  1. I assume this is what he's referring to

Toys R' Us - Lyrics to US 80's commercial

"I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys R' Us kid. A million toys to choose from, that I can play with. From bikes to trikes and video games, its the biggest toy stor there is. GEE WIZ! I don't wanna grow up, cuz baby if I did....I wouldn't be a toys r' us kid!"

ummmmmmm.... according to my memory we had (radio) ads for T**w**** in the 80s & 90s with the opening line "I don't wanna grow up" & ending with "T**w**** is for kids" but I couldn't decipher the rest as it was sung by children with their pants pulled up to their necks. (ie very high)

  2. I have found a way to vote for ALL of your favorite peices! Once you vote refresh the page, unselect all th eones you chose before, and vote for 5 new ones. This can be done as many times as wanted. Not sure if it works after you already confirmed your votes though. :classic:

Read the instructions - cheater or double entries will be completely deleted

  3. ...I take them all apart after only a short period of time (it hurts less and less to take something apart )... And when we move to the new (unbuilt) house that we've bought in a little over a year, I'll finally have my own LEGO room where I can unfold.

I'm a bit concerned you'll try to take your house apart soon after it's built... haha.

Nice idea for the cake, and your minifig vigs are awesome! Congratulations on your recent wedding, I hope Mr Cecilie is a fan too!

  4. Now that I think of it again, the issue may not be about realistic minifig scale or even relative scale between sets at all. It's more about being able to 'play' with the sets, i.e. drive a cart through a gate, park a car in a garage, etc. But again, compromises in price/piece count have to be struck and like has been concluded before, adults may be more occupied with the issue than kids are.

For kids, any ridiculous solution can be explained and accepted without reservation by using the word "magic".

"The catapult can't go through that tiny door!"

    "Yes it can!"

    "How?"

    "Magic."

    "Ah."

  5. Hmnn I wonder if we have any data about Mars mission / SP 3's effects on star wars set sales. In my case, I was about to decide to buy me a certain cool star wars ship until I figured out I could instead get a hyper speed pursuit with more pieces by a lower price instead.

SHHH!!!! Don't say that or we won't get any new space sets next year!

  6. I love these sets and bought the Galactic Enforcer last year from the lego website, but I've only ever seen these sets for sale online, never in the shops. I was wondering what's going on with their distribution. I live in the UK, the toy stores around me never have the sets in (Toys r us, The Entertainer, Tesco).

I've heard that in the UK, Space Police 3 sets are only being sold online or in Lego shops. Anywhere else that sells Lego won't have them. Noone seems to know why this is either.

  7. I see your point.

Perhaps this shows us which side Palpatine wanted to win?

The only way to appear credible (and not be exposed as a double agent - let alone orchestrator of the whole thing) was to have the other side wiped out. Since most of the Separatist force were droids and not organic life, it would be easier to just sweep them under the carpet. Apart from Geonosians, there aren't many beings to kill to keep silent. Also, the Separatists were the "instigators" of the war, so he'd look better if they were defeated by his leadership. His other hurdle was the Jedi. Of course, that was what this was all about, wiping out the Jedi without seeming the villain.

  8. Went to K-Mart last night, they've moved the Lego and the range was much better than usual. First time I've seen impulse sets in there. SP3 ones I spent a year getting annoyed about not finding anywhere. Well too bad, I've got as many of them as I want already, so K Mart's impulses can rot on shelf. I saw the Lego games, now I understand. I thought they were going to be computer games & was wondering what the fuss was about! (Big deal, what's new about that?) Haha they look pretty cool.

Questions: anyone used S@H before? What time-frame should I anticipate for delivery? Do they post from Denmark or locally? I'm kinda over rushing home from work before the post office closes to see if there's a card in the letter box (and finding that there isn't - sigh, looks like it's a movie night again).

  9. I suppose you have to take into account it is a whole galaxy, not a planet, with billions and billions of people with the resources and money to make it happen.

I don't doubt there's the money & resources to create that stuff, but not in that time-frame. Any invention would take a long time to go from ideas through design through production to roll-out?

  10. I think it's a reasonable beef. Surely the sets in the same line are supposed to be compatible with each other?

The Kingdoms catapults don't really fit through the castle or tower gates either (from memory). It would be so much better if they could be kept behind the defence during a siege instead of out where it's vulnerable.

