Cool! I just got this after drooling over it since it came out. I haven't started it yet, but I plan to change a few things and also put it on some proper baseplates!

I finished the first two floors today! I'm also going to be puting it on some baseplates, but i'm not sure how many. It's going to be at the end of my town and also have a graveyard.

And with these baseplates, the house opens smoothly and fantastic..:)

The house will appear AWESOME with base plates. What i did is, front i used 32x32 and back 16x16 and with this match i obtain a nice finish plus the house opens nicely....also as can be seen from my photos, the baseplates will be enough to include many customs and gives a really nice look.

in my opinion , bigger baseplate than what i have, will not reflect the house along with customs. everythings will be far ...:)

All the Best!

Wow! I really like how you did this! You have inspired me to put the house on some baseplates! Keep up the great work!

You Have to mate!

I don't have this yet but I'm planning to and will also put it on base plates so it can integrate with my modulars. My plan is to limit the base plate dimensions to the standard 32x32. Originally, I was going to put the rear on two 8x16 plates and the front on two 8x16 + one 16x32 plates. But I soon realized that by putting the chimney flushed with the edge, the hinges and nearby windows will actually protrude over the edge and make it hard to connect to an adjacent building. Ug.

I've seen other modifications where the house is put on a 32x32 base plate and the opening is made possible by putting tiles under the opening part of the house. But when the house is fully opened, the opened portion is elevated and has nothing below to support it, which puts a lot of weight on the hinges. I'm thinking I'll simply going to create a mostly-tiled base for the house and when it need to be opened, it has to be lifted off the base.

Or maybe some hybrid design where the rear of the house is on tiled 2 x 8x16 plates that can be manually moved to support the elevated half of the house.

I just got this set and noticed that on the back of the box, it says '9468 not included in box'. 9468 is the Vampyre Castle, but I don't see any text or pictures on the box relating to that other set. Well, the boxes are the same size and the color scheme of both sets are the same. The text is very small so I think it's more to protect LEGO when a customer comes back wondering why he or she got the wrong set. If they wanted to avoid confusion before the purchase, they could display the other sets on the back of the box.

U r right or it could be a marketing strategy to make us buy the other set...:-)
