, what with the color combination on the torso, the natural looking bandana, the sail wrapped around his waist - but then you've got so much more going on here, with a beautiful WIP horse, great stool, and the bench of tools is spot on!

Cheers Kai, glad you like it! I was pretty happy with how the bandanna came out too. At first it looked more like a bike helmet, so i had to tweak it a few times!

I love it when themes cross MOC genres.  Especially great is that horse.  I'm going out on a limb and guessing that he is making a knight piece for a giant chess board that will show up in another Kaliphlin MOC.

Ooo... the chess motif hadn't occurred to me, that's a great idea! I might just have to put that on my build list lol.  Thanks for your kind comment!

Just fantastic man! The shaping of the dude as well as the sculpture is top notch. And all the details with the tools, the cloth, just great overall. :grin_wub:

Cheers adde, glad you like all the details! I had a lot of fun making the table and all his tools.