  11. Some good points by everyone. Well done to Arealight, but TLG's version looks so much more like Aayla Secura. The official pieces are more versatile and although I like the idea of the curved torso, it doesn't look quite right. The colours on the custom don't look right either. The lekku are too spaghetti-like. The face looks like an angry sith out for revenge instead of a stoic jedi concentrating on the force. TLG's printing fits the clone wars character perfectly.

  12. You mean... something like they did from 2007 to 2009. Think about it, they had orcs, undead, trolls, dwarves and pretty noble knights. Well for over a year or so everyone was talking about and wishing for forestmen with pointy ears. (wich is they only thing that was missing)

but who ever heard of a Lego minifig with ears?!? No, I think the current Kingdoms line is fantastic. Back to the roots: knights and castles, men on horses or foot with basic weapons. But it's done better than the originals, it's more lively in appearance. It's like a good cover version of an old song.

  13. I completely agree with this! Lucas said this would be about the war and other Jedi, a lot less about Anakin. It is embarrassing how badly they have failed on that front. Although to kids, the other Jedi are not as recognisable as Anakin and Obi, they should be pushing forwards the other Jedi, so that they become popular. They have done this with Ahsoka, and they really should be doing this with the other characters, such as Kit fisto, Eeth koth, Adi Gallia, Ki Adi to name a few. I think that they have done a good job with Plo Koon, and with a little more screen exposure, I think they will have got it right.

Introducing new Jedi is great too, and the images of the new Jedi for season 3 looks great!! I am really excited about him and hope we see a lot of him. One problem I want to know is how they will sort out the Eeth Koth - Agen Kolar and Adi Gallia - Stass Aliie dilema (or if they will even bother?) Any thoughts on this?

The other problem with the limited viewing time which we see these other Jedi is that they only appear once, which is really beginning to frustrate me. I for one, really really enjoyed the Grievous intrigue episode, as I loved seeing members of the Jedi council out on field missions during the clone wars (this is the same thing that I really enjoyed about the dark horse comics of the clone wars). The problem is they show us Eeth Koth and Adi Gallia, and then we never see them again... EVER!! They bring in a new Jedi: Nadar, and Kill him off straight away! We only see any of the other Jedi for one episode! Following this trend, we can expect to see the new season 3 Jedi (do we have a name yet?) to be killed off after his one appearance in whatever episode and never see him again! They need to have some episodes (for example) where Eeth Koth, Plo Koon and Shaak Ti go on a mission together and we don't see obnoxious Anakin for a whole episode!

Another thing that I don't understand about the series is why is the Jedi Council never actually all together? It is really beginning to annoy me that we never see the Jedi council, and when we do see (Yoda and Mace) they are only giving orders or in a hologram! They have barely appeared in the series when actually doing anything! Another annoying side affect of the Anakin overkill is that they have over exaggerated his powers and his position in the Jedi order. He is not even a master yet, and he is answering back to Mace Windu and Giving orders to Jedi that are either higher up the command chain or are clearly more experienced Jedi than him. He should at least not be answering back to members of the council.

In terms of what we have seen in the season 3 trailer, I think some of it looks like it has good potential and the trident things attacking Kamino look good, not sure about the new super duper uber killer battle droids yet (as why would they have them and then they wont appear in episode 3). The new Jedi male looks great and Shaak ti (FINALLY) is making me very excited about this season!! I think that the trailer will only show us clips from the first few episodes (as the season 2 trailer didn't show us anything past episode 13, so there is definitely room for plenty more stories and hopefully Jedi.

After reading this back I have realised what a huge rant that was, however, I think it was necessary

Hopefully season 3 will bring more balanced stories of less Anakin  and more Jedi :cry_happy: Because in that way we may also get more chance of Lego Jedi Figs (I'm hoping for Shaak Ti fig next year )

    Thanks for reading,

    Batman1

Haha, good post. More Lego Jedi please. There's hardly any.

    B3+MagnaGuard+Droideka+Techno Union=Problem Solved.

They've already got lightsaber-resistant walking tanks, elite bodyguards, walking, shielded turrets, a wealthy droid-making company, what more do they want?

They'd at least better have a good name for this one. Remember the Super Tanks from Season 2? They must've spent 2 seconds thinking up a name like that. And it's not like the concept of ground vehicle-based proton torpedos was new either. (but let's not discuss Season 2 here  )

How long did the clone wars go for? 3 years? How much technology and production can the separatists come up with in 3 years? I think it's reeeeeeally far fetched!

