  1. Thanks! Glad you like the mini-sub, that's my favourite part of the model. Yeah, i never really got into the theme of divers robbing the Atlantis gaurdians etc, or that the gaurdians were themselves evil. Land (water?) rights for Atlanteans i say! Which of course means a proper stake in any business venture in thier territories. Thankyou! Eh, it's not really a set aimed at kids - but neither are a lot of D2C sets either. I can well imagine that it would be a bit too large and sprawling for TLG to make as an official set though - it just kept growing and growing as i was building it. I could have kept going, good thing i ran out of time! Sorry about the lack of good interior shots btw, this shot shows more detail of the cafe interior. Haha, maybe! But perhaps not the celebrity you are thinking of?
  2. Stunning! I love the way it is tiered back into the hill and comes apart like a modular building. All the little traps are great too. So. many. traps... The camp site is great too. But what is that guy doing on the scaffolding with the hammer and chisel?? That's not Lego archaeology son, get some dynamite in there pronto! Best of luck in the comp - not that you'll need luck with this beauty!
  3. Lovely! The baseplate really works well here, and i love all the little interior touches. I never realised until i saw the new longbow in this MOC, that it really works well as a Kyudo bow. Just one thing though; how does one get from one level of the building to the next? Mind you, i guess ninjas don't need stairs! Great work - best of luck in the comp!

    D2C Contest: Serpent Ruins

One of the things i love about yr MOCs is how effortlessly you create sinuous, organic-looking forms, and this one runs true to type. Your brick built flora and fauna are nothing short of jaw-dropping. Fantastic work, and best of luck in the comp!
  5. Oh man, i love this entry so hard. So imaginative. Looks like it was a really challenging build too, well done with it!
  6. Wow, what an amazing entry! Amazing convertable, and such a beautiful building. I love the light up fireplace, and the add-on of the waterfall is just brilliant. So, so good!

    The Fabulous Four

Some interesting points of view on an interesting topic! I chose the elf, partly cause i love the fantasy castle theme and elves were definitely missing there, but also cause it's a great figure to customise. The brickforge helms, spears and blades work great with this minifig. The ony thing that remains for my elven forces is to customise a hip quiver for the archers - the back ones just look odd with the cloak imo.
  8. Wow - what a fantastic entry! I adore the sub, i only wish the official subs looked as good as yours, i might have bought some then. The colossus is great too, (any relative of the Rhodes colossus? His ugly brother perhaps?? ) i love the bulky feet and incorporation of the Atlantis keys. The trident is a great design too. Best of luck in the contest!

    MOC: Sydney Opera House

That slope pattern for the opera house is absoloutly amazing! You say there was a little bit of a leap of faith between the concept and the execution, well it certainly paid off handsomly. The curves look stunning, and the lighting sets everything off perfectly. So, so impressive!
  10. Aha, i was waiting for an update on this! Looks amazing, with a lot of thought put into the design... i love the little storyline, and the way the sections open up is magic! I wouldn't worry about the size - hey, it's still not as big as the Taj Mahal, right? I agree that the comp should be about *our* dream D2C sets, not just about making a design look super-official.

    SET REVIEW: 4191 Captain's Cabin

This looks great, i hope it's around the same price as the PoP Desert Ambush set here in Aus - it's one of the few sets i won't be buying online.

    REVIEW: 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge

Well said sir. I agree wholeheartedly (apart from that last bit about the marriage - not sure about nuptial relations with the undead?? ). So much so that i succumbed today and placed my pre-order for the QAR. Can't wait! It will be June before she arrives though, hopefully enough time for my credit card to recover!
  13. Alright! This really looks the business. I was hoping someone would build a barge, and your version is a beauty. The crocodile is awesome too!

    REVIEW: 4181 Isla De Muerta

Not that excited about this set, it seems very light on for what you pay... ...BUT; huge drawcard - a Geoffery Rush minifig?? I have to get that!
  15. That's one super-creepy fish - nice work!
  16. Wow, that's a really lovely, lovely design. Great work! I love the idea of the modularity, although i do wonder how much it weakens the structure by dividing it up the way you have? Best of luck in the contest!

    REVIEW: 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge

Thanks for the review, i am hanging out to get this set even more now!
  18. Yes! The new Pharoah's Quest D2C exclusive that gives you more of what you want! More Anubis guards! More ancient temples! More gold and tan! And a stack of playable fun.... read on to discover... The Temple of Amset Ra Piece count: lots Minifigs: 9 Introducing our heros - Jake Raines of course needs no introduction, but in this exclusive set he has a brand new sidekick - Em Starling; swashbuckling, quick-witted and the ideal candidate to help Jake storm the ancient temple and stop the revived Amset Ra from activating the alien homing beacon! All they have is a vintage motorbike and sidecar, a machine gun and their wits... can they make it in time?? Three-quarter view of the temple. Amset Ra, following his awakening at the Scorpian pyramid and epic battle with Jake and friends, has retreated to his temple which also houses an alien homing beacon in the form of an shimmering blue obilisk. On activation, the beacon will signal to the aliens who helped Amset Ra dominate the ancient world that the time has come again for invasion and conquest! On to the playable features: At a command from Amset Ra, the stone gaurdians of the outer pylon (gate) arise to repel all who would dare intrude! The outer gate and walls are hinged and can be detached in a manner simmilar to the Battle of Alamaut. The ramp to the temple sanctuary can split open as shown, providing our heros with a route to the alien generator, housed underneath the temple. A close up of the alien generator that powers the beacon. This is on the ground floor at the back of the temple sanctuary. The roof of the temple sanctuary can be lifted off to show the richly decorated sanctuary interior. I hope you have enjoyed my entry! I had a hard time whittling my pics down to only six... there are more pics at my flickr if yr interested in checking them out.

    Block of flats

Amazing! Looking at these is like a masterclass on building... thanks for sharing them with us!
  20. Oh dude, this is so great. The piece designs are beautiful as well as being easily recognisable. The drawers for the pieces are genius too!

    MOC: Adventure Offroad Vehicle

Cool! I look forward to seeing yr solution.
  22. Thanks lego-maniac! Glad you like it! Aw shucks, thanks Aanchir, i really appreciate yr kind comment. Thanks mate, that's high praise indeed! But seriously, the PQ sets are amazing, some of the best i've bought for parts and minifigs imho. I can't recommend them highly enough.

    What did you buy today?

Not LEGO, but i bought some storage stuff today - a big bin for ship parts, 3 rows of tilt bins (21 in all) and a carry case for minifigs. Now i just have to get around to sorting...
  24. Thanks Captain Tamamono! Glad you like it. There's such a rich vein of "Aliens built the pyramids" guff in popular culture that it seemed a shame not to tap into it.
