Whew! LEGO finally make a 2011 set that doesn't make me want to rush out and buy it as soon as possible! I don't know (or care) much about how faithful this is to the BP in the movies, but it just doesn't look like a particularly interesting set. I agree that (what i can see of) the stern looks kinda odd too. I'll be continuing to save up my pennies for the QAR instead.

Wow, this comp is throwing up some amazing entries! I do like the way you've used inverted plates for texture on the horse and building, but in some places it doesn't work so well for me - the columns, for instance, look a wee bit gappy. But the composition is great and overcomes such visual niggles, and little details like the olive branches (i assume that's what they are? From the Trojan's throwing them in front of the horse as they dragged it into the city?) on the ground are really neat too. Best of luck in the comp!

It'd be enough to love this creation just for the ambition alone - it's such a hard subject to pull off and you've done it with such style. Instantly recognisible and the ground level photo at the end of yr post is just perfect. I wish i could vote for you, but i'm not on Bookface, best of luck anyway!

I was at Toyworld this afternoon to take advantage of this sale - got a Mill Village Raid and Dragon's Prison for a tick over $100, can't beat that! I had my own flyer, but i did ask if they accepted printouts, the answer is sadly, no. (At the Brunswick store at least) But it's a great sale if you can get yr hands on a coupon flyer.

Thanks peeps for the lovely comments, glad you like. I'm trying to improve my lego photography a little bit more with each moc too... not sure that i did so well with the uneven light in this one. Possibly i've ironed out too much of the contrast in the image-processing step too. Ok, you talked me into it! I'll have a go after i finish my futuristic dwarf ninja fortress (at least that's what it is at the moment? Not quite sure at this stage).

Before Vikings were famed for sacking and pillaging towns along the coast of Europe, they were known as hardy and intrepid seafarers. This is my take on the prow of a viking longship in *extremely* rough open water! It was originally built as a vig for the EB collectable minifig series 4 comp, but sadly i couldn't get it finished in time. But here it is anyway. :) Thanks for looking! Any criticism welcomed.

Wow, this just gets better and better! I love the meeting place with yr ingenious tents, i'd be content with that as a MOC myself, but i know yr going to be on to bigger and better things with this landscape. I await yr next update with anticipation - this thread is just great to watch!

Wow, that's awesome! I like how the density of the figure is so realistic. That figure size would be perfect for large statues, golems or giants etc in minifig scenarios as well.

Yay WhiteFang for the early (and brilliant) review! I've been wishing and waiting for closer pics of some of the great printing and accessories in this series. I'm definitely getting them all, with multiples of the royal gaurds and dwarves a cert. I like the look of the violin case too- it'd be brilliant if the brickforge violin was able to fit in it, but i suspect i'm asking a bit much!

Congrats to all the winners, especially those in Cat B, that was a tough challenge. I wish i hadn't been so busy, i really wanted to put an entry in. Ah well, roll on series 5!

Beautiful collection Sandy! I would not have thought to group all the dresses together in a photo, but they just look supurb en masse. Sadly i only have 5 at the moment (Bellatrix, the 2 from the MMV, the series 4 CM kimono woman and the red princess from the dragon knight's tower), but i hope to get some more soon. On an aside, the fact that lego women in dresses are slightly taller than thier menfolk looks entirely natural to me, but then i am only 5'4".

Brilliant, you just keep bringing on the awesome MOC's! The graveyard is awesome and the elements from the "blacksmith attack" set just make me want to get that set even more, if that is possible. I love the rounded roof and barbed wire-topped cupolas as well - the byzantine influence is clear to see. I love yr backstories as well - i admit i'm getting quite attached to yr little band of heros! Will there be some resoloution of this storyline, or are you going to be constantly leaving them in ever more precarious predicaments?

Haha, oh Fishpond. If they say it won't ship for a few weeks, then you can expect yr order next year, if at all. Of the last three orders i've made with them, two they cancelled due a "pricing error", and the other is a month late and still on order from thier suppliers. Oh, and they gave me two $5 off coupon codes for the cancelled orders, neither of which happen to work! Last time i use them.

Why? My main answer would have be MOCcing possibilities. The only problem now is that i have waay too many "to make" projects based around the collectable figs in my "to build" list, if you call that a problem that is... Plus, as other ppl have mentioned, the ratio of female:male minifigs in the collectables is a huge boost to the ranks of female minifigs in my collection, and very welcome. And again, it's always nice to get minifigs that hark back to older lines that we might not have - ninjas and samurai, forestmen, cowboys and native americans etc.

This is just so awesome, omg. I tried making a compound bow last year but this is way, way better than my effort. I'm going to have to build an archery range just so i can try out the firing mechanism on this baby! ps. Are you guys archers by any chance? I've never seen anyone else try to make a compound bow before, and it's such a realistic model that you've made.

Truly a MOC for the ages. Congrats on finishing this massive project, marshal_bannana, it's just beautiful.
