  1. It was limited to 200 photos when I joined, too. So after a little while I got a subscription, which was very cheap at the time. I had no idea that the free version was opened up so much since then. Now the cost for subscription has inflated a lot, what else am I going to do...

What for? It’s not a rules violation. There’s an expectation that people will find creative ways to promote their projects to garner votes. If something like this helps with some portion of the total support count for a project (a portion you yourself observe will likely be relatively minute), what’s wrong with that?

You're supposed to support a project on its merits, not because it belongs to the clan you're signed up to:hmpf_bad:

It would defeat the purpose of raising support at all if garbage projects are voted up by people that don't actually care about it. So if it's a deliberate organised ploy to pool votes, the Ideas team should shut it down.

  3. The reason the cartoons aren't talked about that I liked, is probably because the ones that are talked about these days were huge, had toy lines associated and/or have been made into big movies etc. So Transformers, Voltron etc are all talked about but not the French, British or some of the American stuff. Yes people remember them when you mention or describe them, but people don't bring it up because Marvel & DC comics, SW and the aforementioned shows etc are so huge the nerds don't really need anything more to talk about.

Like Danger Mouse, Mysterious Cities of Gold, Duck Tales for tiny example

I know EB allows users to post a thread abut a MOC that links to the Ideas page (as long as it's not just a "support my project" page), but what about projects we really like?  I didn't know, so I thought here was the most appropriate.

Well this is the catch-all Ideas thread but I think I've seen dedicated threads around somewhere. I don't read or post in them so I'm not sure

  5. Similarly functioned Lego dispenser models have been shared on "lifestyle" websites (for women who do craft things for their kids/home) for years. My sister asked me to make one for her kids. You can put any lollies/sweets/candy in them, M&Ms, Skittles, Smarties, Tic Tacs, Nerds etc... (chocolate is not a great idea due to it potentially melting!)

I don't see how it needs to be exclusive to M&Ms, it's not like they built it in the shape of one. TLG can repurpose an Idea however they deem fit. They don't care who voted for it and for what reason, if they think it's viable in a certain form they'll do it, otherwise they won't.

Regarding the "children will eat Lego" subject, the set would surely either be made with a certain agreed partnering food product accompanying it, or with none. If there's none, how do you demonstrate the mechanism? With... Lego? Oops!

It's a great Idea (obviously not original though) but seems a hot potato.

I'll say it before and I'll say it again.

    Space. Themed. Creator. Sets.

They'd only need one set a year to make old fans happy and they could change the theme for each set (Blacktron, Ice Planet, etc).

The sets would ideally have no stickers, classic style minifigs, and a couple of printed bricks -- like existing Creator sets. And they'd have the usual alternate builds, reusable parts, and interesting build techniques. I'd hope each set would have a ship, rover/mech, and base build, with a few different wind screens.

    Total win for everybody.

And it doesn't clog up a whole shelf-worth of retail space or too much factory time etc. Similar has been said about Castle. I am all for it.

  7. Um, it looks okay, but it doesn't look much like an Aston Martin DB5. I don't know how they could've pulled off the shape with Lego at that scale, but in my opinion they shouldn't have released this, it's way too far away. Especially considering the licences. As an unlabeled, unlicenced creator set it would be okay.

  8. I'm very impressed by how good it looks and how stable it seems. I supported this as soon as I saw it, I've only ever supported 2 projects.

A bit strange that they mention 5 of the 6 pilots, when a lot of merchandise I've seen shows Sven despite him not being in it for long.

But it's pretty funny that the stickers (which are numbers anyway) have the numbers next to them, just in case you couldn't figure out what a 2 was...

This. I didn't realize this was what I really wanted until you said it, Pombe. It would be enough to satiate my nostalgia while building my own thing. But it would also have to include those big angular quarter-dome pieces, in all the classic trans colors (red, neon green, dark green, and neon orange) as well as black and white. That kind of thing would be an instant buy for me.

I went mad on Bricklink 10 years ago buying that sort of stuff. Printed & trans elements, and minifigs. All you need, really. Oh and endless parts in the appropriate colour schemes of course...

Compared to the first two Captain America entries, Civil War obviously felt less like a standalone Cap movie and more like Avengers 2.5. That's not necessarily a bad thing, and it was a good movie, but it still was instead an extended Avengers melodrama with Bucky as its focal point.

Agreed, it seemed a bit silly calling it that instead of Avengers Something Something. But by announcing that title it could make people speculate it was something to do with him and the American civil war, whereas if they'd just called it "The Avengers Fight Each Other"...

Having said that, if they wanted the real plot to be a surprise, why did the previews show they'd be fighting each other...

  11. Since you asked, I think I prefer the comic when it's about flying through deep space in front of computer monitors, where most of the 'action' visible is drawn-on purple lasers, the focus is mainly on the Space Agency's dealings and the 'real' stars of the show are the Lego Space factions, sets & minifigs. The integral & side characters are all important and interesting of course and it's still good. I obviously pay less attention to the detail of the shot than you put work in to it, so whatever feels more satisfying to you in the storytelling & depiction.
