    Forestmen Hideout

Lovely! The fish rack is great and the ruins are very well conceived. The whole thing looks marvellously uncluttered, but still contains a wealth of detail. The only thing i would query are the island trees... i'd have them looking more forest-like.

How Many Minifigs do you own?

Heh, i think that would include everyone? At last count i had approx 230 minifigs, soon to be 240 (waiting on a couple of orders). I think i've made it out of single digits of female minifigs now too, which is encouraging!

    MOC+INS Forklift

Wow, nice looking model, thanks for making the time to share the instructions! I'll be having a go at building it for sure.

    MOC: New Zealand Ambulance

Nice ambo! I am just starting to build vehicles myself (i've been mainly a castle builder up to now) and this is quite inspirational. My thoughts go out to everyone in Christchurch today too - hope you and yrs are safe and well.

    2011 NINJAGO sets

Damn, that fire temple looks amazing. I like the look of the earth dragon too.

    Review: 5764 Rescue Robot

Hmm, i'm not sure about this one. I do like the concept and I kinda want it for parts, but... i'm sick of red creator sets and by the time it makes it's way into Aus stores it will prolly be about $35, which seems pretty dear for 150 peices. (even with a light brick). Oh well, it's not like i don't have plenty of other sets to save up for!

What's your favorite LEGO license theme so far?

It's a toss up between HP and PoP, but i suspect that after this year it may well become POTC! Bring it on!
  9. Congrats to all the builders! Beautiful ships all and some seriously mad skillz on display.

    Adult Collecting vs. Play

Great topic. I only call myself a Lego collector as a cover for the amount of playing with Lego that i do! Because, as some other ppl have said, it's often seen as a bit embarrassing. Ah well. Interesting to hear that a lot of ppl keep their sets together for quite a while. I very rarely have a set on display, it's pretty much just MOCS (in various states of completion) and minifigs on my shelf. I often assign various minifigs "build team" duties on MOCS in progress. Atm i am building a scale replica of my house - i have a blue spaceman checking levels and measuring spaces, 2 dwarves laying floorboards and building walls, and a viking patrolling the grounds for any stray zombies. The cows and pigs are enjoying the grass in the backyard i've just laid out too. If they keep it up i might have to order some more green plates and vegetation!

    Best Theme Ever?

Well, looking at the sets i currently own, i would have to say castle. Love all the new Kingdoms line, and eagerly awaiting the 2011 sets. The seige engines from the fantasy line were pretty cool as well. (Plus they brought us trolls! And dwarves! How could i ever forget them!) The old classic castle from the 70's and 80's are also a perennial fav, they certainly more than hold their own. Other that, in no particular order: PoP Pirates Vikings Ninjas Pharoah's quest Harry Potter

What is your favorite LEGO color ???

What, no love for dark brown?? I reckon it's great for breaking up solid wooden buildings, suggesting shadow in trees and for dark tree roots etc. Dark green is awesome for landscaping too. I'm also quite partial to the medium blue that was supplied so heavily in the MMV. I really, really wish i had some more sand green too.

El Bricko MOC - Peoples choice award

Ohh, i see it now! Sneaky!

    Slightly horrified......

Also, if you don't like the look of the Lego helmets and weaponry available, you can find alternatives that are Lego compatible at places like Brickforge and Brickarms etc.
  15. I ordered this set from B&N the other night - ahh i can't wait for it to arrive! I keep coming back to this review to gloat over those Anubis characters that will soon be mine - thanks Hinckley for such a comphrehensive overview of the set!
  16. Awesome, i've been waiting for them to get the Scorpian pyramid in - and so cheap too. Instabuy!

El Bricko MOC - Peoples choice award

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend Brickvention, and i can report that the western diorama was even more impressive than the pictures show. The interiors were especially nice. (and hard to photograph!) They even had a list of things (like birds, bugles, various minifigs etc) that they challanged you to find in the MOC, so you really did spend a fair bit of time admiring it!
  18. Great review! I got this set today and man, i have to say, that play feature is brutal! Woe betide the minifig that stands in front of *that* bamboo grove, that's for sure. Also, i replaced the skellie's concrete boots for the old skellie legs and it looks much better. A touch taller too i think? Don't know what i'm going to use the discarded boots for yet, but i'm sure they'll come in handy somehow.

    MOC: Emperor's Tower

Wow... beautiful buildings. I'm loving the angles on the yellow tower!

    What's your latest acquisition?

Just ordered "The Rise of the Sphinx" from B&N and some more Pharoah's Quest from BL - i don't have the patience to wait for the sets to be released here! Also picked up a few of the elf minifig and a few others from series 3 as well. That's me done for the next little while - i'm going to be saving up for those new Kingdom sets for a bit!

    In My Kingdom Cold...

Wow. Just wow. Love the castle and the village too. You are an LDD god for sure!
  22. $4.90 actually, but yeah, they are more expensive.
  23. Just been to Target in Melbourne CBD, they have series 3 minifigs on the shelves - a whole row of them, about 8 boxes (i think) A few ppl there trawling through them with me, one fella kindly gave me a copy of the dot code to help with the sorting. I scored 4 elves, 3samuri, 2 fishermen and a gorilla - one of the fishermen i mistakenly picked as an elf, so i'd advise corfirming the dot codes by feel before purchasing. Apparently a lego rep was there earlier and wasn't pleased to hear about ppl sorting by dot codes. Yeah well, we weren't pleased with the price increase either! Btw, i saw they also had the ninjago sets (not the spinners) out on the shelves as well. Happy hunting!

    Review: 7307 Flying Mummy Attack

Looks like the biplane has some problems but who cares - easily modded and the overall look of the set is hawt. I can't wait to get my mitts on this one!
  25. Dude, what did i just watch. Turkish Jackie Chan fighting the evil muppets i got - sort of - but the random SW stuff was bizarre! Kinda makes me think of "The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires". On acid. Ahem. Moving on, sorry! I don't actually find either theme that strange, i mean Lego is all about imagination, right? I can see Ninjago's roots in Pokemon and anime and Time cruiser's in Back to the Future etc, both seem like solid premises. The execution of the Time Cruisers sets is decidedly odd though, so it gets my vote.