  14. I just went to order one of the new Star Wars sets and it seems the free Spaceman minifig offer is no longer valid. I guess they ended it a day early. :-/

Shame (maybe they ran out?), I placed an order last friday, didn't even know about the freebie until the checkout. So I suppose I'm expecting 2 packages then?

About the helmet: I think the "new" (20 years ago it was still new) helmet looks awful without a visor. I have replaced all my classic figs' helmets with the "new" (not the SP3 2010 new) version in that colour and added a trans light blue visor. (The only really common colour not used in Space.) Looks a million times better.

  15. You are nitpicking, but I had the exact same thoughts as I watched it. Also, how did the Protoss player get carriers so quickly?

Those inconsistencies aside, this video does an excellent job at capturing the feel of Starcraft.

I died and went to heaven. The biggest problem with this video besides the buildings going down too quickly, the goliaths shooting rockets at a building, the barracks producing units so quickly, the carriers turning up so early, "carrier has arrived" voice over when the player is Terran... is that it was totally awesome.

  16. Some of the best designs and worst parts; that's what the late 2000s will be remembered by

I know what you mean, but in 1000 years people will think you mean 2700-2999! Heck knows what Lego will be like then - if it (or English) still exists...

To all EB forum readers in the 30th century and beyond: we mean the last few years of the decade leading up to 2010. Please do not unnecessarily bump this thread 1000 years, haha.

  17. If you look at it in historic terms, then there are not that many factions. In theory that is. Medival Europe had a few kings and Emperors who needed the help of their vazals (is that correct English?) basicly the vazals promised the king to help them. In return the got ground which gave them theire income (and power). Those vazals fought each other, and sometimes their own king! But if their king waged ware against an other king the're supposed to help their king out with some soldiers......

Hope this make any sence (I tell it better in dutch then English) but this way you see the factions work together but at the same time there is some frictions between de factions on the same side.

True! But complicated for many children... I kinda dumbed it down, the groups were together but occasionally had infighting.

Like it was said before, it would make sense to group disparate because there was a lot of different heraldry on the medieval battlefield. Each lord and knight would have his own colors and design and their retainers and servants would wear corresponding livery. I wonder how they kept track of everybody though. :-/

*taps shoulder* "I say, excuse me my good man... are you fighting for the advancing army or the local defense? I'm with Sir Galston of the advancing army, I saw your back to me undefended but I didn't want to have your head off if we were allies, don't you know!"

"Er, 'ow you say... take zat?" CLINK

  18. I always assumed as a kid that they were meant to be grouped together. I intend to do the same when my current "castle phase" comes into full fruition.

Crusaders/Lion Knights/Castlemen whatever they were called teamed up with Royal Knights, Knight's Kingdom I & II, Fantasy Era "Crownies" (when that $#*&!@$ castle finally falls into my hands) & the new Kingdoms version of the Lion Knights.

Black Falcons, Black Knights, Dragon Knights/Dragon Masters whatever, Fright Knights, Vladek & Shadow Knights and the new green Dragon Knights.

Forest & Wolf men I already grouped together. I'm not sure if I'll get Dark Forest, but I'd put them in there too.

That leaves Cow Pack (or whatever it's called again), Undead, Trolls & Dwarves. Might depend on final numbers as to whether I put them in with any other group, and which one.

  19. It doesn't have to have Anakin and Obi Wan in every episode... I remember George Lucas saying this was separate to the "tragedy of Anakin Skywalker" so why does he seem to be in 95% of it? They could have Dooku & Grievous in it heaps fighting OTHER jedi. There are plenty of well known characters to choose from that wouldn't be foreign to a young audience. Yoda & Mace Windu are hardly ever featured.

  20. The worst thing is I saw this set on eBay, still boxed for $25 AUD and no one bidded on it, and I forgot to bid myself!

=O oh no! & how did I miss it?

I think it was $80AU (overpriced) but I bought it when it was released anyway. It's pretty cool, but I think it looks better in photos than in reality. I agree with a lot of the comments already made, I'd like to add this: on a hard smooth surface the wheels won't turn, on a too soft or uneven surface the body drags on the ground or gets caught. Medium-thin carpet is about all you can drive it on.
